It’s actually fall in the suburbs of Atlanta! And cashmere weather. Sort of.
I ordered the Everlane Cashmere tunic and v-neck slouchy sweater last week, but had them sent to my mom’s house since I would be here this week. I wore the slouchy v-neck sweater on Saturday after I arrived and was sort of cold in my straight-from-Texas short-sleeve shirt and cardigan, and then the tunic yesterday all day. I was sort of dying from sitting out in the sun at my nephew’s lacrosse game in the afternoon (he won!), but the rest of the day I was fine.
I like both pieces (both are medium), but I think I love the v-neck sweater better. It is REALLY good. The medium just sort of falls nicely on me, but it doesn’t look too oversized. The sleeves are long on me, but that’s normal…sleeves are always long on me. Love the v-neck. I like the slouchy styles much better than the crew neck I got last year.
A note on the cashmere: I do find it a little itchy when I first put it on (I mentioned the same last year), but after some wear, I don’t notice it at all. I think it softens up a bit? It’s mid-weight cashmere, so it seems heavier than most James Perse cashmere and a little lighter than most of my Inhabit pieces.
The tunic stretched with wear, but on me it was definitely not “loose” fitting, as the description on Everlane’s site states. If I wanted it to be very loose, I would have gotten a large, but I didn’t want that – the sleeves would have been crazy long, and I wanted it to be more like a tunic and less like a dress. But if you’d rather have it be more like a dress, maybe size up?

Overall, I’m quite pleased with the new cashmere styles, especially the slouchy v-neck. And now I’m waiting on the chunky wool to launch on November 3rd, or November 2nd (my birthday!!) if you’re on the waitlist. There’s going to be a cardigan!!
Did anyone get one of the new cashmere tunics or sweaters from Everlane last week? What did you think?
That Everlane cashmere tunic is on my wishlist. I appreciate the feedback, I love how you styled it!
I can’t quite have knit materials (other than cotton) next to my skin so I always have a thin t-shirt under my cashmere sweaters 🙂

You look very nice in the tunic. I like the tunic idea on others but I cannot bring myself to take the plunge and buy it because I am afraid that it will loose shape (stretches out) in the bottom area from sitting.
I purchased a mens crew neck in moss and I like it. As you mentioned the cashmere is nice and not to thin. I like slightly oversize sweaters and that is why I went for the men section.
How is the fit of the v-neck, especially in the shoulders?
i always worry about that too, and don’t generally like tunics for the same reason – and this one does stretch out quite a bit, but it still holds some of it’s shape at the bottom so it doesn’t look too tent-y by the end of the day…
the v-neck is slouchy, so in the medium, the shoulders come down a bit on my arms, almost like a dolman sleeve, but not quite. i was planning on doing an outfit with that on Wednesday.
i am wearing a tank top under this, and i do usually wear a tank or a t-shirt with cashmere also just because i think it’s more comfortable. and i like to layer 🙂
That sweater looks so freakin’ comfy 🙂
Question: any comparison vs. the J. Crew cashmeres? I have historically always been a HUGE fan of JC’s featherweight cashmeres. I know you say this is more mid-weight, but just curious if you’ve had any experience to compare vs jc. (I am not familiar with James Perse’s myself!)
xo
Thanks for the review, Grechen! Good to know that Everlane cashmere gets softer after wear. I tried last year’s slouchy v-neck, but returned it because I found it way too itchy! But now I know I can give it another shot 🙂 Both you and the outfit look terrific!
thanks! just to qualify – i wouldn’t say i have very sensitive skin, except to jewelry, and camel hair. i am pretty hardy when it comes to fabric, although i really hate to wear itchy stuff…so, if you do have particularly sensitive skin, then i probably wouldn’t recommend everlane cashmere.
i’ve never tried j crew cashmere actually, so i have no idea how to compare…sorry!!! everlane’s cashmere is definitely not featherweight though.
I LOVE this on you! Dang…and that’s a great pose. Not that you’re a poseur 😉
You look happy and relaxed, I’m glad to see.
I’m one of those “too sensitive for almost anything” except the softest cottons and cashmeres – no more wool for me ( and, quite absentmindedly, I bought this cute J Crew sweater without even thinking of fabric content! https://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/sweaters/Pullover/PRD~B2405/B2405.jsp?nav_type=OBIN) But I AM a big fan of J Crew cashmere.
Plus, it now means I’ll have to layer a long-sleeved tee underneath, when I already feel like a furnace!
My shoulders are on a broader side, so it should fit well. I even consider sizing up to a Large (?).
Thank you:-)
