Han Starnes box top | size s/m, New with tags, $75 at SLOWRE (made in the US)
My office closet is a treasure trove of beautiful pre-loved goodies for SLOWRE, and I have to admit, I’ve thought once or twice about purchasing a few items myself (Ahem, these Sevilla Smith shoes*), but then I wouldn’t have any inventory, would I?? Β When this Han Starnes top arrived for consignment the other day, I fell in love immediately: it’s a wonderful lightweight cotton, simple box style, with a flattering neckline, and great length for a summer top.
And since it fits me, I thought I’d model it (something I’ll try to do more often for consignment items on SLOWRE) for you, just in case anyone’s interested π

*speaking of Sevilla Smith, did you see the new Elizabeth Suzann shoes launched this morning?? I had a pair of the graphite mules in my cart, but decided not to buy them. I don’t know why.
**apropos to nothing, I’m getting my haircut today!!! so excited !!!!!!
Love the top but I’m on a shopping fast. Had the shoes in my cart as well but… shopping fast. And I don’t need them. Wore my Sevilla Smith shoes yesterday and wondered where I’m going to take them when I eventually need the rubber sole pads replaced.
Which shoes do you have? They’re so appealing….
Similar to the ones ES had last year but I bought themoff Etsy in black.

those are so beautiful..
I had a pair of ES mules in my cart this morning too…however, I didn’t hit the buy button. As much as I love the concept and quality, I know that style is not flattering on me and doesn’t pair that well with my style. Ruminating on getting a ES outfit but since I’m size 4 and don’t look that great in boxy clothes, I’m hesitant. Any suggestions which pieces might be good for a slender gal without looking overwhelmed by fabric? Was thinking Georgia tunic and slim pant for starters. Thoughts?
Oh, i can write more on this later, but this would be a great question to put in the forums if you’re interested π
there’s an elizabeth suzann topic!! http://grechenscloset.com/forums/
just off the top of my head, i think the clyde work pants would work nicely for you, i reviewed them here
I’d recommend the Cecilia pants and if you’re not petite in stature the Elise dress. I love the Cecilia pants. I had great hope for the Elise dress once it was offered in the shorter size but it was still too long for me (I’m 5’3″). Weirdly, the shorter length pants are too short. The regular length is best for me (and I’m not particularly long legged).
I was unconvinced of the boxy, flowy shapes but they have grown on me!
Thanks for your reply, Grechen….I just signed up for the forum and posted your suggested question. I saw your review of the Clyde work pants but I cannot wear anything with pockets that hit my saddlebag thigh area. I could relate to your commentary! One can be slender yet still have disproportionate thighs. π
Thank you, Laurie….I will check out the Cecilia pant. I’m 5’5″ and am long-legged, so it helps to know that the regular length would be an appropriate choice for me. I will also check out the Elise dress. I’m a big fan of dresses…often wearing a maxi or using a midi as a tunic. I hear you about how the boxy flowy shapes can grown on you. Moving in the direction of giving it a try. Comfort and ease are great motivators.
Hi Grechen, I just wanted to let you know that Slowre is a bit hard to find from your website. There doesn’t seem to be a prominent link on the front page of Grechen’s Closet? I came here looking for your consignment site recently, and couldn’t remember what it was called, so struggled for a while before I found this post with a lonk. I just figured if I had trouble, others possibly were as well and it might be worth letting you know. Alternatively, maybe my add blocker is blocking a link? However, I thought there might be a menu tab, or button link.
Best wishes, love your blog
Meg
thanks for letting me know meg! your ad-blocker was blocking the ad i had in the sidebar, i moved it so you should see a graphic under the search form in the side now, and i’ll also add a link in one of the navigation bars to make it easier to find π
