I’ve become obsessed with ankle boots/booties recently – I’d love to find a versatile pair to wear with jeans, and/or possibly leggings this Fall/Winter. The first pair of Opening Ceremony booties are the ones that make my heart skip a beat, but during long hours of Internet searching, I’ve found LOTS of pairs I’d love to have. And now, I think I’m definitely going to get the docs – they’re pretty awesome and would be so fun to play with…(does anyone remember how doc martens fit? I haven’t had a pair in years…)

I could go on forever…but I think you get the idea! Any ideas on what you think would work for me? Remember, I have thick ankles & calves, ankle boots are definitely not ideal for me, but I’d really like to try…
I like all of your picks, but I have to vote for the Rachel Comey boots. I have 7 pairs of her shoes including 2 boots just like these (minus the tassel), and I am considering buying a navy pair. They are cool but still classic, and most importantly, very comfortable. The heel and the downward slant of the boot opening make this pair flattering for all.
nicole, i LOVE the rachel comey boots – also these at le train bleu: http://letrainbleu.com/smugglerbooties.aspx i get heart palpitations when i look at those…and i know they’re worth it, i just don’t have the $$ to spend on them right now. it just sucks that by the time they go on sale, they’ll be out of my size…
you are my idol w/all your rachel comey ๐ do you feel like they fit true to size (for when i can buy a pair finally?)
thanks!!
Considering I read your blogs daily for new inspiration & great discount codes, I’m quite flattered by your compliment. I was tempted by those booties when you posted the discount code for Le Train Bleu. I also have not had much luck finding my size on sale. I even missed out on this pair after contemplating buying them for a week -http://kickpleat.com/GroupPage.aspx?groupid=10&pageTitle=-5835 (sorry, I don’t know how to add the link!) Rachel Comey tends to run a size too big. I always wear 7.5 in her boots, but I wear an 8 in the Derby oxfords and Sing Sing wedges. I wear an 8.5 in Tory Burch flats if that helps.
hmm…i normally wear an 8 in everything, even my TB revas are an 8, do you think i should look for a 7.5 in the boots?
totokaelo ended up with some rachel comey shoes ( i was very close to getting the dekalb clogs – i think those are the ones) on sale in my size…but i didn’t get them…it’s very strange, but i have a hard time buying on sale – i second guess my purchases all the time. mostly because when i give stuff away, it always ends up being the stuff i bought on sale that i never wear….
I think the 7.5 probably would work for you. I just checked my Revas to be sure, and I have a 7.5 & an 8.5 which is odd, but one pair is much older. I wear 8-8.5 in closed -toe shoes & boots, but 7.5 in sandals or open- toe shoes. I don’t know specifically about the DeKalb, but the Marcy and the Robert Crochet clogs, which look very similar to the DeKalb, did not fit me well in any size. A salesperson told me that seemed to be true for most people (a rare misstep for Rachel Comey shoes). I suspect your instinct was correct. I’m always suspicious when an item doesn’t sell as quickly as usual, and I usually do regret it when I buy something on sale impulsively. I’ve often heard, “if you wouldn’t consider buying it at full price, don’t buy it on sale,” but I love the idea of getting a bargain on anything! Anyways, good luck finding the right pair, and I hope that I did not confuse you too much regarding sizing.
thank you!! that’s another problem buying on sale, many times it’s final, and i’d be afraid the shoes wouldn’t fit. and i ALWAYS say that about not buying on sale what you wouldn’t already buy at full price – that’s the only way you get value out of anything in my opinion – i’ve been burned so many times just buying because the price was great – even though i may not have been in love with the item.
i really appreciate your help!! hopefully i’ll get my hands on a pair of rachel comey shoes soon…
Not usually a fan, but her collection for fall is just so good that I need to vote for the Tory Burch boots. Perfect ankle height, great heel, great buckle. Biker, but still very wearable for the rest of us car driving, fashion lovers – how else would I get all my shopping bags home! Maybe a side car? Hmmm….
those are also one of my favorite pairs! i love that the heel isn’t too high, and the buckle gives just the right amount of edge. i’d really love to have a hardcore pair of biker boots though, flat, with lots of buckles ๐
I vote for the ones by Rag and Bone. They have a little room in the ankles to “play with.” Just might be pretty flattering–also, the heel isn’t too high. Comfy looking!
i love the rachel comey and rag & bone booties! and if i recall correctly, DMs tend to run a bit big, no?
.-= miss sophie´s last blog ..fashion’s night out =-.
according to net-a-porter, these run big, so i went ahead and ordered a size down. i hope they work!!!! i do love the rachel comey & rag & bone booties, but they’re so expensive for something i’m not sure i’ll wear all the time yet…
