Wearing/Buying
Yes, I wore the Elizabeth Suzann Patti shell a couple times this week – here, and then again, the next day (above). It layers beautifully. And so far, no snags. I’m still incredibly pleased with it, and recommend it highly if it might fill a hole in your wardrobe. This look above BTW was just after the first wash.
I finally ordered the Lo & Sons Hanover backpack and AllBirds wool runners this week. My backpack arrived yesterday and my AllBirds should arrive next week. Upon my recommendation, my sister already ordered and received her AllBirds and she loves them, so I can’t wait!
Some sales of note:
Lo & Sons – up to 30% off sale, which it seems to me includes almost everything, including the recycled poly Hanover backpack I JUST BOUGHT. I did get it for 15% off (new customer code), so no big difference in price. I haven’t used it yet, but I unpacked it yesterday and tried it on, played with it, etc., and find it to be very good. It’s not fancy, but it looks to be very practical and useful for traveling, and for using at my destination. I’ll know more about how it holds up after my next trip to Denver early next month…
Freda Salvador Friends & Family sale: 25% off with code INTHEFAMILY – they have some beautiful shoes right now!!!
Reading/Watching
Not much lately…although I did start listening to the Secular Buddhism podcast upon the recommendation of Michele recently. Love what I’ve heard so far. I also LOVE the Jesse Kamm ranger pants on her!!
Doing
Since I didn’t do a follow-up post last week, I didn’t tell you I was in an accident a week before that. No one was hurt, and it was slightly more my fault than the other person’s, although I’m convinced if she had been paying attention, she wouldn’t have hit me (long story). Anyway, my car was totalled, and everything was just finalized earlier this week. I REALLY REALLY REALLY loved my car 🙁
But we are also trying hard to decrease our monthly expenses, so we searched for something more affordable, but we also wanted one of us to have a slightly larger car (my husband has a small Infiniti), so I ended up with a Mazda CX-5. I like it a lot so far – I’ve only had it one night – and am just happy to be out of the rental. Another big change after so many others…
Another change coming up? my 45th birthday on November 2!! Phew.
What are you doing this weekend? Any big news?
Love the layered look! I’ve got a raw silk Georgia T layered over a long-sleeved T today (I wondered if it was 1993 when I got dressed this morning).
So sorry about your car and I’m glad you’re okay. Mine was totaled this year when a tree limb fell on it. While my husband was out of the country and I was attending a memorial service. I can laugh about it now. I ended up with a 2016 Nissan Leaf and I love it!
Changes? I saw a new dentist today.
ugh. i need dental work, and now we have dental insurance and my dentist doesn’t take it, so i have to maybe find a new one…
i love the nissan leaf, or the tesla, let’s be honest 😉 – but my car is usually the one we take when we drive to atlanta or whatever, and that wouldn’t work so well, or make me nervous anyway!
so funny that layering tees like that always brings up the 90’s – it certainly was a decade of memorable fashion!! honestly, i don’t remember that i layered a lot then, but i don’t remember much of what i wore then either.
Glad you’re ok!!! Our last rental was a Mazda CX-5 – I liked it more than I thought. I am not an SUV person, except that I sort of am because I got a Subaru Outback last December and it’s huge. No longer a wagon (like my older Subarus) it’s pretty much an SUV.
Anyhoo….I do like the layered look on you. I cannot imagine I would look good in that shell but you look so good in it!
Those no. 6 clogs look comfortable and lovely. I’ve never tried that sole. How does it compare to other no. 6 clogs?
Changes! Me too!
1) Closing on a HOUSE in ten days. It is pretty much our dream house and I am so excited. No remodeling required!
2) My job is changing at work (which it seems to do every fiscal year 😉 and I am excited about that. The role I had this last year was a s**t show tbh. But our beloved VP left a few weeks ago which sucks.
3) I was in Northern California for a work meeting for the first time since we moved to Colorado last December. I was afraid of being depressed and upset that I didn’t live there anymore, but was SO HAPPY to come home to Colorado! Also see #1 with house–would not have been able to live in a a house and neighborhood like this if we still lived there. Granted, I was in Palo Alto and not in the city or in Santa Cruz, but was not upset at all to leave.
However, I did get to do some quality shopping while I was there–went to my favorite consignment store and also the Amour Vert retail store there. I love so many things about Colorado, but shopping for anything other than cowboy boots or hiking boots leaves a little to be desired. 😉
Oh we test drove a Tesla because we could! My husband got a new car last year (the one we use for road trips) and we just couldn’t quite justify the price of a used Model S right now.
I loved the 90’s fashion and music! (disclaimer: I was in my 20’s during the 90’s, that might have something to do with that)
Glad there were no injuries! Still, sucks.
You look very cute in the pix. I finally got my elise knit dress. I was conflicted about the size: in Mandy, I am usually a small, including last year’s collab, but ES seems to have downsized their patterns lately. So I ordered a medium, and am glad I did. It is a bit loose-ish, but the sleeves/armholes are fine. I think one could go with one’s regular size pretty safely. I just like the look of an extra long tunic that I can layer both under and over.
Also ANOTHER plug for the ES Rebeka kimono–was perfect for my trip. Was able to layer over my office outfit when the air conditioning was freezing and the best layer for the plane–warm but not too warm. And made every outfit look better. Seriously will get every cent’s worth out of this!
same i think – maybe a little heavier…there’s more wood there LOL
i love the lug sole!!
I’m just so grateful that you’re ok. There’s only 1 Grechen, but there are lots of cars! <3
I love the look of the Kamm Sailor Pant, but there is no way on God's green earth that my waist, butt, hips or right foot would fit into them! I bought the Everlane cropped wide-legs as an alternative, but I got them today and it was a no-go. Fine in the hips..too tight in the waist, and too short. That's my story.
I am sad for you! I very much envy your height in theory, but I know as a practical question it can be quite challenging. (I am the short one in my family, although statistically I’m pretty average; the others are long legged like you!)
It’s ok, Kathryn – don’t be sad for me! I’ve got enough clothes..really! I hated being tall when I was younger because all of the boys were shorter than me. But eventually, they grew! My husband is 6’4″ so I could theoretically wear heels (but I don’t like them), and I love being tall now. 🙂
I’m so glad you’re ok! I love those your RC pants! And thanks for the mention (that podcast = many years of therapy for free!).
Your car was totaled but you weren’t injured? What a blessing. I’m glad you’re okay.
Cute outfit by the way! Love the shoes 🙂
I’ve owned a 2011 Mazda CX-7 (slightly larger precursor to the CX-5) for a few years now and I love it. It gets better gas mileage than the Mercury Sable I owned before and it holds 2 enormous car seats and all the junk two small children require at all times!
Yes. I was so lucky 🙂 and very very thankful.
