Right now I am on my way to Florida to spend the weekend with my father. It took EVERYTHING I HAD NOT to wear my new Freda Salvador flats on the plane, or even bring them with me. But I remembered Kelly’s comment on my last travel outfit post where she mentioned that she only wears things to travel that have been tried and tested. Wise words, indeed.
I wore them all afternoon at home and found them incredibly comfortable (yes, I put them on the second UPS dropped them off and didn’t take them off, only to change the outfits I was trying them on with LOL). If you look at the closeup picture below, you’ll see that there’s a little toe cleavage (which I don’t mind), and there’s quite a bit of room in the toebox since they’re a nice pointy toe. I did find that they rub a little at the heel, but not enough to be uncomfortable as I wore them. When I wear them for real, I’ll probably rub my heels with blister block first, or add some moleskine inside the top of the heel.
If you’re drawn to these at all, and can afford them, I would encourage you to get them at Shopbop during their coupon code (BIGEVENT16 for 15% off orders over $250, 20% off orders over $500 and 25% off $1,000 ends on Saturday). Freda Salvador also has good sales periodically, and coupon codes, so check there too (this patent version is very cool!).
This is a new shoe style for me, and I wasn’t sure I could pull the oxford style off, but now that I have them, and have tried them on with MANY things in my closet, I’m pretty sure I can, and that I LOVE them. Actually one of my favorite outfits I tried was my Raquel Allegra midi-skirt and black oversized top – because of the pointed toe, I can wear these with shorter dresses & skirts that show some of my leg.
So happy I tried these! Now, I can’t wait to get home from Florida so I can wear them 🙂 Well…not exactly…
Happy Weekend!!!

Those are adorable! I’ve watched Freda Salvador for a while, but have never gotten any myself. I keep thinking I will go to their store in SF one of these days to check them out in person….these also come in black patent, which I would totally get if I were getting these. 😉
Also–as a quick PSA–these are available at Azalea in sizes 9. 9.5 and 10 for $256!

Wow! They look great on the foot!! Very tempting but I know I wouldn’t be able to stand the flip-flopping on my freakishly narrow heels.
Those are SO freakin’ cool! I’ve loved Freda Salvador shoes ever since I spotted them on Instagram. They seem really well made and unique among shoe brands. And while they’re pricey, they seem worth it. I live flats and these bridge the casual/dressy gap so well. Love the way you styled them. A new fave!!!
How cute (you and the shoes)!
I’m interested in ordering a pair for myself (can’t find any retailers in my local area who carry the shoes to try on in person) – can you comment on whether they fit TTS, or should I consider ordering a size up/down?
I feel like they’re true Melissa. I am a pretty straightforward size 8 in nearly everything and took that in these. They’re narrow at the toe, but there’s room enough beyond so they’re not tight at all. That being said, I haven’t worn them outside my house yet…but I do honestly think they run true to size.
Ugh, I’m dying to own Freda Salvador shoes. They’re based in SF but the price tags kill me. I *know* they’re worth it. They had a local sample sale recently and the 100-person lines totally turned me off. Note to self to get there earlier and bring a friend to wait it out. I bet it was worth it! Love your pair, Grechen!
my friend in SF owns the exact pair i bought (for many years) and said she’s worn them into the ground. she thinks she can take them to a repair shop though and get them “refurbished” to keep wearing…they seem like a very sturdy, wear-forever brand. but yes, they’re a significant investment up front. you should definitely go to the sample sales!!
