Obviously. I am not a boy. But how does one wear boyfriend jeans, converse low-tops & a tee (while also having a short haircut) and not look like a boy? This is perhaps the “issue” many men have with women and short hair. I love my haircut, but with it so short, I sometimes feel like I need to wear more makeup or more feminine frocks to “make up” for my hairstyle. Ridiculous, I know, but I feel it.
Undoubtedly, you’ve noticed the BRIGHT RED bag hanging on my hip today. I’ll be honest and say that I’m not actually carrying it right now, but I have tested it out for my weekend super-fast trip to San Francisco and it is AMAZING. I worked with Andrea at Forzieri to pick out a bag to review for you guys and the Jerome Dreyfuss mini-twee I originally wanted sold out (they have a GREAT sale going on), so I went with the Momo. This bag caught my eye immediately and I fell in love with it, but in my infinite quest for practicality, I constantly tried to talk myself out of it. “It’s too small,” “it’ll never hold my sunglasses (they’re big),” “The color is so RED!” And so on…But the moment it arrived, I knew I would love it forever. It does indeed hold my sunglasses and everything I NEED (not 11 lipglosses) for walking around the city. Who knows, maybe I’ll love it so much I’ll be able to pare down my everyday items and carry it all the time?
Stay tuned next week for a more detailed review of the Jerome Dreyfuss Momo bag with pictures from our anniversary trip to San Franciso 🙂
that bag is DARLING!

Great bag, but yeesh, the price tag! I used to carry huge kitchen-sink bags, but recently started carrying a little blue Kate Spade cross-body that I found off eBay. My shoulder loves me for it.
I’m a long-time reader/lurker, but I had to comment to say I love your new hair, and I have the same issue with having short hair. My hair is currently long, but whenever I get the urge and chop it off, I do find myself wearing more makeup as I tend toward the simple and non-frilly when it comes to clothing. Bright lipstick seems to be the thing now, so that’s a great way to “girl up” an outfit. I think accessories (a great scarf, belt, jewelry) can help a lot too. In any case, I think you look great.
Are you implying that one does not actually NEED 11 lip glosses in everyday life?? I feel so liberated! Maybe I can finally get rod of some of the 24 lip glosses I’m carrying around………

i am implying that. putting it in practice is a completely other thing entirely 😉
thanks eleanor. i’m not quite sure yet if i’ll keep the hairstyle. i really do like it, but it’s quite high maintenance for me – in terms of both getting it cut more frequently and the makeup thing. i tend to go more for the “natural” look most of the time and wear the bare minimum…and never bright lipstick!! although i do own some, i’m afraid to wear it 😉
No, dear, with those curves you are definitely NOT a boy!! I don’t think anyone would mistake you for one without makeup or a red bag. But, as for said bag, it is SO cute and I dream of being able to carry one so small and fit my necessities in it. Maybe I should weed out my purse along with my wardrobe? 😉
When I had short hair I was in high school, didn’t brush it, or wear makeup. If I had short hair now, I would definitely feel like I had to wear more makeup/dress girly. Do you actually have to, probably not, but I know I would feel that way, too. Love you hair, lady!
I am still traumatized by my jr. high yrs. when I had a pixie cute, but wore little to no makeup and to make matter worse, had little to no chest. I made this cute little peasant top and matching skirt, wore them to a father/daughter dinner at my dad’s church and this little old lady comes up to Dad and says, “So how old is your son?” I wanted to crawl under the table. 13, no tits, in a dress, and I STILL looked like a boy! (maybe she had cataracts???)
I’ll see you those boyfriend jeans and raise you a pair of J Brand cargos… because that is exactly what I wore yesterday (CdG Converse included)! Too funny. And yes, I did feel the need to wear lipgloss with that outfit, even to walk the dog.
haha!! i love it…
