Just a quick note to introduce you to a “new” sustainable independent designer, Eenvoud. I’ve been following Eenvoud for a while now, and they’ve just launched fall 2016 with a 50% off pre-sale. They keep the site stocked with “classic” styles and favorites (like that cupro mesh insert dress above, which I really love), but launch a few new items each season (similar to Elizabeth Suzann and Emerson Fry), to keep things interesting and fresh
Eenvoud is a small company based in NYC whose goal it is
… to create clothing that will live with you for years – that becomes a part of your story.
Don’t you just love that??
They also favor non-toxic, less water-dependent fabrics, as well as natural and recycled materials. What I also appreciate is that they link to their fabric suppliers, and more details about where their fabric comes from. Incidentally, Eenvoud uses peace silk (silk which is harvested after the worm leaves the cocoon, allowing it to live a full lifecycle) in their hemp/silk blends, something which I’ll go into more detail about later.*
Please check out Eenvoud and let me know what you think! And yes, I love that button back top in RED. I probably wouldn’t wear it, but I love the look/style – it would be a great colorful addition to a work wardrobe.
*I addressed some comments on my recent Elizabeth Suzann post on peace silk and am preparing a longer post about it, along with other animal-derived materials used in clothing.
Hi, new here so hope you don’t mind me commenting. I love Eenvoud and made my first purchase, the navy cupro sleeves top, last year during its kickstarter campaign. It was really exciting being a part of an upstart. The top truly is a great classic piece that I will keep/ wear for a long time. I wholeheartedly support the philosophy and the brand. So, now I’m trying to decide between the red button back top and the double pocket pants. I’ve found that the pieces I take the time to invest in, like a pair of denim pants I purchased through a little shop on Etsy called Trapper Jane, are the ones I keep in regular rotation for many years. Thank you being there to keep us all informed about all the fabulous, socially and environmentally conscious, indie designers among us.
Yes yes yes! The dress is beautiful. AND they provide radical transparency in showing who their fabric suppliers are? This is phenomenal – thank you so much for sharing!
I love that dress (although the low cut of the mesh kind of worries me)! And it’s the first time I’m hearing about cupro fabric. I’m passionate about natural fabrics and I need to research this one more. From the description on their website, it sounds very good.
i’ve seen things here and there with cupro – it’s similar to tencel in my opinion; drapey, and opaque, soft and comfortable to wear. sort of “natural” although i’m not sure most would consider it that – it is a very good alternative to silk –
**edited to add – i have an objects without meaning button front top that’s made from cupro, it’s really nice and drapey, slightly heavier than silk. i forgot i had it actually, because i don’t wear it very often, sadly, it’s just a style i don’t reach for.
you’d definitely have to wear a “cute” bra with the dress, or a tube top or something, because, yes, the mesh comes down quite low. i like that, generally, because it’s cooler, but it does make it slightly more difficult to wear…
YES. this is radical transparency, for sure!
hi anne! of course, i love that you’re commenting!! and thank you for sharing your experience with us.
i read an interesting article a while ago where a guy pledged to not pay LESS than $100 for any item of clothing, and while i don’t necessarily think that’s terribly realistic, it does make you really think about EACH piece you buy if it “has” to be more than $100 – which theoretically would make it more valuable to you; something we should all aspire to.
so i think your experience speaks to that – the more we think and invest in our clothing, the fewer pieces we acquire, and the more we wear and cherish them.
I love the mission and the transparency! Thanks for sharing another great brand with us. I really like the double pocket pants but am worried that the pockets might flare out too much. What do you think?
Thank you for the lovely post, Gretchen!
i love those pants – and i think the pockets look like they’re cut lower on the hips, which means they shouldn’t flare out as much. from what i can see anyway – i know that if a pocket hits RIGHT exactly at my hips, it’s going to flare out and stay open, but these look like they’re cut more to the front of the leg and a little lower and won’t do that.
i’d contact jesse from eenvoud about it though, if you want to know more details 🙂 she commented right below yours!
Hi Jesse– Have you seen the pants? My legs are not as long as the models so I was a little worried about the double pockets making me look hippy. What do you think? Thanks so much, Beth
Hi Beth! From my experience wearing these and from seeing others wear them, the pockets do not flare out at all. I know what you’re talking about (its the worst!), but that typically occurs with a side seam pocket and as Gretchen said above, when the pocket is sitting right on the widest part of your hip. These pockets curve down the front side of the leg and are longer than normal. I hope that helps! Please feel free to ask me any other questions at [email protected] :).
Hi Lori! Jesse from Eenvoud here. Cupro feels like washed silk, but breathes like cotton. It will keep you cool in the summer, you can sweat in it, machine wash it and it will keep you warm in the winter – just like cotton. Its a miracle fabric if you ask me.
In terms of The Sleeveless Dress with Mesh, the dress is cut not to expose your bra except for the portion under your armpit. This hasn’t been an issue for me at all as a nude bra barely shows through the mesh and your arm typically covers this part anyways. Unless you’re dancing, but then it doesn’t matter anyways :).

Jesse– Thank you so much! Very much appreciated. I am going to order them right now. I am very excited to support a sustainable clothing manufacturer. Beth
You’re so welcome. Thank you for your support!
Peace Silk.
I just love those two words together, and of course the meaning behind them.
I learned something new today – thank you!
Just to weigh in – I have the Eenvoud sleeveless mesh top in navy and I LOVE it. I’ve worn it with both a nude bra and a navy one. Both work well. Also, it washes beautifully. I put it in a lingerie bag in the machine and lay it flat to dry.
oh, wonderful! thanks for sharing!
i love that a couple of you guys already know the brand and can share your experiences.
Just ordered the double pocket pants in black! I’ve been looking for wider-cut, cropped black cotton pants for some time now so hoping this will fill that hole. Quite excited to learn of this new brand, especially as some of my wardrobe favourites are brands you introduced me to (James Perse, Emerson Fry..)
