It is COLD here!! I’m actually quite comfortable in what I brought, but I’d definitely prefer a longer, waterproof coat with a hood and more substantial also waterproof boots. It snowed most of the day we arrived then rained a lot today, so it would have been helpful to have been more protected from the rain. But we survived it all so far and have had such a great time here…if you drink enough Grolsch and mulled wine you can be pretty comfortable ;). Also, walking fast helps.
I’m so happy to say that now I’ve seen all of my favorite works of art in person – the Sistene Chapel in Rome and all/any pieces by Van Gogh here in Amsterdam. Of course I’d still love to visit the Louvre, but I feel very honored to have seen what I’ve seen so far. Even the city itself here is art; the buildings are so charming, the canals are beautiful, and I can only imagine how much more breathtaking it must be when the trees and flowers are blooming.
Anyway, given that we’re here and while I have been cold at certain times, I haven’t ever been uncomfortable, I feel sad that I spent so much time being anxious about what to bring and scared that I would freeze. Lesson learned. Planning and packing well is important, but at a certain point, you just have to let go and be confident that you made the right decisions. Then enjoy!
See you again back in the states on Wednesday!
You look great. Great jacket.
Repeating the same words: You do indeed look great. Have a fabulous time and enjoy
