Okay…to all of you out there screaming for shorter skirts (you KNOW who you are LOL), here’s one. I love my body, really I do, but I have issues with my legs – my calves are huge, I have no ankles…it’s just really tough for me to think I look “good” in shorter skirts. There, I said it. That’s why I don’t wear them very often, that, and it’s nearly impossible for me to find skirts that fit well. You want to know what’s up with this one? The waistband is tucked under my bra! It’s too big, and too long, but it can’t be hemmed because it’s reversible, and double layered. If it’s not hiked all the way up like that, the hem hits my calves at their widest part. Ick.
I hope you like it 🙂
What I’m Wearing:
James Perse Nylon/Cotton Ribbed top – 20% off at Tobi with code 20GRECHEN
A Common Thread by Rozae Nichols reversible silk skirt (bought from Barney’s Co-Op 3-4 years ago?)
Robert Clergerie Platform Wedges
Alexander Wang Donna Hobo Bag
What are you talkin’ about girl? You look great in skirts that hit at the knee! And, you definitely have ankles (not a “cankle” in sight-lol) I like this outfit and think you should go out and find more a-line skirts. It looks right-on!
i’m a big believer in wearing things that make you feel good about your body and therefore comfortable in your outfit and in your own skin. i don’t really think it’s always good to just ‘show some skin’ for the sake of showing some skin. that said, i like how you improvised the long skirt into this look – it’s very flirty and springy!

thanks sophie! i totally agree with you. (and oh, how i love your saltwaters!!! i am tempted by the yellow pair)
i knew you’d be happy 🙂
i do agree that i look good – so does my fiance – it’s just harder for me to to see i guess…
i forgot to add that your shoes totally make your legs look fab in this look! another reason why i think nude/beige shoes are universally amazing 🙂
and yeah, you should totally get the yellow patent saltwaters. they were all over the boutiques last year, and i’m sure they’ll be selling like hotcakes again this year.

you are such the enabler 🙂 i will definitely consider the saltwaters…although i really don’t need another pair of flat sandals. they would look great with my navy maxi dress though……………………..
along with my birkenstocks, i consider my saltwaters my happy summer sandals. they’re so comfy and make me happy with every comfy step i take 😀

which birkenstocks do you have? i live in my mephisto helen sandals (http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=EC1079132), but they’re worn out, was thinking of getting these vegan birki’s (scroll down) http://www.greengrechen.com/2009/04/19/featured/10-fabulous-vegan-sandals-spring/. i used to wear birkenstocks exclusively, but i think the mephisto fit my foot better…
I have more skirts than I care to think about that I have to wear tucked up under my bra. I’m sure this is partially because I’m short, but really, skirt makers, what is with those weird lengths?
Laura V’s last blog post..Kitchen demolition panic time!
LOL, really? you do that too? i hate doing that, but it’s totally necessary with this skirt.
Grechen you look great in that skirt!! You should experiment with that length more, I think too many of us are conditioned to be over-critical of the way we look, and this will be one of the few things that guys can be right about, how you look great!
