James Perse tee
James Perse recycled cotton skirt
LD TUTTLE wedges
Alexander Wang Donna bag
I got this James Perse skirt a few weeks ago and have worn it a lot whenever it’s warm enough, and today it’s in the mid-80’s. I’m completely in love with it, not only because it’s made from recycled cotton, but the color is great, and it hangs beautifully. It’s cling-y around the hips, but all James Perse skirts/dresses are. It’s also a bit see-through, so I generally just wear my Spanx boyshorts underneath and that takes care of the cling-y-ness as well as the see-through. I haven’t washed it yet, and I will admit I’m a bit nervous about that. I think I’ll wash on delicate in cold water and hang to dry.
Anyway, I can’t recommend this skirt highly enough – it’s available in gray on the James Perse website, which I’m also tempted to get once it goes on sale. I think the fit is super-flattering; I love the way it flares out at the bottom!!
Thanks for all of your input and great discussion on body image issues this week. All of the comments were so insightful & helpful, I look forward to more (hopefully positive) discussions in the future π I’m going to continue working on creating a more positive dialogue in my head, but I’m so glad we can have an adult, frank discussion about body image and self-esteem issues here. Every woman struggles with these things, why not struggle together?
Have a great weekend!!
oooo love this outfit–simple and chic and really sets off your hair!
I love this skirt on you! And thanks for showing us how this fits. I’ve been eye balling this skirt for weeks, but wasn’t sure about the fit.
You are 100% right–it is very flattering and I love the little flare at the bottom. So comfy and chic!
Hi Grechen,
The skirt really looks nice on you. Most of my skirts also flares out as I really like that style.
I finally got my Norma Repetto wedge, size 40. It is so simple, it doesn’t look like a $310 shoes.
I bought it for my birthday next month. I also bought 4 clothes, 4 pairs of shoes, tons of flowers for the front of our newly built home, a new camera, and a new threadmill. I keep telling myself those are for my birthday. I better stop as I already spent close to 2K. Except for the Repetto, I bought all those at the military Exchange as I’m a retired U S Air Force.
My husband bought me a white and cream Queen Pratesi sheet set for $392 each. I had much nicer Supima damask bedsheets for $120. I won’t be wanting any Pratesi as I don’t think it is worth the price.
Cheers, Thelma
it’s great – the fit is different on me than on the models on shopbop & james perse because i’m hip-y; i have to wear it up on my waist instead of low-slung like the models wear it. that’s better for me anyway, because it makes the skirt exactly the right length π
Skirt looks amazing on you with the white tee, if I may be so bold, is it that different than the slub tank dress in fit? Not sure what size I might HAVE to have! I have the slub tank maxi dress in the natural but it looks so great on you I may just have to have the paneled skirt also! Not sure why but I don’t wear the dress that often. I suppose I could just throw a white t shirt over it and have a similar look? I think the panels really make the fit special. Thoughts?
I’m hippy too, so that is good to know. It’s super flattering on you π
That’s a keeper!
i’m not sure which maxi dress you’re talking about…i have one that’s a few years old that was a slub maxi dress, racer back, and a very a-line shape towards the bottom. is that the one? if you’re talking about the new dress with the slit up the side, the fit of that and the skirt are totally different.
i totally think the paneled skirt would look amazing on you. with boots especially π
