Dagny went on a tear this morning, pulling everything out of the recycling bin and playing with it, throwing it around/shredding it. I didn’t have time to clean it all up yet 🙂
Wearing/Buying
Guys. Sizing is a bitch. I received a pair of Elizabeth Suzann andy trousers in ivory silk crepe yesterday for slowre, size small, regular, and THEY FIT BETTER than my size medium, regular. Ugh. This is a major “problem” with shopping online and not being able to try things on in person; you don’t have sizes to compare. The small are just all around less “big” on me, with less material, which has sort of been a point of contention with my black silk Andy trousers, keeping me from really loving them.
Also, the specific “issue” with Elizabeth Suzann is now, do I sell my medium, regular (they’ve never been worn, but have been hemmed about an inch) and re-order the andy trousers in small, regular and wait on them to arrive in about 6-7 weeks? Or do I just keep and try to enjoy my mediums? They’re not bad, but they’re not exactly what I want. Why am I even thinking about it?? I should not settle for something that’s “not bad.”
Also I’m afraid my beloved Ace & Jig skirt is a little too small around the waist on me. But then again, I’ve been “hormonal” this week and feeling a little bloated, so maybe not, but when I wore it this past weekend, I felt more constricted than I did when I wore it before. I’m afraid though, that a medium would be a little too big and not sit high on my waist like I want it to, so I’m going to try and figure out a way to see if I can move the buttons on the skirt I have a little to create just a teeny bit more room in the waist. Fingers crossed 🙂 Or, I will just have to save the skirt for wearing on my more “normal” (not bloated) days.
In food news, I ordered and received this vegan protein powder by LivWell this week and enjoy it very much. I drink a smoothie with it every day after Pure Barre. In my smoothie I use a scoop of the protein powder + 3/4 cup water, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower, 1/2 teaspoon ashwaganda powder and 3-4 handfuls of raw spinach. Sometimes I’ll add almond butter. I love it.
Watching/Reading
Finished Marcella, now watching Godless, which I like a lot. I enjoy a good Western.
Speaking of, did you know that Lonesome Dove is one of my all time favorite books? I would like to read it again, but that book was one that I thought about and missed for months after finishing it. And when I wasn’t reading it, I missed the characters and the story like they were my family. Has anyone read any of his other books and found them as compelling (if you read and enjoyed Lonesome Dove, that is?). Do you have any other books in the western-genre to recommend? I read News of the World a while ago and that one also was just so beautiful…(as I was writing this I bought the Color of Lightning, by the same author of News of the World, because it is $1.99 🙂 )
Doing
No specific plans for the holiday weekend, maybe will go and see Crazy, Rich Asians?
I do want to try and alter my overalls myself though, so that will be quite a project. I know I CAN do it, in that I CAN do anything, but should I? I don’t know. I’m going to try anyway…
Oh yeah, and I have that quilt to baste and start quilting. I just can’t ever seem to get around to doing things like that when I’m not working. I’d rather just read.
What are you doing this weekend? Whatever it is, please enjoy it 🙂
Yes, sizing, ugh… In regards to the Andy trousers, maybe go ahead and order the small size but don’t sell the medium until you receive it? Just a thought. Or, come to Nashville for the next in person sale on September 22! That’s my son’s 11th birthday so I’m not sure I’ll make it. 🙁
Protein powder and smoothies. I used to have a smoothie with protein powder every morning for breakfast. Then I gave up on the protein powder because it’s expensive and I wasn’t really sure it was necessary. Lately I’ve become disenchanted with smoothies. Haven’t given them up entirely but I don’t have them every day. But I wonder with a different protein powder would I feel differently. It seems FOMO in smoothies has replaced my lost FOMO of skincare products.
Only concrete plan for the weekend is my TSA Global Entry interview on Sunday!
i HATED the protein powder i was using (just plain pea protein). i was using it because i wanted something cheaper than the clean protein/vitamin powder i had been using for several years. this livwell stuff is NOT cheaper ugh. but i do know that i don’t get enough protein – i barely get enough calories per day. and i can use more zinc and calcium, and this powder gives me some relatively large percentages of those so i don’t have to “worry” too much about them. i do eat yogurt everyday for calcium, and i eat one hard-boiled egg everyday, but i don’t eat any meat, so protein is a challenge. not that i believe i need as much as some suggest i do…
anyway, i also love the smoothie because it’s a good way to get a couple servings of leafy greens in without even thinking about it. that’s a big plus actually 🙂
OH!!! AND. i will not be able to come to nashville on the 22nd because i’m going to be driving through the next weekend on my way to kentucky for my aunt’s 80’th birthday. SO, maybe i can stop by ES then and do a little try on sesh? i don’t know if she’ll do that, but i might as well ask. i’ll have to see what my schedule will be though and if my mom will have the patience to indulge me LOL
It’s the leafy greens that make me want to keep up the smoothies! What flavor of livwell do you use?
i bought the vanilla and cacao and have only used the vanilla so far. i hardly ever make chocolate smoothies, so i’m not even sure why i bought it…maybe i thought i’d have it for an afternoon snack or something. i really really like the vanilla – it has cinnamon in it, so it has a nice spiciness.
I just binged “Godless” and even though I’m not a huge western fan, I really liked it. Jeff Daniels was good, but it was tough to see him play a bad guy!
About 1/2 way thru Season 2 of “The Americans” – jury is still out.
You should absolutely move the button over a little and that should make a big difference. I also think that I personally get used to clothing that is not constricting then have trouble with garments that have more “body” and fit close to my body.
I am not a western book or movie fan but LOVED, LOVED, LOVED True Grit by Charles Portis. A friend had recommended it to me and despite my reservations, read it and was so glad I did.
I have sworn off internet shopping, as I return 99% of what I order. I NEED to try on articles, as there is so much discrepancy between designer sizing and fit.
Have a good weekend!
