Elizabeth Suzann X Alabama Chanin organic cotton Marlena Dress | small
Birkenstock Arizona Sandals
I totally wasn’t expecting this to arrive so quickly, but wow. Interestingly enough, this dress arrived on Saturday while I was hosting the Elizabeth Suzann meet-up at my house! How crazy is that? Yeah, I know, not so much, but I thought it was cool 🙂
Anyway, as I do, I wore the dress the rest of the day Saturday, all day Sunday (at home) and am wearing it again now. It’s unbelievably comfortable, and I love how it just “fits in” with whatever it is I happen to be doing. It stretches nicely, but seems to bounce back also, not stretching out completely and loosing shape. The small is definitely the right size for me, but does “stick” a little to my ample behind LOL. The armholes are perfection, as is the fit up top, which is something I can hardly ever say.
I prefer to wear it with the crewneck in the front, but it does “feel” different when I wear it that way. Not uncomfortable, but like I’m wearing it the wrong way, you know? The neckline itself isn’t constricting, in that it’s choking me when I sit or whatever, it’s just that I feel it on my chest. This is only really noticeable when I first put it on, and then I forget about it the rest of the day.
The cotton is mid-to-heavy-weight and I wouldn’t want to wear it when it’s 100+ degrees here, but I don’t find it uncomfortable at 90 degrees. I think it will be even better at 60 or 70 with my woven kimono on top, or with a light sweater.
Oh, yeah, and I LOVE the color!!
Overall I’m incredibly impressed, and thing the price point is very fair given that it’s handmade from organic cotton. I would absolutely buy a second dress in black if it comes back in stock. (I did order the Ochre at first, but didn’t like the color on my skintone).
There are still quite a few pieces in the ES X AC collaboration left to order! Did anyone else order and receive anything yet? What do you think??
OH!! The meet up was so amazing – I loved meeting other ladies MORE in love with ES than I am. I did get to try on the Mara jumpsuit in linen, in the medium, tall, and LOVED IT. I would probably order the small, regular length for myself though, the medium was very large up top on me. I might consider the tall inseam though, since for a jumpsuit, it’s really important to get th rise right…don’t want to be uncomfortable sitting!! I also loved the cotton canvas andy trousers in medium, regular length – in the clay color. I may get those instead of the clyde culottes for fall.
This dress is definitely a winner, love the color on you.
OMG I am dyinggggggggg, this dress is EVERYTHING on you!! Love the color, and am totally jealous of your awesome Pure Barre booty 🙂
haha…thank you cathy 🙂
it’s totally pure barre!!
thank you marie!
Love the dress (especially the v-neck in front but hey, you have to wear it the way it’s most comfy for you) – and the colour. Really, really gorgeous on you.
What a pretty color! It is quite flattering, too. I’m intrigued by the Mara jumpsuit too, and (at 5’4) never would consider the tall! Interesting about rise, though. Was the inseam also very different?
yes, the inseam was much too long – and i think the rise was too long for me also, but i didn’t try and really WEAR it or sit around in it. i think if i order i’d stick with small, regular length and then exchange for the tall length if i feel like i need to?
What Cathy said!
I really, no REALLY love this dress! The color, the cut, the fabric….wonderful! And the price is really reasonable for a dress of this quality.
I’m 5’3″ and went with the regular length Mara. Still very cropped on me. I was worried that the rise was a tad too small (I have a long torso) but the linen loosened up just enough that it’s perfect (and this is my first jumpsuit).
So I got the same dress in the same color and I love it! I haven’t worn it out yet – I’m saving it for my birthday next Monday. I’m so tempted by the Eva top in black but I’ve always found that neckline a little too severe for me. But in the knit just maybe…
You look so fab here!!
I wore my ochre version all day yesterday and enjoyed it so much. This thick cotton is perfectly luscious. So glad this collection was restocked!!
I meant to order the Mara linen jumpsuit all summer, but never pulled the trigger. Now I think it might be too late in the year because I don’t wear much linen in the winter. And getting jumpsuits on and off for bathroom purposes are one thing in the summer when its your only layer, but in winter with sweaters on top? Not so practical! The cotton Florence khakis will probably be my next purchase instead. The Alabama Chanin dress does look great on you!
THIS is your color! I have never seen you look this good and I think it has everything to do with how the color brings out yours. You should seek more in this shade!
