(I miss this sweet face while we’re away from home this week!)
I always ask you guys questions for “Five Questions” – now, it’s your turn. Ask me anything, and I’ll choose five questions to answer later this week.

Hi Grechen, I came to your blog later so I’m sure you’ve already discussed this. I know you reference working from home. Is your occupation primarily your blog and Slowre or do you have a “day job”?
Have a wonderful week!
How much do you spend on clothes/shoes/accessories per month? (is that too personal of a question?!)
Is the majority of your shopping done online or do you also go into stores to buy clothes?
How would you describe your personal style?
Who do you look up to as far as fashion goes…anyone in particular inspire you to dress the way that you do?
Thanks Grechen! 🙂
1. How is Dagny doing lately?
2. How do you keep your clothes dog-hair free? or at least minimal dog hair…of course short dog hair is easier to handle than my giant fluffy Yeti dog but I’m always open for ideas, especially since I wear mostly black!
3. I can’t seem to get over my fear of spending “too much” money on things. Like I want to buy better quality clothes, but I run away from the high price tags. When I have finally shelled out the money, I usually love the piece to death and wear it all the time, and it makes me happy. But I just can’t seem to get past “this is way too much to be spending on clothes.” Do you ever have trouble reconciling that? Like when buying an EZ piece or something designer?
Thank you!
how is the clothes inventory going since you created it last year? do you still reference it and has it provided you with any big takeaways? do you have an ideal number or range that works for your lifestyle?
Do you think you moved away from minimalism (based on your series a while ago), and if so, do you have a hard time reconciling your wants with your ideas, or what you discussed in the minimal closet?
How do you justify (and make it ok in your mind) spending so much on clothes when you don’t have a day job? This is an issue I myself am struggling with at this stage in my life.
Thank you!
***by “day job,” I meant a place to go to every day, not one’s earning capability. I know that you work from home.
Your #2 made me laugh as I feel your pain. I have a very beautiful and fluffy cat (a tuxedo). I do the following:
– Keep lint brushes everywhere (at home, in my car & in my office)
-Never lay clothes down on the bed or couch without laying a clean throw blanket or scarf down first
-Do a quick brush front and back while item is still on the hanger before getting dressed
– Embrace the fur
I struggle with this too! I’m a yoga and meditation teacher so I have a definite uniform when I teach that has very little to do with all the rest of my closet and clothes that I love. And all the things I want…..
Thank you! I have a big akita/pyrenees mix. When he blows out his coat twice a year, all hope is lost, and I try to stick with just my light gray clothing. 🙂
Oh yes, an Akita is huge vs. my cute tuxedo (she’s quite petite even for a kitty, 8 lbs). I used to have a German Shepard so I can relate!
Embrace the fur!
I like this question, too. I also work from home and only get to wear my house clothes most of the time.
My other question is do you ever feel judged by your family/friends for being interested in clothes or do you ever feel like it’s too superficial? My fiance always catches me shopping online or reading fashion blogs/watching fashion videos and says that I should find a new hobby. I can’t help that I enjoy these things on my free time, but sometimes it gets to me and I feel guilty about it.
Oh do I feel your pain!! I have a white Akita and a super shedding white cat who also blows his coat (always right after each other) and I’ve almost given up hope in wearing any black for those months, but I love wearing it, so it’s a struggle. I’d go through so many lint rollers trying to keep up, it just feels overly wasteful.
When and how did your interest in clothes, especially modern, minimalist style, start? What fashion blogs do you read?
Okay, so I don’t know if you will ever see this, but read the at least the last paragraph of this post:

So true.
