Everlane Silk Tank | size medium
Hope News Trouser | black, size 40, which is at least one size too big on me

You guys probably know by now that whenever Everlane launches something new, I’m first in line to buy it! And since I’m trying to give silk another try (I do have one of their silk blouses, but it’s in a color, and …silk…so I really don’t wear it very often), I was eager to try their new silk tank. I ordered a medium, which is what I normally order in Everlane, and it’s quite big on me. Not big enough that I want to return it, but it’s bigger than I thought it would be I guess. Honestly, this is what I’ve found with Everlane – most items seem to run slightly bigger than you’d think they would…so if you’re worried about the sizing (VAL!!) running on the small side. Don’t.
I do love it, and look forward to the weather warming up enough so I can wear it. I’m not sure how I will layer it, maybe with a denim jacket? cropped cardigan? something open. I can also wear this over a long – or short – fitted dress. Mostly, though, I think I’ll want to wear it like this, just on it’s own with trousers or jeans. It is a bit of an a-line fit, and longer in the back, so it provides good coverage. And it covers my bra straps, which is EXTREMELY important to me! Overall, a good basic silk tank from Everlane. Makes me want to try the sleeveless button-down next…
Who else got one of their new silk pieces? What did you think? and who is SO EXCITED About the new trench coming at the end of the month? and the shirt dress???? ugh…
I think that looks great on its own! I love how it flares out at the bottom. I have a similar silk tank from Joie but it’s a bit snug around my hips (ugh). I was thinking of getting an Everlane silk tank but was waiting for your review. Now it’s definitely on my wish list. I love silk for travel because it’s light but either warm or breathable, and can be hand washed and it dries quickly. I agree that Everlane sizes do run large.
I’m also intrigued by the Everlane trench, although I have several trenches. The T-shirt dress interests me, too. In both cases I’ll wait to see what your reviews are before ordering! 🙂

I love the look of this outfit on you!! This is one of those ensembles that would definitely get an envious double-take from me, it’s that perfect. I don’t think the top looks too big on you, but very flattering with the a-line.
OK OK…I might have to go with clothing by Everlane! I DID purchase the weekender bag, but with my back, I need a set of wheels to go with it ????????????
Ooh, I like it! Definitely going on the wish list for after I pop this baby out 🙂 Then again, newborns and silk don’t go together so well….

it’s not TOO TOO big, it could just be a bit smaller i guess…i really think you should try the clothing – i think you’d be pleasantly surprised.
sorry to hear about your back. i could never lug a big weekender bag around anyway unless it was going in the car…
haha! probably not. ME and silk don’t go together so well!!!
I don’t know WHAT I was thinking when I bought it! But I love the look and sturdiness of it.
(Just making my bed and lifting the Q size mattress dd it to my back this time. Damned army corners!)
Grechen, how are armholes on the medium tank? Are they cut high enough so you don’t have to worry about your bra showing on the sides? I have been trying to decide between XS and S for the gray silk tank (and for the charcoal Ryan tank) and can’t decide if I should go for looser or more fitted–I just don’t want to have to return it if it’s too tight! And is the tank opaque enough not to need a camisole underneath? Thanks!
yes, the armholes are cut high enough so you don’t see my bra. and it’s completely opaque…(I also got the charcoal ryan tank with this order!) that is absolutely PERFECT. i just have to remember not to dry it, i accidentally dried my white one and it’s not the same…
that’s one thing i think everlane does superbly – coverage…
Ha, too funny–I guess we both love gray! If the armholes are high enough then I may just get the Small so I don’t risk it being too fitted. Does the Medium in the Ryan Tank actually fit you better than the M silk tank?
the ryan tank is a very different fit – a little longer, and slimmer. the silk tank is slightly a-line and longer in the back than in the front. honestly, if i were buying another silk tank i’d probably size down. not in the ryan tank because i’d like to be able to wear it with leggings…
Could I ask what your bra size is (maybe you could email me if you don’t want to post it)? I just want to be sure the tank wouldn’t pull in the bust and shoulder, but I am small-chested so maybe the concern is unwarranted.
haha, don’t mind posting it, although i’m not exactly sure 😉
lately, i’ve been buying “medium” from cosabella and eberjey, but i think my proper size is 34c, although i can’t see HOW i’m a c-cup. previously, i’ve worn 36b…i am very small chested…
Thanks! it sounds like I might actually be better off with XS then–I’m only a 34a.
This looks great on you! I think the size is perfect, actually. Similar to everyone above, I think the loose, a-line fit in this piece is perfect, particularly for keeping it casual. It will look great layered…under a denim jacket, cardigan, blazer, etc. I am also dying to see the trench…so cute! I love the way silk looks, but echo you and others in my concern for having to care for it. I have a toddler, so I’m always thinking about getting something wiped on me. This might be a nice piece to wear to work though! On the list…
LOVE this! Wish I was not such a klutzy slob (read: could wear silk).
ha! i am too though, which is why i NEVER wear silk, but somehow a tank is more do-able…we’ll see !!
