Last but not least. Or maybe it is least; this is probably my least favorite outfit with the cropped cashmere sweater, but I wanted to try it. I also wanted to make myself wear this Raquel Allegra skirt that I haven’t worn much.
In conclusion – after a week of wearing this Everlane cropped cashmere sweater:
- When I first put it on, I felt like I’d finally found the cropped sweater I’d been looking for. The sleeves are long on me, but otherwise, the sweater fits like I wanted it to: close to my body and CROPPED. Of course, the more I thought about it, the more I second-guessed it.
- I generally prefer a more slouchy silhouette, more drape, and more coverage. But I’m trying lately to embrace my shape and not cover up my body as much as WANT to. Enter the cropped sweater. I have worn it every way I’ve shown you, and I like them all. They have all been somewhat out of my comfort zone, and probably look very different for me, but I always learn new things trying something different. This week I learned that I am beautiful and interesting no matter what I wear. And, that I really love experimenting with clothes 🙂
- It’s very hard for me to find anything that is truly cropped on me. I have had sweaters that are supposed to be “cropped” and aren’t. Same with jeans, pants, anything. I have been searching for a nice drapey cropped sweater for years. So…
- I will NEVER find the PERFECT cropped sweater for me. If I find one with great drape, it’ll be too long on me, if I find one that’s truly cropped, it won’t have great drape (= this Everlane cropped sweater)
- There is nothing wrong with good enough. Especially if it fits within one’s budget. This sweater is better than good enough, it is very good, and it is priced well for cashmere. I need to try the medium, just to be sure about sizing, but I don’t think I’m settling with this sweater. As I’ve said before, I’ve tried enough sweaters to know how difficult it is to find THE PERFECT one. Because it doesn’t exist.
- I need to better at trying more sizes. I did that with the Black Crane long quilted dress, and I should do that here, with this sweater. I will try the size medium and see what the difference in fit is. Maybe it will be ever so slightly more drapey and not look too big or loose it’s shape. Maybe not. I won’t know unless I try.
Done.
Happy Friday, hope you have an amazing and beautiful weekend!!
I’m so impressed with your exploration of different silhouettes. You’re inspiring me to take some new chances as well.!
Just letting you know i got the medium today and put it right on, of course. I really prefer the bergundy (got camel originally and it looked terrible on me – should have known) and the medium is actually great. I wear SM/MD depending on the brand – this is a bit wider without adding much length, and definitely still cropped. I’m between 5’3″ and 5″4″ for reference. It looks great with high waisted jeans!
This one is actually my favorite (which just goes to show you how everyone has an opinion!). You look great and are inspiring me to try different looks with cropped cardigans (I have one that I only ever wear over a dress). Have a wonderful weekend.
ha! yes, if there’s one thing i’ve learned in my 11 years of blogging, it’s that style is completely subjective…what looks “good” and flattering to one person doesn’t to another, and vice versa. that’s the beauty of it, no?
thank you 🙂
Putting the sweater aside for a minute – I need that necklace in my life.
Me too! Is it the 30″ length? I’ve been eyeing it forever. It’s perfect. And your outfits are all on point, Gretchen, but I love the white collared shirt under the sweater–that’s definitely the way I would wear it. Ugh, I don’t need cashmere living in California…but this one is calling to me. Rats!
Really cool and fashion forward! You ARE beautiful! 🙂
ha! it’s wonderful. more versatile than i thought…it sort of dresses everything up a bit.
thank you! i didn’t know she had different lengths? i’ll have to measure mine and let you know. i think it would be so pretty to layer different lengths of the same necklace…
Has anyone tried Everlane’s cashmere sweater dress? I am so curious… been looking for a great sweater dress for a while now, but I’m not sure about the length or fit.
Gretchen, any plans to try the sweater dress?
Thanks!
i got one of their cashmere “tunics” from last year (http://grechenscloset.com/outfit-everlane-cashmere-tunic/) , and i really didn’t like the look on me at all. the new ones look rather similar, so i’m not going to try one, but i love the double v-neck. that said, i wear my tunic from last year ALL THE TIME. at home. literally, i wear it almost every day until i’m forced to clean it. it’s the perfect thing for wearing at home with leggings when it’s cold.
it did pill quite a bit, but that’s pretty much expected. it’s easy to de-pill with a sweater brush.
hope that helps a little! i think if you like the LOOK of a sweater dresses on you, then i would definitely give it a try.
Thanks so much for this review! Everlane is finally trying out international shipping for the first time (only for a week though) so I jumped at the chance to finally try them out! I got their cashmere cropped sweater (grey) in a medium as I want a slightly looser fit. (I’m about 5’5″ and US size 6-8). The sweater looks lovely on you and I really hope it works out for me too!
