Wearing/Shopping
As I mentioned earlier in the week, James Perse is offering a free shipping coupon code (with orders over $250) and I featured some of the items I purchased a month or so ago but hadn’t worn on the blog yet. You see two of those pieces above.
A note on the pants: I sized down to a 27, which is two sizes down from my “normal” denim size, I think. I have no idea what my “size” is anymore. Anyway, I wear these quite a bit, they’re a good summer pant since they’re a linen blend – better in this weather than my Elizabeth Suzann Clyde pants for sure. In the photo above, I’ve worn them basically all day, so they’re all stretched out. They do have 1% elastane in them, so they keep some of their shape, but I like that in these pants, because otherwise they would look a mess.
And the top – This cotton/linen blend is amazing, and doesn’t stretch out like 100% linen does. I’ve worn it and washed it a half-dozen times already because somehow I manage to get something oil-based on it every time I wear it. I did size down to 0 in this top, which makes the neckline more “snug” than it would have been otherwise, but the size 1 was too big at the waist and hips for me.
Rag & Bone sale on sale – extra 30% off sale with code JUNESALE17. I bought this Rugby linen tee in small quite some time ago, because I had been looking for a simple, but VERY good light linen tee (I had a joie one many years ago that I wore to death and have been trying to find a suitable replacement for since), and this is absolutely it. It’s on sale now for $45.
Black Crane sale at garmentory – if you haven’t already, when you use my referral link to sign up for an account at Garmentory, you’ll get a $20 account credit and so will I. My painter jumper is still available in lighter linen, size medium (I have black, size small). I ordered this top in dark forest and print b (more color!!!), both in size small. Fingers crossed they fit, or else they’ll end up at slowre 😉
I COULD NOT RESIST THIS Eileen Fisher dress as I passed by the store at the mall the other day. I got it in a small, and will feature it here next week. I promise. In a few words, it’s pretty amazing. You have to layer it over a tank or tee since it’s rather open, but that’s the appeal of it for me, it really looks great over my Everlane ryan tanks, and muscle tank, t-shirts, and long sleeve shirts…
I ordered two of the new Everlane cross back dresses, one in blue, size 6 and green, size 8. I LOVE the cross back, and I think cobalt blue is a beautiful color, so I wanted to try. And just because I have the credit (I earn credit there when anyone buys anything via my referral link), I ordered the green one in a different size to compare. We’ll see how they fit – I’m more hopeful with these because they have a bit more structure than just a simple tee dress. Did you see they launched a “new” tee dress today too? lots of good colors, but it looks like the same fit as the beach dress, which is narrow from the waist, and runs small.
Reading/Watching
Now that my stepson is here, I’m not watching much other than catching up on Antiques Roadshow. And haven’t had time to read much either…I’m falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow lately; it’s the combination of the heat, and having such full days. Oh, and Dagny is waking up around 5 AM each morning for some reason, which is only 30 minutes before I usually wake up, but that 30 minutes makes a difference!!!
When I do have time to read, I’m reading Lovingkindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness by Sharon Salzberg, which is wonderful, inspiring, and beautiful. I’ve been working on lovingkindness meditation (I’m back to meditating every morning, and it’s amazing…) and it is transformative. I cried the first time I did it. It’s not as powerful every time, but it resonates so deeply with me, and allows me to put into practice my belief that there is no “other” – there is only “us.” We all want to be safe, happy, healthy and to live with ease. We are all the same.
Doing
Just a lot more slowre tweaking 😉
What are you doing this weekend?
Oh, and FYI, several readers have posted updates on their Elizabeth Suzann WWC orders on this post, so check in every once in awhile!
The everlane dresses look great! Grechen, does Everlane offer any deals on shipping or anything for first time purchasers? I’ve contemplated buying from them for years but haven’t yet…
they do free shipping when you order two+ pieces all the time, but i’m not sure about first-time buyers…maybe? otherwise no other deals. they did at first i think, but lately, i haven’t seen anything…
That Eileen Fisher dress is amazing and I am so tempted. Maybe i’ll see if my store here in Pasadena has it so I can try it on . Hmmm…
This weekend: was supposed to fly to San Francisco for the day for a relative’s memorial but I’ve developed bronchitis and am too wiped out to travel anywhere except my bed. I’ve been watching Animal Kingdom on Amazon Prime–it’s pretty addicting!
Thanks!! The green and blue are so good- I don’t know which would look better on….
Hi Grechen, I L-O-V-E this outfit. You look comfortable, hip, AND amazing!
I want those pants you’re wearing!!! They are exactly what I’m looking for in a casual “army-style” pant. I’d get them in olive. Hard to find in my size, tho. And the EF dress is so danged cute and looks really comfy, too.
I have my eye on a rag & bone tee that I spotted at a Sag Harbor boutique, but it’s pricey. I’ll check out the sale…Thx!
Also, I love the new a-line Everlane dress. So cute!
Binge watching the cancelled “Hannibal” series with the gorgeous Hugh Dancy and the terrifying Mads Mikkeksen. I have no idea why I like to be scared, but I even watch it at night when everyone else is in bed. And then when I go up, I jump into the bed as fast as I can! 😉
I have been wanting to get back to meditating and a friend suggested using the “Insight Timer” app. I have cried after massages, I think because of how healing they are to my body and soul. And I had a wonderful facial from a woman I met at my salon. She was so generous that I cried, and then she cried!
Missing my grandkids…having fun with my college-aged daughter while she’s on break…going to movies, lying on the beach, and watching TV together. (We’re extremely competitive about “Jeopardy”! And she’s good!) Working a bit, and doing the bride’s makeup for her wedding tomorrow, then attending the wedding outside on the cliffs of Montauk overlooking the Lighthouse, and the reception to follow!
Thanks for sharing the James Perse code! I picked up a few tees and the skinny skirt (we’ll see about that item – I’m 5’1 so it may hit at a weird length). Recent convert after having success with the shorter length of their slub tees :<) I am also really interested in the parachute poplin bomber jacket (and now, the tee you have on in the pic) but decided to hold off for now. Have you tried that piece? Have a great Sunday!
LOVE the slub tees!! and agree on the shorter lengths – JP tees are my favorites for that reason, they’re always the right length on me.
i love that parachute poplin jacket, but haven’t tried it, or seen it in person yet. i had a fleece bomber jacket a few years ago and it was wonderful, just turned out to not feel like “me” for some reason…
