This is what I wore on Friday actually – and Saturday too – before everything froze solid yesterday and today. No joke, it was 78 degrees on Saturday and today it is 15. Ah…Texas weather. Anyway, I didn’t wear a damn thing yesterday besides my house clothes, and it looks like today will be the same. Which is okay by me, because I’m sort of tired of my 10 things. Not tired of them, of course, but tired of wearing ONLY them – I’m ready to wear some other things now, thank you.
Speaking of other things, I ordered one of the new long-sleeve ryan tees from Everlane last week along with the scoop-neck seed stitch sweater. I really love them both (no surprise), but the ryan tee (in medium) is quite long on me, pretty much tunic length, so if I get another one, it’ll be a size small. I’ll definitely wear the one I got, but for a second one, I prefer shorter. And the seed stitch sweater is great. I ordered a medium in taupe and love it. It’s the perfect medium-weight sweater; I might actually need to get the raglan sleeve one in the charcoal color as well. For options, you know.
Have you tried the long-sleeve ryan tees yet? What did you think?
Today I’m going to be working on re-designing Grechen’s Closet a little bit (Grechen’s Codes is already done, yay!), so I apologize if you have any issues with the site. I welcome any feedback you have on it also – my goal is to make it easier to read on mobile devices, as well as cleaner and a bit more “organized” by making the layout more of a magazine style from now on.
Happy Monday!!
You have my full support if you want to stop the challenge early. 😉 You have shown that you can definitely do this for traveling; in terms of daily wardrobe minimization / prioritization I think the 333 project is more useful, IMHO.
Speaking of minimalism, Need Supply has some beautiful new pieces in their house line—check out the Rodin shirt, Dusk top, Hutton pants, and the Campbell skirt. They even have a pair of Jeffrey Campbell mules that are making me eat my words on the mule trend.

i’m loving need supply lately – have you tried any of their private label stuff? love the campbell skirt, but i seriously doubt i could pull off a long white skirt…
what is the 333 project?
i may stop the challenge early, i absolutely know that i can do it for traveling now, and i’m not afraid to re-wear pieces, as i often have been. thanks for your support in ending early 😉
It’s a wardrobe challenge based on the idea that you select 33 items for 3 months. Again, you can be flexible with how you set it up for yourself, but I think it’s a good guideline for doing a wardrobe cleanout / minimization / prioritization project if you want to do it.

I’m trying to accept the idea that just because I have 1 of something and I love it, it doesn’t mean I need to run out and get 3 more duplicates or similar items. I’d really like to get to the idea that I buy 5 or 6 new pieces a season, and they’re pieces that I really want and will use. I just bought a Vince dress that I spent probably twice as much on than I normally would (but still got on discount) with the idea that it can become a wardrobe workhorse, and I’ll get more use out of it than 2 or 3 cheaper dresses that are “eh.” We’ll see how this experiment goes.
I’m totally ok with you ending the challenge early! I have zero doubt that you’re capable of combining clothing in creative ways for as long as you need.
I do love this combo, tho. I feel like it’s “classic Grechen.” And it’s made me think about what I need vs. what I want, plus, how my wardrobe reflects my personality….which leads me to a major wardrobe clean-out in my near future. I’ll let you know how it goes!
I like the idea of a small capusle wardrobe and can pull it off when I travel but it is hard in real life. Like Jen I usually buy multiples of the things I love. But I am working towards a smaller, more concise wardrobe.
oh! i love this idea. i will definitely try this.
and that is my BIGGEST challenge: as soon as i get something i love, i want to buy multiples. which i really never end up needing anyway…
yes – i think i can do well traveling with fewer items now, after this “experiment” – but it’s not easy at home for sure.
i think i’ll try the 333 challenge next, but still…that seems quite daunting too! maybe for summer, when it’s hot and i don’t want to wear much anyway!
ah, thank you for your encouragement, val 🙂
oh…we should all do wardrobe cleanouts and have a swap – that would be interesting, wouldn’t it???
I just received one of the long sleeve Ryan tees in the mail today, but I’m going to return it. It looks horrible on me! The dropped shoulders are not dropping enough, just landing at an awkward place off my shoulders and poufing up slightly at the seam. It makes it look like the shirt is just too big for me, and not in a good way. I also got a short sleeve Ryan in white, and I like the drape on it, but it’s so sheer that I’ll have to wear a tank top underneath most of the time.
33 items for 3 months? I don’t know. I think that sounds really hard.
That would certainly be impetus for the closet purge! (P.s. I love the new comment format!)
i got another comment the other day about the ryan tank being very sheer – which is strange because i don’t think mine are at all. they can’t be different…maybe i just have more “tolerance” for sheerness???
love this look – it’s pretty much the chic super easy outfit for everyday life and travel!
