WEARING
James Perse funnel-neck sweatshirt dress |
Nike Free running shoes |
Alexander Wang Rockie bag (gift from Azalea) |
You may remember these shoes from the James Perse holiday campaign, and you probably ALSO remember that I was confused by James Perse’s styling of them with dresses, skirts, etc. Now, as with all things James Perse, I have come around and drunk ALL of the kool-aid š I succumbed to the Birkenstock Arizona sandals this summer, and now, I’ve jumped on the black Nike sneakers bandwagon. And I LOVE them. I’ve worn them constantly since getting them (thanks to my dad!) – mostly with pants/jeans/leggings, but I’m fully on board with wearing them with a dress. THIS dress, is specifically perfect for these shoes; I’m not sure I would wear them with a more fitted skirt/dress, but we’ll see!
They will be perfect with the James Perse crepe surplus pants, which I will get when Shopbop does their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale/code later this week (I’m guessing they’ll do a tiered code like spend $250 get $50 off or similar). And of course they’re multi-tasking as running (more like fast walking!) shoes while I’m on vacation in Florida. Never fear though, I’m not neglecting my Vince blair sneakers at all, just not wearing them when it might rain, or if they could get very dirty (I would not wear them to the F1 race last weekend, but I did see a guy wearing them!!). And I didn’t want to wear them the last two days in the car – I’m trying to be rather delicate with them since they’re haircalf.
Anyway, I’m glad I tried them, and now I know better than to EVER question again the wisdom of the stylists at James Perse; they know what they’re doing. And in case you weren’t convinced yet, I AM the world’s biggest “James Perse fangirl”…the domain name is registered and just waiting to be filled!! Hopefully I’ll get around to it before the end of the year, but that’s being extremely optimistic given that we’re moving in December…
Happy Thanksgiving week!!! Hope you’re enjoying time with your family.
LOVE this outfit!
And I just tried that dress on last month! It’s at the Saks Outlet here. I was on the fence because I am between 1 and 2 in that dress. Though in the sweatshirt dress I am a size 2 (it’s a bit more snug).
You look fabulous!!!
And I am glad you did! They look great with the dress and you look comfortable in every way with wearing them! Love it!! Have fun and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
omg! thanks for reminding me about off fifth!! it’s available online in burgundy for $75!!!! i’ve been thinking about getting another color…
you should get the dress!!! i’m wearing a size 3 and would probably stick that since i like it oversized.
Crap, I knew about the Off Fifth store but not that they were online…really better if I didn’t know!
They have a burgundy version of the fantastic JP pencil skirt–I have never seen this color! Ok, TOMORROW I’ll start the hiatus for shopping-for-myself…

i know!!! i didn’t know they had online shopping either!!! love that color, and of course, i love that skirt…
another great place for shopping discounted james perse š
Ugh, I want to like the concept because it’s so practical/functional but it’s just not flattering. Unless you’re a supermodel, it shortens the legs to two little marshmallow stumps. I used to be a slave to comfort but I told myself for 2013 my goals are both form and function. I’m trying to avoid looks like this one that work for about 1% of the population. Thanks for being so daring with your outfits even when they’re not flattering – gives us a good idea about how the look works for the average person (before we go out and spend $150 on a pair of Nikes).
What is the deal with the pricing on their site? Last night that dress was $75, but now $125—and the skirt that was $65 is now $100?!? Maybe I need to clear my cookies and restart my browser…
i saw that!!! SO ANNOYING!! they saw that they were getting traffic to that page and raised the prices š
That makes me really mad when sites raise prices due to traffic! I know the airlines do it, too, which makes it really hard to find a flight that suits you at the right price. It makes me mad enough that I don’t want to shop with Saks Off 5th anymore!! š
i don’t know that they did that specifically – maybe they marked things up to get ready for black friday/etc…but it is annoying.
