This week’s “find me” comes from Janie, who’s looking for black low-heel booties appropriate for work, and a black short-sleeve leather top. She didn’t give me any price range, so I went crazy π No, I tried very hard to find pieces in all price ranges…
black booties (low-heel, but not flat, good for walking, not too casual), from left to right
Rachel Comey Dazze booties | $460 at Saks (these are at the same time more casual with the natural wood heel, and less casual because of the more pointed, sleek toe)
Sam Edelman petty bootie | $129 at Nordstrom (the suede and lower heel might make this one too casual…)
Dana Davis patty bootie | $550 at Nordstrom (I kind of like these for a more “dressy” environment – and a wedge is usually pretty good for walking)
Rachel Comey Mars booties | $395 at Shopbop (I’ve heard great things about how comfortable these are, and they do look amazing with cropped pants)
black leather top (short sleeve) from left to right
Ohne Titel cap sleeve leather tee | $585 at Saks
All Saints Dash leather t-shirt | $305 at All Saints
Vince leather tee | $595 at Nordstrom
Muubaa peplum leather top | $400 at Shopbop
J Brand Jeans Jane leather tunic | $725 at J Brand
More leather (and faux leather) tops I found…

What do you think – do you have any more suggestions for Janie? If you want me to find something for you, please fill out this form.
These are great! I really love the leather tops!
Thanks; J Brand top and Rachel Comey Mars booties are my favorites!

I am trying to justify the Loeffler Randall Allie as my new “work” boots. Think they have a slightly dressier look and based on my experience with LRs they would still be very walkable.
love those!!! great price too π
I love all of the booties! I think that I’ve found my next obsession in shopping. I’d love a leather top like those you chose for Janie: The Vince is my fave.
Great choices Grechen! I’ve got an extra special challenge, and if anyone can do it, you can! How about black booties like those in size 12? Can it be done? Large 11’s aren’t cutting it and after shoving my poor feet into 11’s, I have embraced the truth. The Sam Edelman’s you picked DO come in 12s but unfortunately look like a couple of battleships on the end of my feet (typical for flats). Why oh why won’t Rachel Comey make 12s? Any ideas (other than stuart weitzman who I think is crazy expensive nowadays, charging price almost as high as Manolos, not that those would every fit either. Hmmpf. Sad face.
How funny.. I wrote about leather pants today! I was thinking I’d do a post on tops later. Loved the ones you chose here!
I just pinned a pair of Loeffler Randall booties, just like those, except they have little studs or something on them. Maybe too fashion forward for work, but they’re gorgeous. Remind me of Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan! π
what’s your pinterest? i want to follow!!
i love the idea of leather pants, but i’m not sure i could ever pull them off…they’re so chic though. and i love your “Sandy” reference – i wanted to BE HER after i watched that movie.
So that’s a “no” for looking for size 12s for me I guess. Too small a market? (notice the pun)
ha! no, i’m not sure i’ll be able to do a post about it, but i can try to find you size 12s. although it was hard enough trying to find size 11s for val!!
It is CRAZY to me that more online shoe venues don’t sell larger sizes. I don’t even think size 11 is all that rare anymore (and probably not a 12, either, Sophie!). With women involved in sports, taller people in general (sorry, Grechen, no offense!), I think larger feet are getting more common. I have found that the only places that carry CUTE larger sizes (and that’s key, I don’t want Grandma shoes, even tho I’m going to be one!), are Nordstrom and Barefoot Tess. Good luck to you!!!
Thanks for the compassion mamaV. It’s so frustrating! Ive bought elevens for the *last* time for a trip to Rome. Because my heel was right on the edge, and Rome is so hot in the summer, I developed blisters UNDER callouses by the second day so bad I couldn’t even stand up without crying. It took a week for them to heal (ha ha ha) enough for me to be able to walk more than a block or two.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s too unusual to have 11s for sure and even 12s. I bought some trail running shoes this fall and was stuck once again in the mens shoes. But a woman’s foot is not a man’s foot, is it, so they don’t fit so well. And what can you do about big feet anyway? You can’t diet them or exercise them … no wonder the poor stepsisters had to cut off their toes to get their feet in Cinderella’s shoe. Retail has become a bunch of fascists. You must be THIS size or you’re SOL (hope I can say that). Same thing with clothing, as Grechen’s testament to finding designer jeans in a broader size range has proven.
Thanks for the tips from both of you…Grechen, if you have any sway with Rachel Comey get her to make a size 12 last! (PS I got a couple of her 11’s — open toe or heel thank God — and although they are too small I love them. Very comfortable (well, they would be if they were bigger but I can’t fault the shoe for that!) and love love love how they look.
You are so lucky you can wear any shoe!
And to Grechen and Sophie, I totally echo Grechen’s comment about premium denim. There seems to be NO consistency of sizing between brands at all! It’s truly meaningless. Which means we are forced to try on pair after pair after pair (I once read that the average woman has to try on at least 7 pairs of jeans before finding a pair that fits!). I couldn’t believe I found AG’s to fit my larger thighs and calves. Sometimes, I almost say “Thank you” to the skinny jeans makers who make the calves SO freakin’ small that I can’t even bother getting them past my calf. (sarcasm intended π ) Well, enough venting for me. I didn’t mean to hijack your post, Grechen!
