James Perse mixed media pants (size 3)
James Perse tee (a decade old)
Demy Lee Daphne sweater | large
I got mine at Shopbop and it’s sold out, but here’s a “vanilla” version on sale for $102 at Covet & Lou!!
Hansel from Basel rainbow socks – sorry, they’re sold out!!
These are the mirror squares we have on the wall downstairs that Hawk “plays” with himself in, hence all the fingerprints, etc. Lately he’s been kissing himself in the mirrors 🙂
I don’t have much to say today about this outfit, except that I love it. I like it a lot better than what I was wearing yesterday; it’s so comfortable and I appreciate feeling “held in” and sort of hugged by everything. The IK pants I wore yesterday are a bit big on me, and with my body the way it is now, I don’t get super-excited about elastic waistbands and even more fabric around my hips. I’m open to passing them on if anyone’s interested – they’re a large and only worn a couple of times.
And this sweater…the color is so pretty (are you getting used to seeing me in color now??) and I really love the drapey but not too big style. I highly recommend it, especially at 50% off as it is at Covet & Lou (different color, but still pretty).
Finally, I’m thinking of cutting my hair myself; I’m getting tired of pulling it back all the time, and I feel like it’s time to say goodbye to the blonde. I know some of you have done it, any pointers? (I’m probably too chicken to do it though, honestly)
Oh, and Kate kindly left a comment on yesterday’s post wondering if I’d consider writing more about being vegan and trying to achieve the right mix of vitamins, nutrients, minerals, etc., during meals. I can definitely do that, keeping in mind I’m not an expert, but I am also interested if there’s anything anyone else wants me to talk about?
I have in mind already to write about end-of-life for clothing/shoes/etc., and more about “ethical” fashion, but is there anything else you want to talk about here?
Also…yay Georgia!!! 🙂
I’ve cut my hair three times now since March. My hair has a bit of curl to is so it’s pretty forgiving. I watched a bunch of videos online and just took the plunge. My advice is go slow and don’t worry too much. It’s just hair! I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair too. My teenage son is growing his out!
Depends on the cut style and the type of hair you have. If you have long hair and just want to clean up the end edge its good, but any kind of precise bob cut- chin or lower- is hard top get right, especially with fine hair like I have.
Yay Georgia is right! Happy to read anything you want to say about ethical fashion. So glad you’ve pared down to the essentials and seem happier.
Love more about ethical clothing. I am not vegan myself but would be interested in hearing your info about the vegan journey! But also, could you please post the sizes for your clothes?! Thanks! In particular what size are the JP pants in this post? And the sweater too? Thanks, so glad to have you writing again!! xoxo
Sorry about the sizes!! I try to do that but it gets overlooked sometimes…the pants are size 3 and the sweater is a large 🙂
I’d love to sigh with relief about Georgia, but after the horrific display in DC today and 2 more weeks ahead of us, I guess I’ll be holding my breath for awhile longer.
I love the Demylee sweater! I met a woman in Montauk that is besties with her. Free sweaters would be a cool perk of friendship, huh? 😉
I haven’t had a haircut since February; nor have I colored my hair. I had switched to semi-permanent a couple years ago – the fadeout bothered me much less than a root line, so I could be lazy about when I re-colored. I assumed all color had been dissipating but this year I can definitely see that the red tones from the coloring made permanent deposits, as the bottom 6″ of hair are a different tone than the 2-3″ of new growth 😉 Oh well. My hair has a weird wave now (hello, peri-menopause?) but still blows out ok if I want to bother. I have thought about cutting (and hubs has offered to help) and I have good hair-only scissors, but my ends are still ok so I’ve decided to just let it ride….(and hubs shaves his head, so I don’t have to worry about him!)
Thanks for mentioning the vegan thing!! I think it’s precisely because you’re not an expert that I’m interested in hearing you talk about it. From the outside, vegan nutrition feels very daunting to try to understand and take on, even though it interests me! So I’m interested in how you went about learning about it, what made you want to prioritize it, and for example if you had to use some kind of nutrition tracker at first to make sure you were getting the various nutrients in. I feel like veganism has the reputation of not giving you enough nutrition (to be a great athlete, for example), but people tend to focus on what vegans don’t eat rather than the effort most vegans put into what they do eat and making sure their bases are covered nutritionally! So anything you’re up for talking about, I’d love to hear.
I’d also be interested in hearing about how you take care of your clothes? Do you have any tricks of the trade to make things last longer?
Hi! Love that green color on you:). I have been growing out a pixie cut and cutting my own hair with a razor since covid. I set up a zoom appointment with a stylist who walked me through the bangs and taking out some weight as my pixie was growing into a weird mullet/bob/long pixie situation. It is so empowering to cut your own hair! There is a feather razor on hairbrained.com that you can purchase and it is guarded so you are not cutting with a straight razor. It does NOT shred your hair if you use the right technique and it makes everything soft rather than blunt like scissors can. So it all depends on what you want to do with yours but I 100 percent would encourage you to try it! I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair since March 2020 with clippers and the razor. So fun!!!
Love the sweater! Looks sooo comfy! : ),
xxoo,
