I wanted to “test” out this skirt with shoes to see if I could wear it on the plane (still thinking about packing/travel outfits for our August bar mitzvah trip!) and I think yes, yes I can. Shoes are really tough for me, more than you might think, because of my larger calves and short legs. I don’t care so much anymore, and will wear what I want, but the type of shoe that looks cute on women with thinner calves and longer legs (ankle boots, I’m talking to you!!) just don’t work on me. At all. It’s always more flattering if I show some ankle, and as much of my foot as possible. A slight heel is preferred, but unless it’s a platform or a low wedge, I just don’t do heels anymore…
Anyway, this skirt is still available on sale at James Perse in a size 2 and I highly recommend it. I find slim, long skirts to be very versatile, especially since I like big tops over fitted bottoms. With the slit up the side of this skirt, it’s great for spring, summer and early fall, not so great for winter, really, but even though I dream of being able to wear skirts all year, I don’t. So three out of four seasons isn’t bad!
Did anyone else get one of these skirts? What did you think of it?
I think the skirt is really cute! And flats are just fine ~ I’m all about comfort 🙂

I think that outfit looks great. However – it breaks two of my personal rules for air travel – no skirts (or dresses, or shorts – pants only) and no slip on shoes….
I only bought 2 things at Nordstrom sale this morning – a handbag and some lotion. So boring! (I did get 2 bras and 2 prs shoes during the Amazon Prime Day – yet only one item was actually on sale – that was a bust too! 🙂
But when I don’t need, I try not to buy!!!! (though the desire to shop is strong right now, so I should head to a thrift store – if I’m going to buy, I should at least not spend so much money?)
(I mean no open back shoes, really – no mules, slides, or flip flops – which means I never fly in my birkenstocks 😉
Super-cute outfit! It’s the kind of easy outfit I live for: Gray + Black = Simple Chic
No skirts, but I’m looking for a new (read: better) black maxi.
