1969 Ankle Zip Legging Jeans | $69.95
Nautical Shift Dress | $59.95
I went shopping today because I have the disease that whenever I travel, I have to buy at least one new item of clothing. It’s generally THE PERFECT thing for my trip and something that I don’t have ANYTHING close to in my wardrobe already; something I REALLY NEED, in other words. I exaggerate, but do you do that sometimes also? Shop before a trip? For this one, I feel like my wardrobe is really lacking because I don’t have jeans I really love that I can wear with flats. And I’m pretty sure I’m just going to be wearing my CdG X Converse sneakers the whole time we’re there. Except for our anniversary dinner π
So I hit up Nordstrom, J Crew and the Gap this afternoon. I didn’t leave with anything, but if I could have, I would have bought the two items above from the Gap. That dress is PERFECT. And so are the leggings/jeans. Which is something I never say about Gap clothing. I have always had a hard time with the fit of things there, but I was incredibly impressed by the fit of both of these items. The sleeves on the dress ended just at my elbow and the length was just right above my knees. And I didn’t really mind seeing my knees! The dress is really heavy material though; I couldn’t wear it now, here in Texas, but for Fall, it would be great. I loved it, but then again, I would probably talk myself out of wearing it every time I put it on because it’s so far out of my comfort zone. Stripes! Short! Whoa!
The jeans were also great, but they’re more like pants in my opinion; very dark and clean looking. And I love the zippers at the bottom π reminds me of my Guess jeans I had in the 80’s. Don’t say you don’t remember! Except those were acid wash I think. Anyway, the 31R fit me very well without even much gap in the waist. The length was perfect, and they were pretty comfortable in general. But still, I can’t pay full-price for anything at the Gap so I didn’t get them either, but I will when they have a giant % off code or sale day.
At Nordstrom, I tried on the Paige Skyline Skinny jeans in Black Ink and those were also perfect. Twice the price as the Gap jeans, but would be more classic in my opinion. And I know I can get them on sale or with a code sometime, so I passed on those too. The Anniversary sale was a bust for me, nothing interesting…
Then I went to J Crew because I wanted to try on these pants I found indirectly via Sharon today and they didn’t have them in the store. They’d probably look terrible on me anyway. But don’t they just look so easy and comfortable??
That’s it, I didn’t buy anything, but now I know what I want to spend my money on when it does come rolling in π
What about you? what have you bought lately?
I love the dress (I have an a-line, short-sleeve version from GAP and I have worn it out here in Montauk on cooler days. It is heavy weight cotton) and the jeans. I think I’m too old for zippered ankles, tho. But I love the cut. I’ve had trouble with fit, too, but maybe it’s time for me to try them out again. I finally caved and bought the T by Alexander Wang dress in navy from The Outnet and I LOVE it. You and Sydney are absolutely right! I didn’t understand how it could be so good, but the material is soft and wonderful, and there is just something about the cut around the neck/shoulders that makes it look very feminine and flattering. Thanks for the tip! (also, I just bought a Minnie Rose shaker knit sweater in taupe for beachy cool nights, an Autumn Cashmere cotton dolman sleeve striped sweater from bluefly.com, an INHABIT white tank for only $8 π and a linen shirt dress type of thingy from J Jill for only $29. But I love it!). I’ve been on a binge!! And yes, I always have to find something new before I go somewhere, not to mention what I buy when I’m there!
omg, that inhabit tank sale is insane!!! i wish i could get some.
