Wearing/Buying
So excited it was warmer for a couple days here and I could just get dressed without worrying about freezing. This onesie was so much fun to wear, and ridiculously comfortable. I don’t love it layered like this, but it’s not warm enough to wear alone yet. It’ll be great for spring/summer because the textile is very lightweight and breathable. And it’s got a low v-neck in the back – built in A/C !!!
I am probably going to return the Madewell Fair Trade jeans I bought this week, mostly because they made me remember how much I dislike stretchy jeans, and also because I don’t really need them. I have quite a few pairs of comfortable pants to wear the rest of my pregnancy, and honestly, when it warms up here (hopefully in a month), I’ll be wearing all my jumpsuits and dresses as often as possible anyway. I do like them a lot, for stretchy denim, and definitely recommend checking them out if you’re in the market for jeans and want a more responsible option from a mass retailer.
The Everlane cotton wrap cardigan arrived yesterday and I like it, but it’s nothing amazing IMO, which is the way I feel about everything Everlane lately, just meh. It’s very good, don’t get me wrong, and I love a tie-waist sweater. It’s just sort of boring. But as I mentioned this week, it’s not a bad idea to buy/keep things that don’t necessarily spark joy, but do fill a need in your wardrobe, and/or are practical for certain situations. This sweater will be great for warmer weather, and to throw on with my James Perse dresses when I want pockets.
Reading/Watching
I started reading Black Leopard Red Wolf this week (fantasy) because I’d heard an interview with the author on NPR and then read something somewhere else and was intrigued. I’m hard-pressed to read “new” fantasy, or authors I’m not familiar with; I’m somewhat of a critic when it comes to that genre, having very high standards LOL. So far, I’m enjoying it, although it’s been a little slow to get into, and very different from what I’ve read before. I do recommend it though, even so, because it’s so different, and challenging, in a way.
Doing
I got a c-shaped body pillow this week after talking to a teacher at Pure Barre about hers. I specifically mentioned that I wake up a lot as a result of rolling over onto my back which makes one of my arms fall asleep. She said she had that same thing happen and tried this C-shaped body pillow, which solved the problem by supporting her back. So far so good, and as you can see Dagny loves it 🙂
I think it helps me sleep better – that and a humidifier. Last night I slept through the night without waking up once. Not even for the bathroom. I was so excited!! It could be that Leo was out of town, which meant that Dagny could have all his side of the bed instead of encroaching on mine though…
Incidentally, this is what happens when you love grey LOL you end up with varying shades, some of which tend towards blue – not a fan. When we buy new sheets for the bed I’m going to get white haha.
Hope you had a good week! Anything fun to share? What are you doing this weekend? What have you bought/worn lately that you love?
Ha! I got a J-shaped pillow when I was pregnant for the same reason. Later when my son moved into a toddler bed I gave it to him. It’s long gone now but I loved that pillow.
I’ve been layering long-sleeved tops under my ES Mara jumpsuit and been getting compliments. It also has a low v in the back (built-in air conditioning – absolutely). I’m definitely looking forward to being able to wear it on its own again.
I think my ES Maxine top was delivered today. We’ll see if I can pull it off.
I recently bought a wrap jumpsuit by Rujuta Sheth – https://rujutasheth.com/collections/jumpsuits/products/copy-of-wrap-jumper – on sale at Bona Drag. I haven’t had a chance to wear it out yet due to the weather here, but it is so cute! I think it would probably be great for pregnancy and breastfeeding due to lots of room/flexibility in the midsection and a semi-hidden button placket. I got the cotton/linen version but I’m super intrigued by the cotton waffle knit version…
I had that in white cotton!! It didn’t fit my body right but man…I thought it was so cool!!!
Hi, Grechen! Did you end up ordering/receiving the Everlane Form bag that you mentioned in your post last August? I am trying to find a good workbag and the Form bag is on the list. But I would press the button without thinking twice (or completely reject it) if there was a review from you 🙂 Thanks!
Hi Sarah! I did order it and it just sat there- I never wanted to carry it. I thought it was a quality bag and it looked like it would work hard but I forgot that I always need a way to grab a Bag with short handles as well. Like a tote? Maybe doesn’t make sense but for my lifestyle I have just found that I need multiple carrying options and that bag doesn’t have it…
Got it, thanks for your input! I will look elsewhere…
HI Grechen – thanks for mentioning “Black Leopard Red Wolf” – I just saw Marlon James on Sunday night talking about and reading from this new book. He is a great interview – challenging and interesting and am looking forward to reading the novel (which is actually Part 1 of a planned trilogy – not a chronological trilogy, but as he explained, 3 books telling the same story from 3 different perspectives.)
oh, that is very interesting! i hadn’t heard that.
i’m enjoying the book so far, although it’s not really going anywhere? if that makes sense. but i’ve read a lot and i’m not very far into it yet LOL
