In the pictures: Love Shop silk scarf, Gap jeans (that are still too long, even when I’m wearing platforms), James Perse casual u-neck, Tory Burch cardigan, Alexander Wang Donna hobo. (ugh, I’m having such a hard time getting good pictures lately. Our place is so small, so there’s not a lot of room to spread out to get a good angle. So, I apologize for the not-so-great quality, and the mirror picture. At least in the mirror picture you can see my pretty nail polish!!!)
I love scarves. Not short, twilly-type scarves, but long wool or cashmere scarves that can double as wraps when I’m freezing. I wear a Virginia Johnson shawl/scarf or a long, wide cashmere scarf all winter, and then I put them all away until it gets cold again. I also love the character a scarf can add to any outfit; throw one on with a t-shirt, jeans and blazer, and you’re the epitome of effortless chic.
That said…I’ve never really gotten the scarves worn around the neck with tank tops or short sleeve shirts and flip flops trend. I don’t see this in real-life mind you, only in pictures of “celebrity” fashion. So, I was kind of wary to try a silk scarf – I mean, I didn’t think it would be warm enough for cold weather, and why would I need a scarf for warm weather??
But now that I have it, I DO know that a silk scarf is plenty warm enough for cold weather. Well, not in 30 degree F weather, but it definitely works in 50-60 degree weather. I’ve not had this scarf long enough yet, but I’m totally going to keep this one in my bag to wear whenever I’m in the air conditioning – I freeze in air conditioning…I freeze pretty much anywhere. It’s lighter and doesn’t take up as much room as my Virginia Johnson shawl – and since that one’s wool, it’s a tad overkill for a lot of situations during Summer.
So, I think I’m a convert to all-season scarf-wearing. I love the added color it gave my outfit today, and I can’t help but feel a little more chic when I’m wearing it. The tassels are spaced out so they’re not too overcrowded and “drapery-looking” and the designs and colors are so beautiful – on all of the Love Shop scarves.
If you haven’t done so already, be sure to enter to win a Love Shop scarf similar to the one I’m wearing (contest ends on Monday, March 30). And check out the other designs and colors at The Trend Boutique, where you can save 20% on orders over $100 with code “grechen20.”
