Ah…the hazards (and benefits) of taking outfit photos in a public place: you meet your neighbors, spend way too much time talking, and then embarrass yourself by taking pictures of yourself outside!! I shouldn’t say embarrassed exactly, but it did feel rather strange, and I’m sure appeared strange to my new neighbors, even though they know now that I’m a blogger. I didn’t go into too many details 😉
Here you have the first “location” shoot in our new home. Which is your favorite? I really like the first one, if I can figure out how to blur out the A/C units and power box without making the photo look so…blurry…but the second is good too. I’ll keep playing around, but today this was the best I could do. I don’t even have a full-length mirror up yet, so it’s a miracle I look halfway decent!!
Don’t forget the Shopbop sale code ends today; the top I’m wearing is on sale, so it would be $75 after the code. I ordered a couple more James Perse pieces, this sweatshirt, and this shirt (in white) – of course. Did you guys get anything??
Hullo you!
Great light! And yes, I embarrass myself to death. But resurrection is granted;).
Grechen, what size are you wearing in this top?? I can’t decide between 1 and 2 if I’m usually XS or S in other brands. I have wider hips so that’s my concern.
Its a size 2…and you know I have big hips!! I love the way it fits.
I like the top location better, but they both backlight you nicely! I do most of my shoots on the sidewalk outside our house which is across the street from an often busy park. So I get a lot of side-eye. 😉
I like the outfit and location(s). I don’t have a personal preference, though, as to which is more photo-flattering. (Maybe your new neighbors, will even start reading your blog.)
You look great!
I am still weighing this Dagmar top…

i know it’s too late for the code, but i love that top…the color/pattern is great !!
thanks! maybe they will, although that would be a little weird i think…a little too close for comfort!!
thanks!! i love your sidewalk 🙂 i’m going to have to get used to it i guess; i’d love to do more “location” shoots…
haha! thanks lisa.
Looks like a lovely and green housing complex!
If you didn’t want to have to smudge out the HVAC equipment, how about standing in front of the garage door? I’ve seen that on other style blogs. It makes for a nice neutral background so the outfits shine. Or would you find that too boring? Maybe just once in a while?
i could try that, but it depends on where the sun is shining; i’ll definitely have to play around with location!!! and timing…yesterday i was taking pictures when my neighbor walked out – saw me and didn’t realize i was “posing” LOL
Honestly, you look great in both, but I’m not sure I’m crazy about the garage door as a backdrop. As a friend’s 16-yr. old daughter once told me about a job she quit because she didn’t like it: “It isn’t aesthetically pleasing.” ha ha
