Rudy Jude indigo dyed organic cotton sweatshirt | size 1
James Perse shirred tube skirt | no longer available
(but I did have one come through for slowre! Will be up in a week or two)
Golden Goose sneakers | yeah, I tried again (with credits I earn at Shopbop)
and this time I’ve found a pair that is comfortable. I just couldn’t resist trying the platform…
Wearing/Buying
I need to replace a couple of my old James Perse sweatshirts for wearing outside the house with ones that actually fit me, and that aren’t pretty worn looking from a near decade of wear. Instead of going straight for James Perse again, I wanted to try something new, organic, and independent. I don’t remember why/how I started following Rudy Jude (it’s mostly kid’s clothes), but I did, and got an email over the weekend that their indigo collection was launching and it came with a 20% off coupon code, so I thought I’d give it a try.
I am wearing the size 1 sweatshirt, which is simply characterized as “cropped,” and indeed it is. Perfectly so, for my body. It is exactly how I wanted it to fit. The sleeves aren’t too long on me either, and it has a nice boxy cut which hangs beautifully away from my waist in the back. Well done all around, and the indigo dye is gorgeous.
(I didn’t actually WEAR this out of the house, I should qualify. It’s WAY TOO MUGGY and hot for that still. But I’ve worn it in the house since the a/c is working overtime lately…)
I’m surprising myself, honestly, with my purchases lately, and while I’m a teeny bit concerned I am going overboard with all the color, I’m having a blast. I’m not overthinking the wearing of it either, like I used to. I just put something on and wear it, not worrying about much besides being comfortable and dressed to face the elements. It is FUN, this subtle art of not giving a fuck. I only hope to be more consistent in my practice of it.
Reading/Watching
Leo and I are finishing the second season of Ozark tonight and I already miss it. What a brilliant show. Truly. I mean, Jason Bateman doesn’t hurt either, c’mon. I’m also at the end of Godless, and I will miss that as well. Beautiful is the best way I can describe Godless. In every way.
I think I’ll start on Poldark afterwards?
I enjoyed this article about Rachel Comey in The Cut – not only to discover that she and I are the same age, but also to confirm why I like her clothes so much. There is an amazing human being behind them, and they ALWAYS fit beautifully (once you settle on the right size) and are practical for everyday life while also being the most interesting pieces you’d probably ever wear.
Another good piece is this one about Robin Wright in Porter . I have always loved her, since The Princess Bride, up to House of Cards.
Doing
No plans for the weekend. I would like to get better about planning things to do on the weekends. I really do appreciate that I can get up and read for as many hours as I want, but I usually can’t manage that much past noon, and then I don’t know what to do with myself and end up piddling around aimlessly. Then I feel rather disappointed by the end of the day, because I do have things I WANT to do (work on my quilt, play around my sewing machine, go birding, bookstore…), it’s just easier to not do them LOL.
Hope you had a good week, and a wonderful weekend!!
That’s a great fit on you for the sweatshirt. I think I’d live in it all winter if I could find one that fit as well as that does on you. I love the indigo too. I’ve been liking that colour with dark jeans for a kind of monochromatic but yet not black look. You’ve got me thinking about sweatshirts in a whole new way now 🙂 Happy weekend!
I really love this look on you – it’s very “lengthening”! And blue/black is one of my favorite pairings because it truly confounds people…”Wait! You can’t wear those together!” Oh, yes I can!
I just started on Season 2 of “Ozark” and I had a hard time turning off the TV! It can be pretty brutal but man, the story and acting are great!
You need to watch (on Netflix) EL CHAPO wow!! Ai!
