Wearing/Buying
I still have not worn this jacket outside of the house. Today, I am making myself, although I technically haven’t left yet, so there’s still time to change my mind LOL. I really love it, but………
That usually means it’s time to let a piece go, but I can’t quite bring myself to sell this jacket until I give it a fighting chance, and I feel like I don’t need to be so brutal with my purges as I have been in the past, so I’m going to hold on to it through spring to see if I wear it when it’s more seasonally appropriate. (it’s been warm here the last couple of days though…)
I saw a woman at Trader Joe’s wearing these Nike sneakers yesterday and stopped her to tell her how amazing they are. Side note: if you ever wonder whether or not to say something to a person you think looks particularly radiant, or is wearing something interesting, or whatever, DO IT. I stopped her and told her her shoes were so good, and she thanked me, then asked if I thought she was too old to wear them, or if they were too much. I said hell no (she looked around 50? very stylish and chic, not at all Dallas-y LOL) and she should rock them. We exchanged names and talked a little more and she thanked me for helping her to “move on” from her concerns.
Of course, I sought them out when I got home because I LOVE them, and she assured me that they’re comfortable. But I’m not buying any new leather right now, so I didn’t order them. I might have bought this pair instead, made from synthetic material, but they’re sold out in most sizes.
I did receive the two bodysuits I ordered from Madewell yesterday (this one & this one – both medium). I haven’t worn them yet, but I will say I like them much better than the Everlane one (I do already have Madewell’s turtleneck bodysuit and I wear it A LOT). As I was wearing it yesterday it started riding up a little so when I was out in the parking lot I discreetly reached around to dislodge it and the snaps came undone!! Oops. Haha, no one noticed of course, but me, but it wasn’t very comfortable like that for very long…
Reading
I am slowly reading Sophie’s Choice right now. So slowly, I don’t even know what her choice is yet!! And no, I haven’t seen the movie. I’ve only had time to read at night, in bed, which means I make it through a couple pages before falling asleep. Other than that, I’m not reading or watching much lately, at least not consistently.
Doing
Tonight is my husband and sister’s company holiday “party” so there’s that. haha… so excited about it. I will probably wear the new Madewell wrap bodysuit with my Rachel Comey jeans; it’s casual attire. Hopefully this weekend I can catch up on my reading, and photography for new products at slowre.
What are your plans this weekend?
I’m lovin’ the way that jacket looks with the jeans and tee – edgy, but in a chic way. The side hair part is very flattering!
I love complimenting people on their hair, lip color, clothes, etc. I know how good I feel when someone notices and seeks me out to tell me, and I like to see the smile on a person’s face when I give a compliment. It’s so fun being nice!
Sophie’s Choice….stick with it. You’ll get there. I love William Styron’s writing. Darkness Visible, his journey through depression, absolutely does me in with the accuracy of his description of the pain of depression.
Taking my husband to a tasting at all-local, everything sustainable beer tap room for his birthday on Saturday! Then “Lessons & Carols” contemplative service on Sunday evening at the college chapel. Seems like a good way to kick off the last month of 2018.
Love the pairing of the jacket with the tee. I bet it would look good with that wrap bodysuit too.
I’ve just been catching up on your recent posts in one sitting, so I have several seemingly unrelated things to say! 1) Really liking your blonder hair! I was without a computer at home for a few months and therefore stopped reading blogs, so I have no idea how long its been blonder, but it looks good. A little edgier than before. 2) I bought some small gifts at Sephora on Black Friday, but was repulsed by the insanity at the stores otherwise and literally walked out of several within minutes of walking in because the chaos was just not worth the product on offer. 3) Meanwhile, I’ve found it really hypocritical this year that so many big influencers (mostly on youtube which I watch a lot because I live overseas and have limited tv options) are talking about sustainability suddenly and how the Black Friday sales were overwhelming and there is too much stuff. As if they haven’t been trying to make their entire audience think they need multiple $4,000 purses for the last few years. Huge eye roll. 4) Very interesting to read about how your income from blogging has changed and how you are making your money from Slowre now. I’d be interested to know more about Slowre and how you’ve found it getting started with getting consignment etc.
I am new to your blog and I love it!!! Your fashion and style is such a real and refreshing change from what’s happening on the internet right now. And your warm commentary is just a total bonus! Thank you! I love these Mother denim Thrasher jeans on you…might try them for myself! (We are similar in shape and height.) Do they run slightly large? I have other Mother denim in 28 and 29.
thank you stacy! and welcome 🙂
i don’t have a lot of experience with mother, but i THINK they run a little small? only that my rag & bone jeans are usually 28 and these feel a little smaller. like, i wonder if i’d had a chance to try them on in person if i’d have chosen the size 29 instead of the 28? just for a little more room? and this particular style, for being 100% cotton, doesn’t seem to stretch as much as some of my other 100% cotton jeans have.
