wearing: James Perse fleece skirt | James Perse slub button-down | Madewell necklace | Swedish Hasbeens clogs | Jas M.B. bag
Speaking of Swedish Hasbeens…I decided to take these out for a wear today; it’s been a while. Did anyone snag a pair on sale yet? With the endless code? There’s still a size 6 & 7 in red on sale at Endless + 20% off 🙂
And I know I talk about this all the time, but I hope you can see that I also practice what I preach, at least in terms of trying to focus on buying pieces that will last forever. Sometimes I don’t, I’ll admit – I buy something I love, or think I love, but after a while, I don’t love it anymore (that mostly happens when I get sucked in by the color, or “amazing” price).
The only brand that NEVER happens with is James Perse. I DO NOT GET RID OF JAMES PERSE, unless it just absolutely doesn’t fit me anymore. I don’t ever HAVE to get rid of James Perse pieces, because they last for years. And years. And I usually love them for years, and years.
Take this skirt, for example. It’s at least 4 years old, maybe more, so is the top. And they’re both as good as new. They’ve been through the wash countless times, worn many more times, and still don’t show their wear. Two out of the 10 JP t-shirts I own have developed very small holes in them, which I’m not happy about, but they’re not new either.
I feel the same way about Inhabit NY and Jas M.B. handbags; these are my “holy grail” brands. Even if I did have to pay full price for these designers (but I don’t. You don’t either), it would be 100% worth it. My cost-per-wear for a lot of my pieces from James Perse, Inhabit & Jas M.B. is fast approaching $1.00 or less. Ideally, I’d like for EVERYTHING in my closet to get to a cost-per-wear of as close to $0.01 as possible. That means, I need to have less, and wear what I do have more often. Which is easy with those brands, because none of the pieces ever look dated; they’re always timeless.
What brands are your “holy grail” brands? What are some of your favorite, most-loved pieces? Do tell!
Oh, and if you haven’t seen yet, check out the new Refinery29 Reserve deal for Tee-Zone, it’s spend $50, get $100 credit or spend $100 and get $200 credit. Tee-Zone has JAMES PERSE!!!! But even since yesterday, I’ve noticed some of the colors/sizes are selling out. And yes, I did get this deal. More on that in another post.
Hmmmmmmmm….Not sure I have any “holy grail” brands, but I do love J Brand for jeans. Other than that, I am not super loyal. Maybe I should start?

I’m such a J.Crew girl. I think it’s the stripes. I’ve got to have my stripes! And their pants and shoes fit me well. (size 11 clodhoppers!!) Oh, and I was browsing today and found one of my favorite INHABIT pieces on sale on their website: http://www.inhabitny.com/loose-cotton-long-sleeve-v-neck/12539-129941 PLUS the $20 off coupon (FALLKNIT) is still working even with sale items!
um…that would be about $20 then.
i NEED THAT!
I KNOW!!! I couldn’t believe the code worked! So much for winnowing down my wardrobe today (That was my job for today since I have company coming tomorrow and they’ll need closet space. Oh, and did I mention that it’s my parents, who already think that I’m a shopaholic???)
I have had the Refinery29 Reserve deal and I have bought a couple of James Perse T shirts for 50$ : )

i’m going to get another deal and get some james perse though…can’t pass up this deal!!
I have that same white JP shirt! I agree, JP is timeless, and his stuff lasts and lasts. My HG brands are James Perse and Inhabit! I absolutely love everything I own from both of those lines.
In the past I have owned several great James Perse tees, so recently I purchased 5 more at Nieman Marcus. Every one of these shirts developed small holes in the front in no time, even just wearing them a couple of short times and before washing. Naturally I am VERY disappointed in my purchase. Fortunately there is google, so I googled this issue and was quite surprised that this s a big topic (with JP and other brands), and that I am not alone with my frustration. My old tees used to hold up very well, but the recent issues are of very inferior quality and most likely made in China. On top of my dissatisfaction with JP tees I wasted good money in a very short time, and I think I deserve a refund for my purchases, but Neiman Marcus, Inc. does not care about customer satisfaction and makes no amends for selling low quality merchandise that now no longer holds up to the JP label. JP is equally responsible.
