Gerard Darel Bowling Plum bag (gifted by Forzieri for review)
“Now is all you have” necklace | secondhand from Moss Austin
“Now is all you have” is my new motto – I’ve never been really great at living in the moment (I worry a lot and over-analyze a lot) – but I’m starting to believe in the wisdom of the sentiment, and am working very hard to appreciate every moment and experience for what it is, not letting other experiences or thoughts get in the way. The necklace I’m wearing (and have worn in several outfits recently) is a great way to remind myself that I should focus on now; the back is engraved with “Now is all you have.” I have only to flip it around…
Embracing my new-found motto, I’m also mixing blue and black, which I don’t think I’ve EVER done before. I think I like it š I got this Inhabit cardigan a while ago after Margie sent me some pictures of her wearing hers. I’ve really enjoyed it the last few weeks, Inhabit is really good at thinking of all the details that make their pieces great.
The bag is new from Gerard Darel sent from Forzieri for me to review. I got it Thursday and have been carrying it since then; I’ll have a more thorough review on Wednesday. And maybe a video! I have to be honest, I almost thought of sending it back after my very first impression, but wanted to give it a chance, which is good, because after using it a few days, I’ve fallen in love. I have another Gerard Darel bag (36 hours, black), which I love, but don’t carry very much because it’s huge and slouchy – this one is also very slouchy, as you can see from the second picture below, but not as large. Gerard Darel’s bags are just slouchy – kind of like the Jerome Dreyfuss Billy bag (what is it with the French designers??). The leather is gorgeous, and soft, but without much structure when carried using the shoulder strap. But I’ve carried this bag mostly by hand, and when I’ve needed to, I carry it messenger style, and since it’s so light, I almost forget I’m wearing it <--a
good thing.
Happy Monday!! I hope you all have a great week š
Gretchen, the cardigan looks fabulous on you! And I love it with the black. Gorgeous!
I think blue and black look great together, and you look great in that outfit (and your size 30 jeans!)
Speaking of that, how is the weight loss program going?
Size 30!! Woo hoo!!!
Navy is YOUR color, Grechen. I think it lights up your whole face, hair, everything! And it’s actually very fashion forward with the black. Fantastic outfit and you couldn’t look happier!
i really love navy lately, i just don’t own much of it, or think to buy it. maybe now i will though…
thanks val š
it’s going very well, thank you! i will do an update again on monday – but so far so good! it’s not coming off as fast as i’d hoped, but that doesn’t matter as much as it did in the beginning…
thanks for enticing me to get it!!
There’s a white trim to the cardigan? I think that makes the navy/black combo work as it does. Also I love the geometry of your necklace against all the drape.
yes, along the bottom of the cardigan there’s white trim. it makes it easier for me to do the navy/black combo š
I actually adore this combo on you. Currently in a navy blue obsession of my own and am re-doing my bedroom in all navy. In my book, navy and black are the best of friends- although I also think brown and black look perfect together so what do I know?
i love brown and black together! and i like blue and black together too, i just didn’t think i could pull it off while maintaining my “effortless” chic look LOL – i feel like on me, it looks forced. i don’t know why….
Au contraire, black and blue says that you are so effortlessly chic that you do not even have to worry about matching– matching is for amateurs! š
You do look fantastic here, Grechen! Chic, slender, and most of all very ‘you’! Love it.
I’m a fan of black with navy, as long as the blue is bright enough to not read midnight/almost black, the way some denim can. I think you’ve done it perfectly here, and the white and tan keeps the entire look fresh and heading toward SPRING.
I adore your necklace – the pendant is cool on its own, and the message is so key for living a life of focus and gratefulness. Now I want one!
