I’m on my way out to my dr. appointment but OUTFIT!! It’s been awhile since I posted a real-time outfit and it was past time I showed you this Eileen Fisher dress I bought last week. It was a complete impulse purchase, but a good one. I have worn it a few times, usually with a darker layer underneath, but I do love layering black dresses over white tops, though it has to be done strategically.
This dress was MEANT for all sorts of layering; you really have to, or be okay showing a lot of skin. I might wear it over a bathing suit top or something that is clearly NOT lingerie if I wanted to get even more breezy, but I think it’s just fine with a full-length tee or tank underneath. It looks great over tanks, and muscle tees, even over long sleeve tees, and/or with a jacket or drapey sweater on top. It’s a great three-season piece.
Update on Dagny: We went to the dr. yesterday and decided to start her on prozac. She’s on the cusp, weight-wise, so it’s a lower dosage that we can increase if needed. I also tweaked her food just a bit and now she’s inhaling it the moment I set it down. I guess she was just bored with her food? Maybe we need to change it up every so often. The prozac takes some time to see if it’s working, but so far, just with her eating regularly, she’s much happier. Not completely angst-free, but better already. yay 🙂
EATING HELPS EVERYONE. So glad she is eating again. For me, the side benefit of getting the flu in June is that I’ve lost 5 pounds! Because sick + food and alcohol still don’t taste good.
I love this dress–was just looking at it today on the EF site. I suspect it will be too shapeless on me (I need some kind of shaping–at the waist, or an A-line skirt) but will check it out.
lol. yes, eating is GOOD 🙂
you know, i saw this dress in the email they sent out and was like, meh. and then, i was at the mall with a friend the same day and saw it in person, tried it, and didn’t think twice about buying it…
definitely check it out, but yes, it is very drapey, with no shape at all. but i think the beautiful thing about it is that if you wear a contrasting color underneath, it actually provides some shape.
Glad the vet visit was productive and Dagny is acting better!
I totally want to go try that dress now…..I’m supposed to be on a spending freeze but now am tempted to run to Nordstrom on a break. You are a bad, bad influence! If I cave, I’ll report back!
I really like this dress! I’ve been keeping an eye out for a black sleeveless dress to pair with a white tee, but I haven’t run across the perfect one yet. Also, can I ask what food you are giving Dagny now? We’ve been feeding Marnie the food her foster mom recommended, but she definitely seems bored by it. Not sure if that’s because she honestly doesn’t like it or because she tries to beg for our food (not that we give it to her). I do give Marnie small snacks like apples and baby carrots throughout the day, and she does scarf her dog food when she’s hungry. Glad Dagny is feeling better!
we feed her natural balance L.I.D. chicken & sweet potato and now i add some of the canned version in to her dry food and she loves it. i used to add pumpkin or sweet potato to her dry food, for added fiber and to provide a little wetness, but she hadn’t been interested in that for a while.
and dagny absolutely gets our food 😉 she doesn’t really beg, unless it’s meat, but we give her bits of plain chicken or beef, and she loves to lick my yogurt bowl when i’m finished (I just use greek yogurt, unsweetened). when i roast sweet potatoes, i leave some unseasoned for her too. she’s so spoiled, and i don’t care LOL
You absolutely have to change their food up. You like to eat different things – right? Our pup is about Dagny’s size and a pretty similar looking mutt even – we buy the big bag which lasts us ~5 weeks and rotate every two bags. So she’s due for fish next since she’s been on the pork variety (currently feeding Open Farms – humanely gathered meat, high protein, grain free – our babe also did NOT do well with any foods that used potato (yes even sweet potato, made her yeasty!), previously we’ve liked Orijen/Acana). Glad she’s eating again!
I’ve always heard that you should never change their food. I guess i still thought that was true even though I have been seeing more that it’s not necessary…
Going to look at open farms!
The jumper is sooo cute! Definitely wearable over TONS of things.
I was think what several of you have said: I love different foods…variety is the spice of life, right? Sounds like Dagny is on the upswing!
Yay! Sounds very promising! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Dagny adjusts well to the medication.
My cats insist on variety. They’ll snub any food they get tired of. But I know plenty of people who never change up their pets’ food. And my sister is another one who’s been told, by her vet, to feed her dogs the same thing consistently. So who knows? Animals are individuals, just like us.
My cat doesn’t like variety but I insist on it – I’ve had foods disappear and what happens if you can’t get the *only* food your pet eats?? My (spoiled, yeah 😉 cat also prefers kibble to wet, but having had cats with kidney problems in the past, I insist on a mix – so she gets a little kibble at midday and dinner, with wet in the morning and at bedtime (serving sizes calculated by caloric content of the various foods – I have a spreadsheet and everything 😉 Her favorite tuna hasn’t been available for a few months because the manufacturer (Natural Value) decided to cut out their middlemen and deal directly with fishermen and had to retool their supply lines…
Love that EF dress on you. I don’t like that kind of layer on myself (I have a hard time wearing camisoles even when I know I need to 😉 I looked at EF in NYC last weekend but didn’t see anything I had to have…..
You look lovely! I’m so glad Dagny is doing better. I know very little about dogs, but I admit that before reading your post I would have laughed at the idea of medicating a dog for anxiety. After reading your experience, I’m all , “oh poor baby! whatever it takes!” So, consider me educated. Thank you! : )
I know several pet’s who’ve been medicated for anxiety and personally I wouldn’t hesitate if one of our cats was showing signs of anxiety/depression. Hope the prozac works for Dagny. No harm in trying. If only our pets could talk! Great dress by the way. I can imagine it getting lots of use. Thought of you last night when I was wearing the EF tank dress that I bought from you on Slowre. I love it and will definitely wear it a lot this summer!
Unless your dog has a pretty cast iron constitution it’s a good idea to change to the new food over the course of a week. Add some new food to the old and then keep increasing the amount until you’re totally switched over. It doesn’t take long and can really minimize digestive issues.
For kibble we use a Canadian brand called Go! – I’m off to check out Open Farms as well.
I like the dress! I have an Eileen Fisher GC and have been struggling to find anything I like. Her clothes just aren’t “me”. This might be worth a try.
