Happy Monday!!
James Perse launched their summer collection over the weekend, AND they’re offering us a free shipping code (no minimum order!!) for a week: GRECHENMAR17 (coupon is good ONE TIME PER CUSTOMER ONLY and in the US). As you know, I’m usually quite smitten with nearly everything at James Perse; it fits both my lifestyle and my body perfectly. This season is the season for dresses, and I’m interested in several:
Recycled knit dress | $195
Brushed cotton polo dress | $195 (LOVE THIS ONE!!!! – but I worry about the opening being too deep/open)
Skinny tank dress | $225 (with an open-back, if you love the v-neck better)
Twist back dress | $245 (look at the back – so easy)
Linen utility shirt dress | $225 (still looking for a great linen shirt dress – and this one comes with a slip now)
Of course, all the dresses come in other “colors” – like white, taupe, or gray LOL. But if you are into color, there are a couple of very pretty ones for tops & t-shirts this season:
Cotton linen relaxed tee | $95
Vintage raglan short sleeve top | $125
And if I was going to wear white pants, I’d wear these:
Slouchy khaki pants | $225
And of course, I highly highly highly recommend the mini canvas tote for an super-easy summer tote, and I also love the filmore tote for something a little bigger. Incidentally, one of the reasons I love these totes, in spite of their higher prices is that they don’t use ANY LEATHER AT ALL. Many totes use leather handles, have leather bottoms, or even use faux leather, but I don’t find that necessary, and honestly, pretty annoying when I’m trying not to buy a lot of new leather.
Mini canvas tote | $195
Filmore everyday tote | $495
What do you think? Anything appealing to you for summer?
*edited to add: I ordered the polo dress and twist back dress, both in black, both in size 2 to try. I only intend to keep one of them 🙂 I hope they’ll get here before the free shipping code expires so I can do a quick review for you!
This is not a sponsored post, and James Perse did not pay me for this feature. I do work with the brand as an affiliate, which means whenever you purchase something, I get a percentage as commission.
I just received the skinny tank dress in charcoal (?) from Net-a-Porter. I know it’s part of the summer collection, but I see myself using it as more of a layering piece for spring and fall. I’m looking forward to wearing it under a bulky cardigan later this week!!
I got the size 1, even though I feel like more of a “medium” person than a small… it’s kind of hard to pull on over my linebacker shoulders, but once the dress is on it fits really well. The rouching really does its job!!
yes!! i too love the “skinny” dresses under big cardigans in cool (but not cold) weather.
love that ruching!!!
I am addicted to tote bags, and would love to get more (I have a sail bag tote that’s huge and would love a smaller version for summer) I just don’t want to spend that much money for canvas. The recent Travel & Leisure featured these duffels made from recycled bottles – I love the concept. But I want in a tote!! https://hamiltonperkins.com/collections/bags (T&L also featured some “plant cashmere” wraps – aka cotton – I thought that was a weird marketing gimmick, though the wraps look lovely http://zinkeveryday.com/wraps/ )
I know Lands End totes aren’t made in the US any more…Are Bean’s?
I love the polo dress ( go for it! It’s sexy!) but I really, really love the twist back dress since it’s not form fitting. It would be the perfect summer dress. I could see getting TONS of wear out of it. And HURRAY for JP adding a size 5 in a few of their classic pieces!
How serendipitous! I was just on the James Perse website ogling the dresses when I thought, I wonder whether Grechen has anything to say about any of these lovelies. I was so happy to see that you had a feature on them today. I’m interested in knowing whether you will buy any of these – I have my eye on the polo dress (and I picture myself wearing it with that Eileen Fisher duster you have recently featured). I’d love to see these dresses on some women with more curves (other than Kim Kardashian), to see how they fit.
haha!! there’s a picture of kim kardashian on the belted ruched dress i had that i just can’t get out of my head LOL –
i’m thinking of getting the polo dress and/or the twist back dress – both in size 2 and both in black 😉
We could start a “Who wore it better?” meme! 😉
Thank you for the code, my enabling friend! I got the mini in asphalt (crossing fingers for a darker gray) and black flip flops. It pains me greatly to spend that much on canvas, grosgrain, and EVA but so be it – they are staples I’ll wear into the ground.
You know I was all pissy about the mini not coming in black or charcoal – I reached out to JP to see if they had plans to add these colors. The chat girl didn’t know but said she would investigate and email me – crickets – hence my giving up & ordering the asphalt.
I also have a bit of a tote obsession like one of the above posters. I recently got a Filson tote in black and it’s not a bad way to scratch an itch for one of the larger JP ones. It’s really nice quality, and is more office appropriate than the JP canvas. Thinking of a LL Bean hunter tote next, olive for sure and maybe camo? At that price – who cares. ?
Lastly – loooove the slouchy chinos – excellent pick.
Thank you for the code. Paying for shipping is always painful 😉 Can you comment on any of the pullover type sweaters over at JP, especially for us short folk? BTW I purchased the small canvas tote after seeing it on you and have been using it daily ever since!
here’s one of the things i love about JP – that the pieces seem to be MADE for us short ladies. That’s why i love the casual t-shirts so much: they’re not too long, they’re just the right length on me, and that’s the same for any pullover type tops i have by JP (but i don’t have many) – i have sweatshirts and one turtleneck sweater and they are great on me, always the “right” length if that makes sense.
i can’t comment specifically on any current sweaters – which ones are you looking at? But if they have them in stock at my store, i could go and try them on , you know, for research 😉
