As promised, here are some more of the “professional” photos I’ve had taken recently. As you know from the outfit pictures I took earlier this week in our hotel room, in front of the mirror, I’m not giving up on my own fine photography skills just yet, but I do want to use Megan more often to photograph interesting outfits, and items I’ve received to review, so that you can get a much better look at details, and fit than I just can’t capture standing in front of my garage door.
On to the outfit. I’m sort of ‘meh’ on it, actually. I’ve worn this exact outfit outside of just for photographs, but never realized how much the cropped shirt poufed out in the front until I saw photos of it…it’s like it’s stretched out a LOT in front, so it’s very swingy now, which I don’t like at all. It works a little better alone, and with my Eileen Fisher slouchy pants, where the swing has more of a dramatic effect, I think. In this outfit, the shirt just looks much too big. I do like how the cropped top balances out the longer cardigan & the cropped jeans though. That’s a good proportion on me. Or one I like, anyway.
This is my second cashmere cardigan by Everlane (they sent me one to review last year) and I love it. This year’s version is a teeny bit different, just a couple of details are more refined, and the cashmere is just yummy. I took this with me to Austin this week and wore it over my James Perse maxi dress on a cool morning, and yesterday with these jeans and a Rag & Bone sleeveless turtleneck tee. It’s so versatile, soft, and affordable for cashmere. I highly recommend it. (any of Everlane’s cashmere really…)
Now the jeans. You’ve seen them a couple times before now (here + here) but I haven’t said much about them. Well, surprise, surprise, they didn’t turn out to be THE MOST PERFECT AMAZING JEANS EVER, and honestly, I’m sort of wondering how they passed muster to begin with. Maybe it’s just the bad lighting in my bedroom? Don’t misunderstand me, I like them, they’re ridiculously comfortable (the rise is SO high!!), and they’re pretty much exactly what I was looking for as far as shape, but they are really stretchy, and don’t hold me in at all, which frustrates me TO NO END; I want compression! I even went down to a size 28. It’s that super-stretch denim…it doesn’t smooth things out as much as I like. Gah! Why do I like denim so much when it seems to just not work for me???
I hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures! What do you think of Everlane’s cashmere? Shoes? In general? What has your experience been lately?
I’ve loved almost everything I’ve ordered from Everlane. I’m just “meh” on the LS linen t-shirt, as the first one had a hole in the sleeve, and the second one they sent me was beautiful until it shrank ever so slightly in the wash. It’s still okay, but I can’t handle any shrinkage being 5’11”. I adore the street shoes in grey. So comfortable and I feel like they up the style factor of my usual very basic stay-at-home mom uniform. I also love the clean edge t-shirts. I ordered both the white and black in LS. They are very simple in style, but the cuffs and hem are quite crisp and make me feel like I’m not wearing ‘just’ a t-shirt, if that makes any sense at all. I’m curious about the LS air t-shirt…anyone tried that? And Grechen, have you had a chance to try the new chunky wool? Is it pilling like last year’s version? So curious about that as well. Thanks for the great review of the cashmere!
Love the pictures Grechen – even the silly blogger pose!
I have the first edition of the cashmere tunic (actually wearing it today) and love it. It has the v neck and after wearing it last year many times, it still looks great with minimal pilling. I have the grey cardigan too and love it. I think their cashmere is great…can;t say the same for the wool pieces.
I do love those shoes…may have to consider.
haha! i do like that one, it’s just sooo silly 😉
i love the shoes so much, as stephanie said, they definitely add a little something “chic” to any outfit. my problem with them is that they flip up a bit at the heels and if i try to wear socks or put heel inserts in them, they become much too snug at my toes…
Ordered the cropped cashmere sweater and hoping to receive it tomorrow. Very excited to play with the cropped silhouette.
Has anybody bought the chelsea boot? Any feedback on its quality/fit?
they sent me this year’s version of the chunky wool cardigan after i wrote about the pilling problem…but i haven’t had a chance to wear it much yet, it’s just not cold enough for that. perhaps i’ll try it out at home and let you know 😉
i think someone mentioned they tried the air shirt and liked it? maybe in a comment on this post? there are so many everlane posts and comments and review here it’s hard to remember where someone said what!! i’ll try to find it though…
i do love the street shoe so much, and agree with you, they definitely take any outfit up a notch! do you find that your heel slips in them though? did you size up a 1/2 size? that’s my only problem with them. if i try to walk too fast, my foot will come out! but if i put heel inserts in, they become too tight.
Love the outdoor photos ( I’m a bit jealous! .. lol ). I’ve been eyeing the shoes, but I can’t get my big o’l foot into a pointy toe shoe.

First off, I love the colorful flowers! Secondly, I love those jeans. When I saw the photo on Shopbop, I was pretty meh about them. On you, they look great. I’m a sucker for super stretchy denim and super high waists, so I may need to check them out.
I had to size up about a full size in the street shoe, from my usual 10 to an 11. I don’t have the heel slipping problem. I’ll dig around for the mention of the air t-shirt. Thanks for your reply, Grechen! Love your blog!
thanks lindsay! i love the jeans, and like i said, they’re exactly the SHAPE i wanted, i just wish the denim was more structured and “firm” – but if you like super-stretchy denim, they should be PERFECT for you.
I can’t comment about the Everlane, because I’m not a part of “the club.” But I love the pic of you sitting by the flowers! (I’d suggest framing it for Leo as a Hannukah gift!)
OWN IT!!! You look cute!
