Dansko clogs
I’ve never been much for style rules, but then again, I’ve never worn white until recently. Turns out, it’s quite fun! (wearing white AND breaking style rules…)
I love these “white” overalls (they’re more creamy white, which I prefer) with the white dansko clogs. I’d even wear a white tee underneath, but I happened to be wearing this JP sweatshirt yesterday when I picked the overalls up from the tailor and proceeded to wear them the rest of the day 🙂
What are some of your favorite style rules to break?
These overalls are pretty rad. Kinda remind me of a pair by Horses Atelier (in black) which I’ve had my eye on for years. Trouble is, the only place to buy them now is their online store and it’s in Canada. I fear the customs charge on an item over $250. As far as silly clothing rules go, supposedly brown and black don’t go together (so I’ve heard) but my eyes strongly disagree. Plus, there are so many shades of brown… maybe it depends on your coloring. P.S. I am wearing white today, post Labor Day 🙂
LOVE horses atelier!! i really want one of their long sleeve flight suits, but am so afraid of the sizing, and the price, that i haven’t been able to pull the trigger yet…
i like brown and black together, but i don’t have any brown (perhaps it’s time to add some?) so I’ve never tried it! i guess i have camel/light brown though… i do also like navy and black together, but haven’t acclimated to it yet LOL, but now that i’m adding color in more frequently i’ll get there 🙂
yay for white after labor day!
Yes, their jumpsuits are so good! Do you mean the “field suit”? I want one so badly I had the belted version in my cart and almost pulled the trigger but then researched customs on clothing and textiles to the U.S. and was put off. Like, I hope it’s not an extra $100. Apiece Apart has a similar version and I love their stuff but I like the HA one better. Navy and black looks good to me also. Mushroom brown is almost a grey and a neutral, pairs with everything. I also like chestnut brown, though mostly for shoes and scarves. Thanks for your reply!
yes, i was just too lazy to look up the proper name for it LOL
i have received lots of items from canada via garmentory – maybe none over $250 though – and never pay extra customs, etc.
someone else here has ordered from horses before, perhaps she’ll chime in on sizing and pricing again 🙂
there are lots of similar types of jumpsuits out there, that’s true, but i always come back to horses. i think it’s just the most chic in a very understated way, if that makes sense…
I also love brown and black together! I have some dark brown chelsea boots with black soles and I like the way they look with black jeans. I’m really fair-skinned but like wearing a lot of black, brown adds some warmth and breaks up the monochrome (which feels overwhelming on me) and draws on my hair color.
The dungarees look great – the colour (or lack of?!) really suits you. Loving all your recent experiments with different colours and silhouettes – it’s great seeing your style evolve.
You mentioned a while back that you were planning on taking your hair platinum blonde – is that still the plan? I’ve been wanting to take mine really short for ages now but I’m worried it won’t suit me or that it’ll be a hassle to style. I feel it’s an itch I need to scratch though, to get it out of my system!!
i do really really want to do platinum blonde but i think i’m going to stick with brown/blonde for now, first because my hair doesn’t lighten very easily, and second $$$$$ – i’m going to take it lighter than it is, and then stick with that for a bit i think!
You look great !
I’m pretty unaware of the ‘rules’ mostly because I haven’t read a women’s magazine for decades, and the only style blogs I follow are of real people dressing for real life, and I only follow a couple of those.
Of course this means I mostly have little idea of how to dress myself, however it also means I enjoy dressing to please myself, mostly. I say break those rules! Wear what feels good and hang the rest.
That pun was totally unintentional, honestly.
How about the rule of “linen is only for spring and summer”? I have so many linen clothes now that I love to wear and I plan on wearing through the fall and winter. Granted, our fall and winter in So CA is pretty mild but still gets down to the 60’s (!) so I intend to layer with linen 🙂
