I’m having a hard time showing my legs because of bruises & bites (and honestly, I still have a problem showing my knees), but I can only get away with it for so long here; it’s so hot, I can’t really care. I got this chambray (actually made from lyocell, which from what I understand is a little more eco-friendly than cotton) dress at Target while I was in Florida recently and love how soft and lightweight it is. It’s shorter than what I’m used to generally, but like I said, I can’t care anymore. Seriously, it’s still 94 degrees and it’s 8:30 PM.
Hopefully the dress is SO CUTE on me that no one’s paying attention to my legs 😉
what do you wear that’s a bit out of your “norm” during extremely hot or cold weather?
Grechen, I love, love, love this look on you. Yes, the dress is SO cute I am not looking at your legs. But really, girlfriend, when are you going to get over that? Your legs look better than ever. You know how to put together outfits that draw attention to the ‘right’ areas but still show a little sass. Love it – keep it up!
And, I’m getting that dress from Target instead of another one I like in the Anthro tag sale. (Look away, look away!)
My norm for super hot weather is sleeveless dresses (knee length or maxi, depending on what I’ll be doing) and either cute flip flops or strappy sandals. Always a cardigan along in case of AC freeze-outs. Oh, and great earrings.
It IS cute. I never thought about my knees until I was shopping with a friend and we were talking about our flaws and she said something like, “Yeah of course, your knees..” She had thought I said something about me knees. But I had’nt! I never even looked at my knees! Until then. Anyways, nice dress. It is sunny here in Dublin and I am so glad to have dress weather. I’ve been through Irish summers when that never happens!
The dress looks great, and your legs look perfectly proportional. Please stop obsessing about your legs! I think the style of this dress, with the nipped in waist and slightly flared skirt, is extremely flattering onyou.
Cute! I actually wore a chambray dress yesterday as well, though a very different style.
My thing is that I HATE shorts (which I know you do too) and try not to wear them whenever possible. But with a one year old to chase after, sometimes wearing dresses isn’t the smartest move. So, when it gets really hot and I know I’m likely to be crawling around on the ground or a similarly ill-suited-for-dress-wearing activity, I’ll bust out my one pair of J.Crew shorts. And then I feel self conscious all day.
you’re right susan…i need to get over it already!! i did actually buy these shorts today, so i guess i better!!
the target dress is great, it does wrinkle a bit while wearing it, but that’s to be expected, i don’t care about it very much.
i bought shorts today!! these, from Loft – i really like them, because they look like a short skirt basically, but it’s very hard for me to get used to showing so much of my legs. i feel naked. i will probably reserve them for walking the dog and family vacation, but at least i’m trying 🙂
thanks jen. i know. i’ll stop already 😉
yay for dress weather (and sun)! i would have a hard time living in a climate where i couldn’t wear dresses most of the time…
Girl – do not even worry about your legs. Every female in Texas is covered in bruises (from getting in and out of the pool/lake) and mosquito bites. You look awesome in that dress!! Color and a short dress – you are so daring 🙂
It is great to see brands like Target offering more eco friendly alternatives. I really love this chambray dress such a versatile piece!
Got the Target lyocell chambray dress last night…after a search through the store and finally locating it in the clearance section! They had one M and one L, and glad I tried them. You are SKINNY if you’re wearing the M, as I thought it ran small. $25 with tax!!! Thanks for the inspiration, Grechen.
what a great deal!!! so glad you got it.
haha! i know, right?
