High Rise Pocket Bike Shorts | large (I probably need an XL in these)
Paloma bra | large (a little tighter than I’d like)
Birkenstock Arizona Chunky Platform sandals | sold out in white – link goes to Black
Knees. Whoa. I told you I’m basically at the IDGAF stage of dressing myself again, but I’d be lying if I didn’t feel weird posting a picture of my knees. Midriff, no problem…knees, not so sure LOL.
I ordered these shorts from Girlfriend which kicked me up a level in their rewards program and “earned” me a free bra so I chose the Paloma. I don’t love it; I think I need to size up, but anyway I’ve gotten used to working out in one of my ARQ bras of tanks which are heavenly, so anything with any constriction is a no-go. I have noticed that Girlfriend pieces start out VERY snug and relax quite a bit after wearing, so I will try and wear this and see what happens.
The shorts also, are a bit snug and were tough to get on. I have five pairs of Girlfriend leggings in size large which are perfect on me, so hopefully these will give some with wear too. I’m actually looking forward to wearing them when it gets warm enough; I can see how a big tee + shorts outfit would be very comfortable and easy for packing and moving 😉 And hopefully I will get used to seeing my knees.
I’m excited about this new “enlightened” space I’m inhabiting with my body. It’s not new for me to live in a bigger body, but it has been 8 years since I did, and so it’s taken some getting used to. Anyway, the “issue” is not so much the way my body looks, it’s more what my body has a harder time doing now that it’s bigger. I love that I grew Hawk in this body, but I’d be happy to let go of some of the extra bits that came along with that. Moving everyday helps a lot, and I’m really enjoying the Peloton yoga and strength classes.
Side note: thanks so much to all of you who provided input/feedback on reading glasses! I don’t seem to have time to reply to comments individually anymore, but I appreciate them and read them all. Anyway, I tried out contacts and reading glasses for a day and decided I couldn’t do it haha. I didn’t see as well with the contacts, and then having to have the reading glasses near and get them on to do anything up close (eating, reading to Hawk, etc.) was way too much for me to handle; the costs far outweigh the benefits in this case. I am going to get my current prescription put in my old black glasses so I’ll have an alternate pair for whatever that’s worth.
Ah…having a baby, getting older, the joys of life 🙂 It’s wonderful, isn’t it?
Have a great weekend!!
Those shorts look amazing on you!! It’s funny how we all tend to hyper-focus on a physical part of ourselves that we’re not as secure about… when everyone else looking either completely doesn’t care or are just thinking, “Damn, she looks good!”
I bought my first pair of bike shorts in 2020 after years of not wearing shorts often. Wearing them makes me feel very free and secure!! It reminds me of when I was a kid and I used to run around 100% of the time in Hanna Andersson leggings or bike shorts : ) Once I had them on, I wondered what I had been so worried about. I just feel great in them!
I think you look amazing! I honestly would not have noticed anything about your knees and still don’t really notice it even though you mention it. I do understand that feeling about focusing on our own perceived flaws. I struggle with that too. It’s really nice that you’re back to posting again. I know that real life is busy but it’s such a nice thing to see your posts pop up in my blog reader recently, have missed catching up on you and your lovely family! Congrats on the move and the new house, so much excitement coming your way!
So glad you’re able to post again . And congrats on your move – exciting even if a little stressful, and so worth it to be closer to family.
For great, sustainably-made readers, check out this company – they are durable and so comfortable – and great price point for Americans given the disparity between our dollars.

Look forward to your future posts from “Hot-lanta”
Your knees are just fine! I know, we’ve all got things we don’t like about our bodies – I’d NEVER allow a midriff shot, for example. You’re exercising and that counts for a LOT! Keep up the good work of self-care throughout this move. ??
Are you a candidate for lasik? I’m thinking of doing this because I’m just tired of glasses and contacts.
i did ask about it a few years ago and because I have astigmatism in my left eye i remember my dr. saying i could do it, but I might still have to wear reading glasses … and i’m sort of afraid of the procedure. but man, i would love to wake up and just SEE …
