I’m doing my best wind-in-hair pose for you today, what do you think? π It was so windy yesterday when I was taking pictures it couldn’t be helped. It’s kind of funny though! I’m actually in the process of creating a mini photo studio in my office or in my garage with a neutral backdrop for days such as this. And it’s getting harder to avoid the neighbors!!
Over the weekend, I got a wild hair that I need a new pair of boyfriend jeans, a pair that is looser, darker and super-soft, like the Current/Elliot boyfriend jeans. Then I put these on, and decided I could make do. They’re not that comfortable, honestly, because I took a size down and thought they would mold better to my body, but I do love the way they look – possibly better than the way the C/E jeans looked, so I’m going to spend my money on something else, probably this James Perse cardigan. Obviously I need it.
A note again about Everlane: they kindly sent me this cardigan as a thank you for my support since they launched, and also to try out the new cashmere since my pieces are from the previous season. I decided to get a large in this cardigan and while it’s big, I’m glad I did, because it’s nicely oversized. I also feel like this season’s cashmere is much softer and hangs better than last season’s, so if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it. Also, they’re launching a few new styles tomorrow (1/14) like a longer sweatshirt (!!), so be sure to check it out. I’m definitely considering a few more pieces.
Happy Monday! Hope you have a wonderful week!!
Love the wind. Love the tank on you. And I’ve just ordered 5 pairs of boyfriend jeans to try on – the GAP ones included, but also some higher ends. I am determined to find my soulmates:).
Love the Euro-American chic! π (The Repettos and cashmere make it Euro; the jeans and white tank make it American, IMO.)
I’ve just received an Everlane cashmere V-neck. I love mine, too, but I ordered a large and it is rather slouchy. So hard to know what size to order, since I have a cashmere cardigan from Nordstrom that is a medium and is too small. Anyway, I got mine in burgundy and love the colour and the feel. And the tags inside are nice and soft–they don’t scratch.
haha! thanks laurel – i agree with your euro/american differentiation π
i have a cashmere crewneck from last season and it’s a medium, which fits fine. and my last cardigan is a medium, and not slouchy at all. i think this season they made things a bit more oversized..but yes, sizing across brands is so all over the place, i almost hate to buy things online that i don’t try on in person anymore.
oh! we’re on the same wavelength! i’m sure you’ll find a great pair, can’t wait to read what you think about the ones you try…
I really like the taupe color cardigan. A not-black neutral π
I just checked out the new Everlane sweatshirts on their Tumblr site–I love the short-sleeve style. I wasn’t thrilled with the fit of the previous sweatshirt on me, this looks like it might work better on me. Looks cute with the silk skirt and cropped pants.
Oh, I love this wind-swept picture. You’re getting your very own America’s Next Top Model style wind machine for free. π
I have one pair of boyfriend jeans (Madewell) and if I was being really honest with myself they are more mom jeans than “cool” jeans but I got them for a really good price and I love the ripped knees. That makes them a little bit on trend, right? I want to get a better pair but I think I want mines to be a bit more fitted slouchy instead of strictly baggy.
So, I definitely don’t really need to buy more tees but I’ve been thinking I should buy a basic black and white version. I was debating if I should try Everlane because they have the loose and casual look that I want. I’m just really hesitant about the sizing.
If you’re in the U.S., I wouldn’t hesitate to try Everlane, because I’m assuming that returns are easy. (I’m in Canada and just can’t be arsed to faff around with returns and getting the duties rebated, etc.) So, I have three Everlane tops, all in large, and they’re all on the big side, so it’s my own fault. Next time, I’ll order a medium. π
Thanks for the heads up about the Everlane blog, Jen. I just checked out their sneak peek and everything looks cool. Though I can never understand the idea behind short-sleeved sweatshirts and sweaters. If it’s cold enough for a sweatshirt or sweater, it’s cold enough to have my arms covered.
I like the look and the cashmere cardigan. I’ve never seen an earth tone that I didn’t drool over. I thought of you yesterday, when I scored on a James Perse top at Marshalls. It was reduced to $12! I felt forced to buy it, even though I didn’t really need it. Glad that you’re feeling better, and settling into your new home. I’ve been absent here, due to an annoying bug. Good to be back!
i LOVE that short-sleeve style. that is one thing i don’t have. well, a cropped short-sleeve sweatshirt anyway π i love the idea of wearing it layered.
haha! i know, i felt weird publishing the picture for that reason!!
definitely try everlane – the returns are super easy, and it’s free shipping on two or more items, so it’s sort of a shame not to try…i think you could go with mediums in the t-shirts, i only have the v-neck style, and i think mine are smalls, which are pretty fitted, and i’m very small “up top”. i’d love to try their new u-neck styles though, not sure how those run.
i totally agree with this laurel, just like i NEVER can understand flip-flops in the winter (but you know, I can’t stand flip-flops ANYTIME or anywhere other than the beach) – but there’s something appealing about a short sleeve sweatshirt. i can’t explain it π
haha! i would have thought the same thing!! i have definitely done that before, bought something that was such a great price, although i didn’t need it. sometimes it works out that i wear it a lot, other times, i end up getting rid of it because i never wore it.
you’re making me itch to get to a marshall’s or tj maxx and see if i can find a $12 score. they had some on clearance a couple weeks ago i almost bought, but wanted to see if they’d go down a bit more.
glad you’re back! i missed your comments π
Your hair looks great, length, color, wind and all. I love Everlane silk blouse. I am a 34DD and a size 6 and button down shirts are hard to find for work. The small silk Everlane blouse work without gaping and makes my work dressing easy. I have not tried their cashmere but now I may try them.
thank you mona! i have one of their silk blouses also and really love it, although i don’t wear silk often, i’m too afraid of staining it…and it seems much too fancy for my ultra-casual lifestyle π but the quality is very nice and fit perfect. obviously, i highly recommend their cashmere as well – for the price, you can’t beat it.
I’m wearing my sexy boyfriends today after loathing them for being too short. I figured out they look great unrolled with ankle boots and a white button down shirt!
Mona, have you tried any of the Everlane tees? I’m a cup size up from you and part of the reason I haven’t ordered any tees is because the size chart makes me concerned whether any of them would fit in the bust area. It’s great that you don’t have any gaping issues with the silk blouse because that is always a pain/issue with buying button-downs.
good! i like to wear them unrolled sometimes too when i don’t want to show any ankle π
I love this on you! You look like one of those “Simple Chic” girls who say, “Oh, this old thing? I just tossed it on.” π
ha! thanks val π
