Ok, clearly I need to work on my outside photography skills and plan the timing of my pictures a bit better. Sorry for the super-bright photo! But on to the top. Thoughts? I’ve honestly not decided if I’m going to keep it yet, I do love it, but you know how concerned I am with cost per wear, and even though this only cost me $30, that’s way too much for something I’ll only wear once or twice. I love it like this, and maybe with my leather jacket over it, but if I’m honest, how often will I wear it like that? Can I wear it as a “normal” turtleneck with my cashmere boyfriend sweater over it and jeans? Probably, but I also like to be covered in the front as well as the back, if you know what I mean…
I have been wanting to try a cropped top for a while, and tried on several at H&M that are already sold out, so I decided to quickly snag this one yesterday. I do REALLY love the look, and think it’s really flattering on me, with my small(er) waist, but still…will I wear it is the question.
Here’s another photo against my garage door for a bit more contrast. or something.
What do you think? Should I keep it? Or return it? (I haven’t worn it out yet, the tags are still on, I just wore it trying on at home and for this photo 😉
**sorry, before I even finished this, I went up and tried it on with my camel hair blazer on top, and LOVE it. So…keeping!
Definitely a keeper! I love the cropped top look, especially, with another layer underneath it. I can see a soft Splendid tank top too, come warmer weather. I’ve also been lusting after those Eileen Fisher harem pants. I want them so much, but I’m unwilling to pay the big bucks on eBay.
I really like the crop tops, I love how they highlight the waist (always a good thing). I know they can be a wee impractical for winter but with some clever layering they can be pretty versatile! I bet it looked great with the blazer – you’ve made the right decision!
You are definitely pulling it off, but I can see what you mean about cost per wear. It could be great over some of your maxi dresses and really great with a James Perse maxi skirt hiked up a bit.
thanks sarge 😉 – i can definitely see wearing it with maxi dresses more than skirts, somehow i don’t like the idea of layering it over a tank or whatever and wearing it with jeans/pants/skirts. seems too complicated !! but we’ll see…
thanks niki – i definitely SHOULD highlight my waist more, but it’s hard in cooler weather, so this seems a good way to try and do that more often. the wheels are turning!!
thanks 🙂
ebay is crazy. i know i’ve said it before, but i don’t get the inflated prices…especially for previously worn items. i’m still dying to get my hands on some raquel allegra, but for a steal. which isn’t happening…
I love that you are trying something a bit different!! My abs will never see the light of outside so I’ll live vicariously through you. 🙂
So true about ebay! The prices are nuts for used clothing! As if because someone “gently loved” it, I’m supposed to pay more?!?
I love this look on you with the harem pants. I’m not sure about the clogs with the outfit. That’s the only part I’m not sure my eye is liking. Maybe if you had the top on with a fuller, floaty skirt, then I would like the clogs. I’m trying to think of which shoes I can see it with….Your Robert Clergerie slides? A taller, chunkier sandal in black?
