I had a love/hate relationship with my long hair. Most of the time I loved how it looked, but I HATED washing it. HATED it. I only washed it once every 3-4 days anyway, but I literally dreaded my wash days like the plague. So, I decided (while washing my hair) that it was time for a cut. If you’ve been following me for more than a year, you know my hair has usually been short, it had only been long since I moved to Austin a little more than a year ago. And I feel like shorter hair suits me better – it has more body when it’s short, and it’s just easier to maintain. For me anyway.

It’s not much shorter, but it feels so much better. And she added more layers around my face, so it looks shorter I think. I honestly don’t really like it a lot right now (I never like my hair when it’s clean LOL) because it’s a little too “styled” for my taste, but I think tomorrow once I’ve slept on it and added some product, it’ll be more me. I really did want to go a bit shorter, but didn’t want a bob like I used to have, I wanted something much less structured, but I think this is a good length to play with for a little while; I can always cut more off later!
And I don’t like this dress now that I see a picture. I’ve never really liked it much; it’s too long on me, so I have to belt it and blouse it out, which changes the look. It’s a few years old and worn only a few times, so I think it’s time for it to go to the consignment store…
Finally, the obligatory Instagram picture:
And, a couple more Alaska pics 🙂

Your outfit looks so cute and cozy! Super jealous.
And I like your hair, though I know how you feel about that too styled look! Though it’d be nice to go 3-4 days between washing my hair… I can barely go every other day. Sometimes every 2…

I hear ya on how annoying long hair can be. Mine is pretty long now (well, long for me!) and, while I don’t mind washing it, just dealing with it is a pain sometimes. When I sleep and roll over, I feel like I get tangled up in my own hair! haha Your new ‘do looks very nice! It’s definitely still long but hopefully not as cumbersome for you. =)
Quick question about washing your hair: How do you wash every few days with bangs? Do you wash the bangs on their own (say, over the sink?) or do you just wash them along with the rest of your hair every 3-4 days? And how do you keep your bangs from looking all sweaty and greasy in this TX heat? What is your secret?
i don’t have a secret – i just don’t wash my hair LOL. when my bangs really start to look greasy, i wash all my hair, and that usually happens on the 3rd day of no washing.
now that it’s summer, i’ll probably wash every other day, but my stylist did suggest that i could just wash my bangs. haven’t tried that yet…also dry shampoo helps keep your hair from looking very greasy. i haven’t tried a brand i REALLY love yet, but i’m getting ready to try out the bumble & bumble one.
I really love your dress!
Great new do! I can relate with hair drama of having long hair.
thanks ashe 🙂
i would die if i had to wash my hair everyday! although i always did until i let it grow out…it will definitely be easier to wash now that it’s not so long, it just got so tangled and messy trying to wash it. and took FOREVER to rinse out. ugh.
That is a great cut! Change is always a little tough the first few days! Your Alaska pictures are beautiful!
