I don’t know what possessed me to do double denim, but I think it works? It feels a bit strange, honestly, because first, I don’t wear chambray/denim tops very often, and second, when I do, I CERTAINLY don’t wear them with jeans!! I do love a good chambray top (as I know a few of you do too…), but I’ve never found one that fits me very well, and that I would wear very often. It’s just not me, I don’t think – but it’s more the style (button-front) that’s not me instead of the material. I LOVE button-front shirts, but they seem to frou-frou for my ultra-casual lifestyle. I know, I know…that’s ridiculous…because, hello..denim is super-casual…
Anyway, I’m in the “denim” mindset this week because I’m working on a piece about buying expensive jeans (yes, they’re worth it, but no, they don’t have to be expensive) AND I’m working through my “second” closet to determine what warm-weather items I need to purge, so these ended up together. I’m not getting rid of either of these pieces, FYI!
Also, I’m linking up with Eat, Sleep, Denim and Not Dead Yet this week because I thought it would be fun. Check out some of the other looks – I think it’s an interesting way to explore bloggers you may not have seen yet!
OH…and Skinstore is offering 20% off for Friends & Family right now, and while putting together a post at Grechen’s Codes, I sort of outlined my favorite skin/hair/nutrition products, so take a look if you’re interested. I’m So excited they’re carrying RMS beauty now, so I can replace my un-cover-up for 20% off!!
Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, you look casual chic and happy!

Yup, totally works. I think it works because the denims are such contrasting colours, so it doesn’t look like a Texas or Canadian tuxedo. Thanks for another inspiring outfit! (And good luck on your closet purge–I did some of that this weekend.)
I can’t wait for my reader request! I love this look on you, because the denim shades are different. If I saw you on the streets, I’d stop and give you a compliment, too. (I’m weird, that way.)
I think you nailed it with the styling! Love the look and I’m totally coveting the EF sandals!
It’s so funny that you would post this. I have one chambray shirt and although I love seeing it styled on other people, I barely wear mine because I’m not the biggest fan of button-down shirts on me.
However, this weekend I wore mine and paired it with a super dark denim pair of jeans, just like you did. I think it totally works because the tones are different.
Love this look on you! The trick with button downs is finding the right ones…they are surprisingly hard to fit. I love Frank & Eileen button downs…great, slim fit and perfect button placement (they create a nice v-neck on the chest). I love chambray shirts, but it is hard to find a good one. I have one by Frank & Eileen and one longer one by MiH Jeans, both of which I wear with darker denim. I have seen people pull off full denim-on-denim, but that hasn’t worked for me…
What’s not to love? Simple, flattering, easy, and chic. Works for me!
I agree, Lala, that button downs are hard to fit and I have a LOT of them. My only problem with Frank & Eileen is that an XL is a size 10 (!!!). Really? REALLY?!?
haha…great minds 🙂
i’ve wanted to try frank & eileen; next time i’m at neiman’s i’ll try one on…and i love the mih shirts – they look perfectly oversized, and they always seem to pop up on sale at the outnet.
Works great! Different colored denim goes, at least this season! And the accessories makes it work even harder … completely non-penitentiary looking! Hope you enjoy your visit to all the great stuff at Patti’s Vis Monday. Tons of stuff to look at, and you should feel right at home!

I know…the sizing with Frank & Eileen is really a pain. I am a 6/medium on top, but wear a large in Frank & Eileen for the extra width through the shoulders and bust, and also the extra length (I have a long torso). They are cut very slime, which I like, but it does mea. That the sizes are way off.
