I hit my 500th class at Pure Barre Allen on Wednesday (in case you didn’t already see on Instagram…). I should be at about 850 overall (classes are counted at each individual studio and I’ve attended three), and will reach my five-year Pure Barre anniversary this coming May. Whoa. I can’t even imagine life without Pure Barre at this point. It has brought me a much-needed sense of stability, achievement, and community over the years and am grateful for it every day.
What I wore yesterday:
David Lerner coated high-waisted leggings
Elizabeth Suzann Harper wool sweater (gift to review)
Robert Clergerie Nalo wedges
Chan Luu scarf (purchased with credits at Garmentory)
Rag & Bone nylon backpack
Shopping:
I did order the E2 collection ribbed dress by Everlane to review, and I received a black cashmere crewneck as a replacement for my cropped cashmere sweater from last year that has two holes in it. I’m not giving up on the cropped sweater yet, I just need to find the thread to repair it. It fit so nicely and I was really looking forward to wearing it more. I wear it anyway, two holes aren’t going to kill me, but I did want to bring it to Everlane’s attention so I sent them an email about it. I really don’t think it’s moths, because I keep that sweater in the same drawer as all my others, and no others have holes. After I sent them an email I got a response that they’d like to send me a replacement, so I chose the new $100 crew to try. I received it yesterday and it’s good; a very basic crew neck. I asked for a small. I’ll do Everlane reviews next week!
I love my salon for many reasons, my stylist(s) are amazing, they have massage chairs at the washing stations, and it’s FILLED with lovely bird-themed art and now products! It’s not called The Songbird Society for nothing 😉 They carry lots of great beauty retail, and is where I discovered my now holy grail skin balm by Shiva Rose (I’ve repurchased three times). When I was there yesterday I bought this travel candle set by Green & Spring to try out the scent, but I’m not going to lie, I may have purchased it mostly because I can’t resist the little bird on the candle! I’m a sucker for all things bird.
Speaking of…
(I took this picture of a white-crowned sparrow out on my patio – I see this guy once a year ONLY and am obsessed with watching him hop around.)
Reading/Watching:
OMG Ray Donovan. I’ve been binging on this the last week, and I’ll be honest and say it’s mostly because of Liev Schreiber. The story/characters are engaging, and it’s a good show generally. But man…
Also, need to start with the next season of The Man in the High Castle. And did you see that Sherlock is back??? We don’t have cable anymore, so I’ll be using an antenna to get it, or I’ll buy it on iTunes. Or wait for it to come out on Netflix.
Happy Hannukah and Merry Christmas, whichever one you celebrate!!!!! Back on Monday with answers to your AMA questions. Be sure to add yours on this post if you have one. There are some GREAT ones already, I love them!
Lovin your outfits!!! Now you’re just rubbing it in with that gorgeous Chan Luu scarf….it goes with everything! And good timing with the mention of your hair salon: I was going to say “Your hair looks amazing! Shiny, movement, body, perfect highlights…it has it ALL. It looks like a pretty cool salon.
I’m looking at Everlane again…some pretty interesting stuff coming out soon.
I can’t wait for Sherlock! My daughter and I are counting the days. I wish they did more than 3 freakin’ episodes. And speaking of Liev Schreiber, I once saw him just down the street standing by the side of the beach road in his bathing suit…TOTALLY worth it!
I love your hair, Grechen. I just got mine cut short and I’m so happy with it. We don’t have cable, but we have a Roku and can stream PBS with its app. It makes it nice because we can’t always watch shows when they air since our boys are still up or just going to bed. Have a wonderful holiday break!
I’m interested in reading what you think about the E2 ribbed dress! I’m usually a 6 on top, 8 or 10 on bottom and the M was super tight and the L was still sheer on my butt. It’s crazy that that would be the biggest size they sell! It was really cute other than that but it was really disheartening to feel too big for the entire size range of a style.
I hope you will love that ribbed dress as much as I do! And your hair style is so cute and frames your face so nicely. Congrats on your Pure Barre achievement too!
Merry Hannukka/Christmas/Kwanzaa/Winter Solstice and everything else everyone!
