Woot!! The Inhabit NY Fall sample sale is ON…now until 11/6, “classic” cashmere and cotton items are marked down 70% at Inhabit NY. Here are my favorites:
Short sleeve cashmere cardigan: $80
Cotton v-neck: $50
Classic cashmere cardigan: $80
All sales are final on this page, so be sure you know what you’re getting. I find that Inhabit cashmere and cotton both run true to size (I always take a L), but if you have any questions at all, please leave a comment!
**edited: I bought the “classic” cashmere cardigan in chain and the cotton v-neck in red clay…what did you buy??
the prices at inhabit always give me a small heart attack, and i can never seem to get their pieces when they go on major sale. these look so tempting!
but i got myself a sweater shaver last week, and had such a great time salvaging a ton of my old, pilling sweaters back to brand new shape 😀

(i need to get one of those shavers LOL)
yeah, the retail prices on inhabit are INSANE. i always wait for the sample sales, but it’s a shame that their more unique pieces never end up there…but i do love the classic cashmere & cotton pieces, i cannot resist getting some whenever they have a sale. i’m addicted 🙂
omg grechen i don’t know how my wardrobe functioned pre-sweater shaver! it’s seriously the best thing ever. i’m totally back in love with all my old sweaters again 🙂

Be really careful with the electronic sweater shavers, tho. I’ve put a hole in mine before! (*&^*^%$) I think the “manual” ones are better/safer.
do you guys have a recommended sweater shaver LOL? anything i should look for?
I like the one by the people that make all of the “Hollywood” products. It looks like a “nit comb”, honestly. But it’s gentle on cashmere and softer fabrics.
i paid a little more for mine – it’s the izumi sweater shaver made in japan…lol i know i know, a fancy japanese sweater shaver, you ask? well i AM going to use it on my nice cashmere sweaters, so i did a little amazon research and this one came up as the best one beating out the cheap $13 version. it has three settings so you can adjust the degree of ‘pillage’ (HA! couldn’t resist!) you want to use…
as for not getting holes in your sweaters – various people hve recommended that you drape your sweaters over a soft curved surface (ie: a pillow) to smooth out any wrinkles before happily shaving away.
hope this helps!

Grechen, do you know what color “Seal” is? I’m having a hard time reading it online – looks like maybe a maroon-y/brown color? Just wondering if you have any real life experience with this color.
Thanks!
hi jennipher – i don’t have any experience with seal, but what helps imo, is to google “inhabit cashmere” and then the color and it will bring up places that sell it online, other places sometimes have better pictures of the colors than inhabit does…here’s what i found: http://www.bluefly.com/Inhabit-seal-cashmere-seamed-v-neck-sweater/cat840278/301296703/detail.fly?referer=ca_froogle&cm_mmc=ca_froogle-_-na-_-mens_sweaters-_-301296703&mr:trackingCode=B0B113D7-E581-DE11-B7F3-0019B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA
looks like seal is a brown brown – not so much maroon…
thank you!
ohhh thanks for the head’s up . . . now I really want the short sleeve cashmere cardigan in charcoal . . . hmmmm dilemmas dilemmas.
by the way I realized that even if you end up with a sweater that you don’t exactly like from the sample sales you can usually sell it on eBay for the same price (I did that last summer and people in Austalia who are experiencing winter at that moment bought my sweaters happily).
oh, nice! now i’m thinking i need to get that short sleeve cardigan…what do you think? i had it in my cart, then i took it out. ugh.
I think you should get it!! it’s difficult to come across nice short sleeved cashmere cardigan (because the cut tends to be awkward) and they would go great with the james perse tops and skirts. they really know how to do drape so it would be great to combine with our beloved JP items!
ah…you’re such an enabler 🙂 i sold a bag today, so i think i might be able to do it!!
