As a blog reader, how often do you want to see new items featured in outfits? or do you want to see “older” items styled in different ways? do you expect to see a “new” outfit every time you visit a blog? I’m not referring to this blog specifically, just “blogs” you read generally. I’m just interested in what you like to see. What percentage of total outfits do you want to be made up of new items (that you can buy right now), as opposed to older items?
Generally when I visit a personal style blog with outfit posts, I like for at least one item in the outfit to be something I could (theoretically) buy right now if I like it. I also love the inspiration outfit posts can give, but I’m all about shopping, and if I see something I really love, I want to know where to get it. And I do try to provide as much of that information here as I can.
What do you think? Do you look mostly for inspiration in outfits? or do you want to duplicate it by buying the specific item?
I could go either way. If it is something I love, then yes, it is easier to be able to click the item and purchase it. At the same time, I read a lot for inspiration, so it doesn’t matter if pieces are new. I also really like to see older pieces reworked multiple times.
Like you, I think of my blog as a shopping blog more than a fashion blog. As such, I try to post links to the exact items I’m wearing or featuring, or at least something similar so someone can replicate the look. That’s what I look for in other blogs too — it drives me crazy when I see a fabulous item that’s obviously recent, but no links.
Honestly, it’s not that important to me to see current/available items on blogs. I read more for inspiration than anything. But a “shopping” blog (as opposed to a “style” blog) should probably have a disproportionate focus on currently available items.
I really love to see what other women are doing and how they put together looks with their favorite items. I tend to use blogs for inspiration (such as my longing for a black maxi skirt, and a “floaty” chiffon below-the-knee skirt in a peachy color–both indulged, btw!!). And I don’t mind at all if you use older pieces, since I’m mainly looking for fun new ways to wear my older stuff!
