not my bed, although I wouldn’t be sad if it was…

What time do you go to bed? Wake up?
I usually go to bed between 9 and 10 and wake up between 6 and 6:30. I try to go to bed before I’m exhausted so I can read for a little while. But what usually ends up happening is that my head hits the pillow, I read for a second and then wake up a couple hours later with my kindle under my pillow or something.
I don’t set an alarm (I don’t have to…), I just wake up when my body feels like it or whenever Dagny wants to get up LOL. I usually do feel like I get enough sleep, if I don’t, I am a disaster; I absolutely cannot function well with less than 7-8 hours of sleep. I know this about myself. Sleep is SO important to me, because I know what a mess I am when I don’t sleep well. I try very hard to go to bed at the same time, not eat for a couple of hours beforehand, and not use a lot of electronic equipment in bed so I can optimize my sleep quality.
What do you sleep in? Size of your bed?
In the warmer months, I sleep in nothing. When it’s cold, I wear leggings and a long sleeve tee, or a nightgown (I have an organic cotton one by Domi that I love). In the winter, I freeze at night, and we generally keep our house rather cool, so I’ve found I’m more comfortable with long sleeves. Also, makes it so my arms aren’t cold while I’m trying to hold my kindle and read!
We have a king size mattress that is basically on the floor with a frame around it (the internal structure holding the mattress up off the floor broke a few years ago) and it’s barely big enough for the three of us. Yes, of COURSE Dagny sleeps with us…I wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s not small though, and somehow she manages to spread herself out between us longwise so she takes up as much room as possible LOL. She doesn’t always sleep in our bed, she has her own she sleeps in too, but when it’s really cold, she’ll always sleep in the bed with us; it keeps her warmer, and us too.
Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
No. Only sometimes 😉 Leo stays up and drives on his simulator most nights until 1-2 and sleeps a little later than I do. He doesn’t seem to need as much sleep, or so he says. It’s sort of hard like this, I won’t lie, because I will sometimes be deep asleep when he comes to bed, which disturbs me, and then I have a heck of a time getting back to sleep, but generally I stay passed out.
Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
No. haha. I guess when it’s really cold, I like to take a bath to warm up and then get into bed, but otherwise, I just wash my face, brush my teeth and hop into bed. I do have an evening ritual of drinking a big cup of tea an hour or so before bed though. Which I drink while watching Netflix. I DO NOT WATCH TV IN BED. I am opposed to watching tv in bed LOL
What do you have on your bed?
We have organic cotton sheets I got on super-sale at Nordstrom recently that don’t match anything else. White organic cotton pillow cases (I have a satin pillowcase on my pillow), and a linen cover on our lightweight down comforter. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get linen sheets, but Leo’s not on board. In fact, I’d love to ditch the top sheet altogether and just use the linen cover we have, but he’s DEFINITELY not down with that. When I can afford to buy linen sheets I’ll have to just do it and he’ll get used to it. In the winter I have an old afghan my grandmother made on my side of the bed, and if it’s FREEZING, I add my alpaca throw. In the summer sometimes I add a linen blanket on top of the comforter.
I don’t really “decorate” in our bedroom so we don’t have any extra pillows on the bed or anything, or any kind of color scheme. Besides white & gray 😉
1. On weeknights I’m usually in bed and ready to sleep by 9:30pm. I wake up around 5:45-6am; on weekends I sleep a little later, maybe 11pm and wake up around 6 or 6:30am. I would love to be able to sleep in more on weekends but my brain is wired to get up early for some reason.
2. I don’t sleep in anything usually. I usually get very hot in the middle of the night when I would wear pj’s to bed so I find no clothes is much more comfy. We have a king-size mattress that is set on a platform bed frame made from reclaimed wood. These two guys had to build the bed in my bedroom b/c it was too huge to make it first and then move through my doorway. Our two English Bulldogs sleep with us…it’s a very, very crowded bed (needless to say!)
3. My partner and I do go to bed at around the same time
4. Pre-bedtime rituals–probably just reading and listening to talk radio for a little while.
5. I recently bought some sheets from Brookline and really like them. I too want to get linen sheets and a linen duvet would be so lovely, but will need to wait for that. I also got us two twin comforters instead of 1 king comforter and we seem to like this set up much better (no more hogging covers). I have too many pillows on my bed and my sheets don’t match either. Oh, and the occasional dog toy will also be found on bed! My dream color scheme for the bedroom is white and cream…
oh! such a good idea about twin comforters…although there’s no hogging of covers in our bed, leo stays really hot most of the time, and doesn’t use them…
1. What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
Around 11PM, around 7AM, multiple night wakings to nurse. No. Resounding no.
2. What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you?
Nursing friendly top and PJ shorts or pants. King. Sometimes, but we usually shut the cats out of the bedroom because while they are fabulous snugglers, they also like to bat things around the master bathroom floor and knock things out of the bathroom windowsill, which makes me feel rage-y when it wakes me up and that’s not good for any of us. We sleep in cotton flannel in the winter and 100% cotton the rest of the year. Wool-fill comforter, sometimes with a duvet cover. Army-issue wool blanket over the comforter in coldest months. I’d LOVE to get linen sheets and comforter but it’s not in the budget right now.
Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
Usually close to the same time.
Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
Nurse the baby. Try to convince the baby to sleep in her bed. Hopefully brush teeth and remove contacts. BIG goals. Ha.
What do you have on your bed?
Comforter, sheets, blanket, four pillows (two sets of king pillows), and usually a baby toy of some sort.
🙂
What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
Get in bed around 9:15 after (sometimes) washing face & putting on face stuff. Read until ~10pm then sleep until 6 when coffeemaker goes off. Usually get up, maybe sleep a little longer (6:20) to get up, shower etc. I’m usually pretty happy with this amount of sleep. Pretty much the same schedule on weekends too, maybe sleep until 7 if I stay up until 10 😉 I also like to take a nap (in the basement with the cat) on Sat or Sun.
What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you?
Nothing. Haven’t worn jammies except family vacations since college. We have a king size bed with an upholstered headboard we made ourselves. I need the underbed storage space! No pets – our cat is technically indoor/outdoor but her nights are spent in the basement garage and she’s only allowed in the basement (it’s finished & we spend a lot of time there with her). I’m now allergic so I don’t want her in our upstairs & bedroom. But I don’t think that will last forever…(aka she also used to be an outdoor cat and our resistance is being worn down 😉 [she has an rfid chip in her collar so she can get into the garage any time she wants – her food is on an automatic feeder there and she has multiple heated beds! Even though it’s not that cold….Yes, I’m totally defensive about having an outdoor cat….
Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
Yes. And most nights we fall asleep around the same time, though every so often one of us will stay up late reading or finishing something on tv…Seeing my friends & family who have different circadian rhythms – I am SOOO happy our times are pretty in sync with one another!
Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
I try to remember to wash my face & put on cream/oil/serum/retinA or whatever I’m currently using. I always read before bed. But then, I pretty much always want to read….
What do you have on your bed?
In the winter, flannel sheets. Husband has a twin size electric blanket and that has SAVED our marriage. He’s always cold & I want to keep the bedroom cold so I can cuddle under the down comforter, so our compromise (many years in the making…) is keeping the furnace at 66, keeping the bedroom vents closed, and the smaller size electric blanket so he can warm up as needed. And the gas stove in the living room is on a timer so it’s warm in there for him in the morning & at night, but the rest of the house stays cooler…
In the summer, high thread count cotton sheets, cotton woven blanket & silk coverlet. I’d love to do linen as well but husband does NOT like the linen pillowcases we have so I don’t think I’ll spend the money on an entire sheet set…
What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
I go to bed around ten and am up by seven. I NEVER get enough sleep! I have a difficult time turning off my brain and I’m a really light sleeper and everything wakes me (even with an eye mask and ear plugs).
What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you?
In the summer, just my skin! In the winter, boy shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt (like you, to keep my arms warm while reading). Our bed is a queen. My 120 lb lab sleeps with us until my husband makes him get down at some random time in the middle of the night.
Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
My husband and I go to bed at the same time.
Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
I usually read for a bit and then put on sleep meditation music or listen to a Tara Branch podcast (her voice soothes me!).
What do you have on your bed?
White cotton sheets, two pillows for each of us, a light down comforter with a light gray linen duvet. There is also a fleece throw that I try in vain to keep the dog on so I don’t have to wash the duvet as often.
What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
Between 930 and 1030 for sleeping. My wake up time depends on the day, on the days I teach or take class, I’m up at 7 on the days I take my husband to the acupuncturist I’m up at 800, If I’ve got nothing going on I normally get up between 8-830. Mostly I feel like I get enough sleep, if I’m particularly tired one day I’m not opposed to a nap. I love an afternoon nap!
What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you?
I sleep in pants and old tee shirts all year around. I can not sleep without my legs being covered. Even in the hot hot Florida summers, I sleep in linen pants and a blanket on top, Usually sweating (such a weirdo).
We had a full size bed for years, it was my husbands teak low profile bed from high school and college. We had two dogs and numerous cats in bed with us. When we added the third dog we had to move up to a queen.
Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
Yes, but I wake up before he does.
Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
Teeth, face, and I like to read before bed, sometimes 5 minutes sometimes 30 or so. I’m very anti tv in the bedroom.
What do you have on your bed?
In the summer linen sheets and a linen comforter, in the winter tencel sheets and a thick cotton blanket, and lately a down comforter because it has been so very very cold. I also have two euro pillows and countless throw pillows because I’m always finding fabric I like and making new ones. All these extra pillows get thrown in the closet for sleeping. We each sleep with one normally type pillow.
What a fun one!
1. I try to get in bed around 9:30 p.m., and usually read until a little after 10. I set my alarm for 6:45 a.m. and snooze until 7. I feel like that should be enough sleep for me, but my body would do best with a 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. rise time. I have to be at work at 8, so that’s a no-go. (I also just transitioned my fitbit to sensitive settings, and found that even though I was in bed for 8 hours, I was only asleep for 4 hours, 49 minutes; I definitely felt that this morning).
2. I sleep in either a sleepshirt or a tee and leggings. I had the revelation a couple years back that I don’t like sleeping in wide-leg pants because they bunch around my knees during the night. We have a queen bed, and no pets.
3. We go to bed at roughly the same time. I’m usually first in so I can read, and he moseys in a bit later, sometimes accompanied by his laptop (which I don’t love).
Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
4. A book, a mug of Sleepytime tea, some Badgers sleep balm, and an oil diffuser with lavender or a sleep oil blend. Cozy socks if it’s cold out!
5. Ugh, IKEA everything. The sheets, the duvet, the comforter, the bed, everything. I also want to spring for the linen sheets when I can. He’s on board as well, but they’re definitely pricey (hmm… plane ticket or sheets?). They’d be a big help in the Floridian summer, though.
plane ticket 🙂
linen sheets can wait!!
that’s interesting to note that you were only asleep for less than five hours!
i wish i could take naps, but i have tried and i just can’t. it’s probably more emotional than anything, really. i feel guilty 🙂
queen size bed with a big lab?? leo and i can hardly manage a queen size bed when we’re traveling…we joke about having to touch each other while we’re sleeping lol – he is SO HOT natured that i can’t handle him near me because i like to be cozy under the blankets!
i have listened to some guided meditations with tara branch and i agree, her voice is very soothing. will have to try out one of her podcasts!
why are linen sheets so expensive??
i’ve been doing things in stages i guess, starting with the linen comforter cover. that’s what you see the most, anyway. i think next i’ll do pillowcases, and then move on to sheets when it’s in the budget.
i feel for you 🙂 this too shall pass though…
1.What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
I’m so bad! I sometimes stay up until 2 or 3am reading on my iPad or doing a crossword, both of which are sleep hygiene no no’s. I wake up around 10. I HATE getting up early. I usually get 8 hrs, so yes. (Enough to realize that this is “9 Questions” 😉 )
2.What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you?
Tank top and leggings or pj pants…I can’t stand nightgowns twisting around my legs. In the summer, it’s tank top and pj shorts. The cat tries to sleep with us, but he’s never satisfied and always ends up on my head, so no, he gets booted out!
3.Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
Nope. Hubby goes to bed around 9:30 or 10 and I’m just getting revved up!
4.Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
I’m trying to do better, so I’m drinking a turmeric latte before bed. No TV for us, either. Now, I’ve gotta ditch the iPad earlier.
5.What do you have on your bed?
I love changing out our room decor every so often, so we’ve got white linen sheets (and my satin pillowcase), a charcoal linen duvet, a light quilted coverlet and African mud cloth toss pillows. It gets VERY cold where I live and we turn the heat down to 60 at night.
Ahhhh….naps. <3
I grew up with outdoor cats. If you’re raised in the country, it’s just a part of life! Mine always had a farm shed to sleep in, with hay beds and lots of food. (My job) Never lost one to the road. My cat now is a big spoiled indoor baby!
What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
I go to bed around 11pm and wake up at 7:30am on weekdays. On weekends, I don’t set an alarm and usually wake up between 8 and 9am. I am really good at sleeping, lol, and usually feel well-rested!
What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you?
I haaaate being too warm at night, so often I just wear a tshirt and underwear, but if I need something on my legs I’ll wear thin pj pants. I also bought a sleep romper recently that is so comfy and also cute! I share a full size bed with my snuggly cat and my husband.
Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
I usually go to sleep a couple hours before him. He’ll come in and kiss me goodnight and snuggle a bit, then usually leave to play video games or watch tv for a while longer.
Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
I like to shower before bed, rather than in the morning. It works better with my hair and is just a habit of mine. Other than that, no real ritual.
What do you have on your bed?
A king-size duvet (which cut down on blanket-stealing a lot!) and right now, flannel sheets. Once it’s not so cold, we’ll switch to our Brooklinen classic sheets, which I love.
I bought my linen sheets from Overstock.com and I’m really happy with them! They keep getting softer, and they weren’t all that expensive.
1. I usually go to bed between 9:30 and 10, and wake up between 6:30 and 7am. My schedule is pretty variable so 7 seems like a rule of thumb that works for me. I generally feel like I get enough sleep, and I’m like you, I can’t function on little sleep. I can go a couple days on 6 hours, but even then I need a “catch up” sleep day. I don’t even want to think what I’ll be like when I have kids!
2. In the winter, I sleep with leggings, a longsleeve shirt which is anywhere from my Smartwool 1/4 zip to my ES Raw Silk Harper. In the summer, I sleep in a long t-shirt and that’s it. My husband, our cat and myself all sleep hot, so it doesn’t take a lot to get overheated in our house! And YES our cat sleeps with us. Ever since I was a kid I’ve had a cat that slept in bed with me — I think I sleep better with a cat around! I find it comforting until they start pawing your face for breakfast 🙂
3. I like this question because early on when we started living together I realized I REALLY prefer that we go to bed at the same time. I feel more connected to him for some reason when we do that. It doesn’t always happen (And sometimes I want to go to bed solo) but during weeknights we usually go to bed at the same time.
4. Bathroom, Brush teeth, read for 20 minutes or so, then I’m out. I’ve never been an “asleep once I hit the pillow” kinda person, but I do like to settle into bed 30 mins or so before my “bedtime” so that I can settle down, especially if I’ve been looking at a screen!
5. Gosh, our bed is such a hodge-podge. We just moved into our first purchased home and with all the hand-me-downs from our parents, we just have a slew of multicolored blankets and quilts while we save up money for something more cohesive (my goal, not husband’s). I’m aiming for a linen sheet set, and either a duvet or handmade quilt with a wool blanket underneath, I’ll decide when the buying time comes!
What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep? It varies a lot, depending on the season and my work schedule. Right now I fall asleep between 9 and 10, and usually wake up between 5:30 and 6:00. If I’m working in the morning I do set an alarm, because I have to make kid lunch, husband lunch, my lunch, and I hate feeling rushed in the morning — way more than I dislike an alarm. 90% of the time I wake up before my alarm though.
What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you? We have a queen sized Avocado mattress — we replaced a really old wool/cotton futon mattress last summer. The futon is now the guest bed in the basement, so not a wasteful upgrade at all. And we thought about if for MONTHS and MONTHS before we bit the bullet, narrowing it down to Spindle and Avocado — we went with the Avocado because it seems like the steel springs inside add a little resilience, and they’re buried so deep in there you can’t really feel them. Very happy with the mattress, BTW.
Dog is absolutely not allowed in the bed (the ticks are too bad where I live). When it’s hot I sleep in nothing. When it’s cold, I wear a loose tee (prefer long sleeve but sometimes end up in a short-sleeve if I haven’t done laundry in a while), and a pair of lightweight shorts (I have 3 pairs of random cheap PJ shorts, all super comfy, but could use a couple more).
Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time? DH usually stays up a bit later than I do — maybe half an hour to an hour (the length of an episode of whatever he’s watching 😉 ).
Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals? I make a big pot of a loose-leaf tisane after dinner, and we drink that at a leisurely pace, as a family, throughout the evening. Once my 3yo is ready for bed, I read one or two stories to him in bed (he’d prefer seven or eight, I’m sure!), and I usually have to stay and cuddle/chat with him for quite a while. My own ritual is just puttering in the kitchen, toothbrushing, face-washing. I’ve mostly given up reading at night. I much prefer reading with coffee at hand. 😉
What do you have on your bed? Right now, some organic percale sheets form West Elm with a sort of abstract tree print, picked up for super cheap, and a discounted Coyuchi percale duvet cover, bought on deep discount from Sierra Trading Post, over a wool-filled comforter (down would be way to warm for us, even though we keep it pretty cool at night). We have a cheapo linen duvet cover that is *finally* softening up after, like three years. It’s definitely our second choice, though. But definitely need two, since I line-dry linens much of the year. During shoulder seasons (when we try not to heat too much since it’s not quite freezing out and the house gets COLD at night), we switch to flannel sheets for warmth. DS uses them all winter, but DH and I often get too warm with the flannel sheets. DH definitely has no interest in linen sheets. I would love it, but I don’t think I can sell him on the idea. I’m fine with percale, tbh.
Linen sheets are the bomb. So freaking soft and quiet. That sounds weird, but I noticed when we got the linen sheets they weren’t noisy at all. They don’t crinkle and swish like cotton sheets do so they are really quiet when moving around in bed. I have two sets, both bought from West Elm on sale. Our guest bed has linen/cotton sheets bought from Target. They are pretty good as well, but that’s just what I hear from my husband because he sleeps in the guest room half the time.
After 13 years of being together, 10 were in a tiny 420 square foot apartment where we had to stay in the same room together, we realized we like to spread out. It’s not a relationship thing at all, it’s totally a comfort thing. We both sleep better separately and now half the time he sleeps in the guest room and I sleep in the master room. Sometimes if we sleep in the same bed and one of us isn’t able to sleep I’ll evict him or he’ll automatically get up and go to the guest room. It’s also helpful for nights he’s up later than me, which he usually is. His work schedule is later than mine so he goes to bed a little later. Our cats get locked up in the basement at night. Most people go “OMG that’s so cruel” but it’s not because the basement is 80% finished (certain areas) so the cats basically have a nice penthouse of their own to hang out in at night. They have their beds and a sofa and blankets as well. Food and litter boxes are down there as well. If we didn’t do this, we’d be in jail for murder because the cats are up at all hours of the night bouncing off the walls. We know this because we put a security camera device down there for the first year we moved into the house and saw their insane antics. We’d never get sleep if they were allowed to roam the house freely at night.
I go to bed around 10:30-11 and get up at 6:45 during weekdays and 11pm-12 am to 9-ish on the weekends. I don’t have any bedtime rituals, unless you count turning on the white noise machine. I can’t sleep in silence and white noise helps me (and sometimes drowns out Z’s noisiness if he’s sleeping with me that night). I sleep in tee shirts and sometimes socks if it’s super cold in the winter.
1. What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
I go to bed around 9.30pm and try to be lights-out around 10pm.
Generally wake up anywhere between 5.40am and 6.20am.
I’m one of these people that NEEDS to get 8hrs or I just don’t function.
2. What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you?
I don’t sleep in anything. If I’m staying at someone’s house, I do though!
We have a queen sized bed. I’d really like a king though.
We have a cat and she sleeps in the bed with us in winter (she puts herself there during the night!)
3. Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
Kind of. I usually head to bed at 9.30pm and read to wind down before lights-out. He generally climbs straight into bed at 10pm and immediately falls asleep (I really don’t know how he does it)
4. Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
Just my pre-lights-out reading.
5. What do you have on your bed?
It’s summer here and our night time temperatures aren’t falling below 24 C (75F) so we’re just in a cotton sheet. Last night we’ve had a bit of a reprieve and the temp dropped to 13C (55F) and I dragged a cotton waffle blanket over me.
As the weather gets colder, I add a duvet which I change out as the temps descend. Middle of winter, generally we have flannel sheets + wool blanket + down duvet.
What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
1. About 9-930, and I wake up around 5-530. I do not get enough sleep. I am happiest and feel best when I can get about 10-11 hours each night and I’ve given up hope that will ever happen regularly. I have a toddler (and a baby on the way…oh lord), so I will never be rested until I’m probably in my 60s.
2. I sleep in a t shirt and some thin pants. My main bed is queen size…but I’ve been sleeping in my daughter’s twin bed because it’s a lot softer. Oh yes to pets – my pit mix is always cold and sleeps under the covers next to my legs. Also my toddler bounces back and forth between my bed and my husband’s, so that counts as a pet I guess. Also the big yeti dog sometimes sleeps on my husband, along with the cat.
3. We haven’t really gone to bed at the same time simply because I like to go to bed early, and he likes to stay up and game. That’s never bothered me, it works for us. But now we’re all going to bed at the same time to help the toddler establish a bed time routine.
4. Go to the bathroom, drink some more water.
5. Too much crap. 🙂 Like I said, I sleep in my daughter’s bed so there are whatever cheap sheets I could find, a blanket, and a million stuffed animals and various toys. For the master bed, we usually put nice quality 100% cotton sheets on it and have a couple of homemade quilts from my MIL. And copious amounts of dog hair. 🙂
Me and my husband sleep better separately as well. For one thing, I give off an enormous amount of heat, and he always gets too hot. Then I’m a light sleeper and like a softer bed, he likes a hard bed and any movement from him wakes me up.
Hey I hear you about the cats – one of my cats growing up would yowl throughout the night and rattle the blinds. We ended up crating him in a very handsome crate in the kitchen during the night.
1. Between 10 & 12. I shoot for 10. I wake up between 6 & 7. If I get into bed by 10 and sleep well through the night I feel like I get enough.
2. I don’t wear much when I sleep, usually just boxer pj shorts or underwear. I once read that your body can manage its heat better with less clothes on and it’s true! Hawaii can get humid and I sweat less at night the less I have on. I also don’t like when a gown or T gets “stuck” when I roll over. I have a queen bed. My cat visits if my BF isn’t there (he takes care of his mom half the week so it’s just me & kitty). She doesn’t stay the whole night though, just for a little bit when I first get into bed.
3. N to the no. But I wish we did. I go to sleep much earlier than he does.
4. I clean kitty’s litter box, shower and get myself a glass of water. Turn on a soft light (either a Japanese paper light on my dresser or a sparkly LED light on my nightstand). Get into bed. If my BF is at his mother’s that night, I call him and chat for about 1/2 an hour. Then I read on my kindle while kitty plays bed monsters (pounces on any parts of my body that are under the covers and moving ever so slightly, which includes breathing).
5. A comforter, 4 queen pillows, a furry grandpa pillow and a stuffed animal (pig in pink gingham fabric) from Denmark. What is not on my bed: a top sheet. I stopped using one about five years ago. I find a top sheet uncomfortable. When I met my BF I was happy to hear he felt the same as there have been internet wars on this topic. It is not gross or disgusting, we wash our comforter in hot water and are always freshly showered before getting into bed.
I’m a heat box too! My husband is always saying he gets too hot when we sleep together.
1.What time do you go to bed? Wake up? Do you feel like you get enough sleep?
Finally got around to answering. Ironically, I’m writing it at 4:30 am because I woke up and was wide awake. I generally go to bed around 9pm and wake up at 5am with little changes for the weekend/holiday. Some days, like this morning, I simply wake up. I’ve always been a morning person and I tell people it’s because my name is Dawn:) The only way I can get extra sleep is to go to bed earlier. I wake up early whether I want to or not!
2.What do you sleep in? What size is your bed? Do your pets sleep in the bed with you?
In the winter I sleep in an Ibex or Icebreaker base layer on top and nothing else. Like you I hate for things to get twisted around. We have a queen size bed and our cats are in and out of the bed.
3.Do you and your partner go to bed at the same time?
If we don’t go to bed at the same time it’s within a half an hour. It’s nearly embarrassing to write but we spoon nearly all night almost always. One of us shifts and the other does at the same time. Our sleep patterns are nearly choreographed and, to me, often seems overly sweet.
4.Do you have any pre-bedtime rituals?
Brushing my teeth? Taking care of moisturizing all my various bits?
5.What do you have on your bed?
We have old flannel sheets from Target on the bed during the winter along with a quilt and a down comforter. I love pillows and my husband not as much. We live in New England and set the thermostat at 55 during the night.
