Everlane Linen Tank (small)
Miranda Bennett raw silk paper bag skirt (one size)
The Great denim jacket
Melissa plastic sandals | about 8 years old
3.1 Phillip Lim large Ryder satchel (three years old) | small version
Happy Wednesday! I have some random thoughts to share with you today, so I’ll organize them in a bulleted list 😉
- Here’s the Everlane linen muscle tank – size small – on me.  I like it, it fits, but as usual, I wish it was a little wider at the hips on me.  I am happy with the fit at the shoulders, and the neckline.  I also appreciate the higher neckline to keep my chest out of the sun, but sometimes I think it’s a little restrictive.  I’ve worn it a lot, and washed it once (it shrunk a teeny bit), but yesterday as I wore it, I noticed that the seams at the arms and neck weren’t lying flat.  I find that SO ANNOYING, and have only noticed it happening on Everlane’s tees.  Of course, if you enjoy ironing t-shirts, you can iron the seams down, but I would NEVER do that.  I was able to pull the seams taut on this tank and get them to lay flat for a little while, but to me, that’s a sign of slightly inferior quality.
- I’ve been trying to sell this 3.1 Phillip Lim bag for about a year.  I had it for consignment at a local place and then put it up on SLOWRE.  But then I accidentally deleted it from SLOWRE, and also decided to try and carry it again and see if I wanted to keep it.  I have always loved this bag, I think it’s incredibly beautiful and practical, but the thin shoulder strap can be rather painful and annoying if the bag is heavy, which is why I stopped carrying it in the first place.  But I used it this weekend on our trip to Florida, and hardly noticed the shoulder strap at all – in fact, I was very pleased with the bag as a carry-on tote for all my stuff, and it worked very well as a handbag while we were there. So….even though as you know, I’m pretty quick to sell things I don’t wear or carry for a period of time, I might try not to be so hasty. I think it is worthwhile to hide things away for future use if they’re something you truly love, then pull them out and use them periodically to reassess whether or not to keep them.
- I ordered this new The Great boxy jean jacket with credits I earn at Shopbop after thinking I needed one, and it turns out to have been a wonderful decision.  I wore it also this weekend, on the plane, at restaurants, etc. and was very pleased.  Then yesterday I wore it tied around my waist when I wasn’t inside in air conditioning.  It all feels very 90’s throwback, but I don’t care! I’ll write more about it later…
- And since it was supposed to rain off and on yesterday I wore my favorite plastic sandals (I don’t wear flip flops). I’ve had these Melissa sandals (made in Brazil from recycled/recyclable plastic) forEVER and they really show minimal wear.  I had another pair in a different style I didn’t wear as much (up on SLOWRE), but sometimes these sandals are all I wear for a while.  They’re comfortable, I don’t have to “worry” about the weather in them, and I love the style.  I highly recommend Melissa shoes (this pair is on my wishlist) if you have a flip flop aversion, like I do 😉 or just like an all-weather sandal with a little more character.
Have you tried the Everlane linen tank – the old style? I have two and love them. I wear them loose, a size M, which can be tucked in or left out. I am 5’6″, 125-130 lb and a 34 A/B. They are on choose what you pay right now.
Have the same old style Everlane linen T in two colors too. I hope they bring back that back if the new style quality is lacking. I also prefer the bottom on this old style.
i think i tried it last year? if i recall correctly, it was too big in the armholes for my liking…but i don’t remember…
Agree with you here – last year’s linen styles were MUCH better, but my partner shrank my tee in the dryer… I snapped up the tanks when they went on choose what you pay.
I bought the scoop neck, in a medium (same as last year’s) and the scoop is HUGE. It fits well otherwise, but bending over more than about 20 degrees leaves little to the imagination. Sad, as I love the charcoal color. May end up trying the dress, but I can not get into the muscle tank thing at all.
Cute outfit! And that bag is gorgeous…but I don’t need another black bag (Right, Val???), so…
I don’t know how you wear plastic shoes in the heat!!! 😉
thanks val 🙂 the shoes don’t bother me that much, since they’re so insubstantial. now if they covered my feet/toes, that would be another story altogether. i am a freak when it comes to covering my feet in the heat. i just can’t do it…
