Oak NYC asymmetrical maxi dress
Birkenstock Arizona sandals
This is it. All I got. I’m wearing this right now, and it’s boring, but reliable. It’s going to be in the mid-90’s today and I have to run errands (container store, target, ikea…the usual lately), so easy and cool (temperature LOL) is what I’m looking for. It will start to get cooler in the next couple of days though, so I’m looking forward to hopefully being able to wear my Elizabeth Suzann Rebekka kimono. I did wear it at home Saturday night – we had friends over for dinner and my husband turned the air down REALLY LOW and I was freezing. So it was perfect 🙂
Speaking of Elizabeth Suzann, did you see the feature on her at home, in the new knits?? So good. Makes me want that Elise dress; it looks amazing on her. She also included some of her favorite resources for home items, and you better believe I’m clicking!!
Does anyone have any preliminary reviews of their new knit pieces they want to share?
I’ll have pictures up this week. I’m still trying to arrange my office and find a good place for outfits. This looks like it might be it? The light in my office is amazing – it’s very good all over the house, actually, there are SO MANY HUGE windows. I’m in heaven.
My mom is coming in town tomorrow and I’m looking forward to doing a few non-house related things with her, like the Dallas Arboretum, and maybe the museum, so I might take another day or two off here and there. I know…such a lady of leisure I am lately !!
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you have a wonderful week!!
Did you see her plans for signature update? What are you thinking about it? (Some of your faves are disappearing!)
We seem to have skipped fall in Northern Colorado and gone straight to winter–it’s snowing today! So no issues here with it not being cold enough to wear my ES kimono sweater! (But it might be TOO cold for it).
I really love my ES sweater. I think it’s the most expensive piece of clothing I’ve ever owned, and I’m a little afraid of damaging it–I had a necklace catch on it and made a small pull that seems to be hidden. I bought the OS and it is the perfect size for me as a size 12. I had serious concerns about ordering it and changing my mind while I was waiting for it, but if anything, it’s made me want to order more from Elizabeth Suzann in the future. Lovely quality and knowing where it was made and how makes me appreciate it more.
to be honest, i haven’t paid a whole lot of attention to the update…just because i haven’t had time to really go through everything (there’s a lot to read!). i know she’s discontinuing raw silk, which i really liked, but i’m moving towards more linen anyway, so maybe that’s okay. otherwise, i’m more interested in seeing what’s new than what’s being re-worked, if that makes sense. i feel like the items i have will last quite a few more years, so i’m not worried about “stocking up” or anything LOL
what are you thinking?
i’m so glad you like it!!! i bought the one size minus, and i love the length of it, but i feel like it could be a little bigger around on me. not so much i’d want to return/exchange it, but…
i can’t wait to come to denver in a month 🙂
Grechen…it sounds like your new digs are really nice!!
I hesitate on buying expensive knits because my jewelry always catches on knits vs. woven fabrics…and in the winter I want wools not cotton fabrics.
The only change noted for reworking the ES patterns that I don’t like, is on the neckline of the Georgia T. Liz said she’s bringing it in 1/2 inch on each side. I really like the current neckline, and think that bringing it in will make the neckline too high and crew-like for my liking. I much prefer a bit of exposed collar bone, and in the summer, who really wants a higher neck…not me for sure!!
I don’t have any of the raw silk pieces yet, but have several on order.
I once went to a mall in Dallas. It was the first mall that I didn’t find obnoxious. I think it was called NorthPark. It’s super minimal and modern, with lots of contemporary art that seems to comment on fair labor practices… have you been?
Yes! I like north park as far as malls go ;). It’s got a very nice mix of stores and it is very light and airy so it doesn’t feel like a “mall. I’m definitely taking my mom to Eileen fisher there!!
I have this same worry about the changes to the neckline of the Georgia. I bought my first one earlier this year and already find the fit going over my head (is my head bigger than normal?!) a little bit snug.
I’m liking that knit Elise dress in marled black more and more too. ES’s blog post on home life and the knitwear line was really fun and interesting to read. How many LBD’s are too many though? The Elise dress reminds me of the JP open back dress which I have in black. So I feel like I can’t “justifiably” purchase the Elise b/c of the similarities. What do you think, Grechen?
You, me, and Tea Leoni (Madam Secretary) – I just had my hair chopped today to the just-below-chin bob in my ~3 year cycle of cut & grow. Still need to color (I do myself, and I’m going away next weekend, so I’ll just have some grey & roots…) I did a blunt bob instead of layered this time – I haven’t had blunt since high school (late 80s) maybe? We’ll see if I like or not. Yours looks great!!!
I have the same dress–does your/has your neckline gotten stretched out? Cuz mine has, sadly 🙁 Despite reshaping efforts.
you know, now that you mention it – it has stretched a little, but i hadn’t really noticed. but that must be why it’s hanging off one shoulder lately…i’m not sure what to do about that!
i think it’s similar, but will be much more stretchy because of the knit material. which is why i hesitate honestly – i would be afraid it would lose all it’s shape with wear…i tend to like FITTED, or loose, not in between!!
Enjoy your time-off with your mom! Great spot for outfit pics, imo.
Ugh me neither. Thanks for sharing.
