What I’m Wearing:
James Perse pants
White James Perse vintage tee
James Perse hooded jacket
Repetto BB flats
Jas M.B. bag
Actually…this isn’t what I REALLY wore today. I really meant to wear it, but about 30 minutes before I was supposed to leave to meet my friend Indiana for lunch, my Gilt & Inhabit NY orders arrived and I had to try them on and ended up wearing my new Inhabit NY sweater & jeans instead. I’ll show you that outfit tomorrow π
And anyway, I’m not so sure I’ll be keeping these pants. I really like them, and I wanted them to replace the H&M sweatpants I bought recently that are just too short now (I tried to keep them out of the dryer…but that didn’t last very long), so I put them in my cart at JP to think about. And – this is a good trick James Perse – after I forgot about them, I got a note from my “shopping cart” at JP that they would offer me free overnight shipping if I’d checkout within 24 hours. Well, okay, if you insist. They arrived today, and they’re thinner than I thought they’d be, but I love the fit, and comfort. They’re not too tight, or too loose…and I think they’ll be a good, more “interesting” sweatpant alternative. But I’m still not 100% convinced. So I haven’t worn them out yet.
What do you think?
I think I might like them better with a more substantial shoe. I think they also might go well with a top that contrasts (in style, not color) more with the pants, if that makes sense. Maybe a more structured blouse or button-down? (I I do like them, and I imagine if they’re made out of the same yumminess that all JP is, they must be really hard to take off!)
That said, I must now ask for your guidance. I tried on (and left behind) a pair of pants at the aforementioned Rachel Pally sale. It continues next weekend, so I’m thinking about going back for them, but they look similar to this. How do you feel about this style on our body type? They were ridiculously soft and comfortable but I worry about stumpiness.
you’re right about styling the JP pants – i’ll work on some other combos…
i love the RP’s and no, i don’t think they’re the most flattering style for us, but the comfort factor makes up for it i think. they’re not awful. i mean for the right price…
i’ve wanted a pair of those, ever since i had (and took back, thank goodness LOL) the gauchos…remember those?? they were soft…..
My sister comes on Friday so I’m hoping to go back with her. If they’re still there and under $100 (I think they were…), I’ll get them. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know what happens.
And I will anxiously await the pants in other incarnations. I thought there might be some good pics of Jenna Lyons wearing them but I can only find her in sequined sweatpants, and, while I love you, I draw the line at sequined sweatpants.
I keep seeing the “sweatpant” styled in the fashion mags. But I don’t think it would work for me. I’m too old and pretty classic, in reality. The fantasy me would wear them in a hearbeat! lol…
i wonder if they’re me also…i mean, i’m not sure i can pull off the edgy/avant garde sweatpant look…more like just the basic boring sweatpant look LOL
