I was really excited about getting this skirt from the last Inhabit sample sale, but now that it’s here, I’m not so sure. I mean, I actually like it a lot, my fiance HATES it because he says it makes me look wider than I really am. And he has a point. There’s a lot of material on this skirt, it’s layered, has pockets, and it’s a faux wrap, so I can’t really make it flatten out like I would be able to with a real wrap skirt (if that makes sense…). So, I don’t think it’s my most flattering look ever, but neither do I think it’s the worst…
What do you think? (I can’t send it back because it was a final sale, but I’d love to know what you guys think anyway)
Wearing with:
James Perse Casual u-neck
Robert Clergerie platforms
Oh no! It’s so cute, I don’t think it makes you look wide in those pics. I ordered the same skirt after you posted about the inhabit sale – the ups guy just dropped off my package, but I haven’t tried on the skirt yet…now I’m kind of afraid to. But seriously, I think it’s cute on you!
thanks π the skirt is great imo, maybe not the best shape for me, but i like it. now go and try yours on!!
Actually, I really like this look. It shows off your curves in all the right places and I like the proportions it creates.
oh wow! thank you kate π
My gut instinct tells me that if you switch the top to the James Perse tunic you had on few days ago, dont tuck it in, and also wear flats (matt bernson love flats?) instead of the Clegerie (they do give you height but it distracts from the flow of the skirt, the platform is a bit too dressy for the flowy skirt), it would work better. The current combination makes the navy skirt dominate the overall look and I think that is what your bf is reacting to. I think it is a great piece, but it does have volume and it is dark color so I think it is a bit tricky.
I love this skirt on you! I also bought it after I read your post, and I’m wearing mine right now (with a white T and flat sandals). It’s super comfortable and soft and casual enough for Saturday errands.
your fiance is right..its not a great look. i can tell you arent that wide and the skirt does nothing to flatter you…the hardest thing for women is knowing how to dress for their body…this skirt does not flatter..sorry.
I happen to think it shows off your tiny waist and to me, that’s ALWAYS a good thing! (since I’m jealous of anyone that actually HAS a waist!) I think it’s cute and casual. Just what it’s supposed to be.
i think a part of this has to do with the fact that the skirt is black, and it’s harder to tell textures and details when a fabric is black. i think nanashi is right – if you play around with proportions of your top and shoes, you’ll get very different looks out of the skirt! π
miss sophie’s last blog post..dressing up is hard to do
