For the first time ever, I’m going to carefully plan my Fall wardrobe and not just buy whatever I like whenever I see it. Honestly, I’m tired of having so many things in my closet and nothing to wear; I just need a few carefully selected pieces that I can wear all the time, and I’m set. That’s what I’m aiming for anyway š So all this week I’m going to talk about and post the pieces I plan to invest in over the next month or so. Starting with…THE (casual) pencil skirt:
Vince pencil skirt | $195
Splendid skirt/dress | $46
James Perse ruched pencil skirt | $165
I did some recon shopping yesterday (no buying!) and I’m pretty sure I’ve settled on the Vince pencil skirt, but I wasn’t able to try on the Splendid skirt/dress, so that may still be an option. I’ve had the James Perse skirt in my sights for quite some time, and after trying it on I do still love it, but compared with the Vince skirt, it’s a little flimsy. And although all the ruching provides some “interest” to the skirt, it may have added too much bulk. But I also might have sized down. It’s still an option, because I feel like I can be more “hard” on it than the Vince skirt, and it was a bit easier to walk in, but damn, that Vince skirt really looked amazing! It fit my waist/hips perfectly and really sucked everything in. The Vince skirt was also a great length; it covered my knees, but just barely, it wasn’t longer like the James Perse skirt.
I can totally see myself wearing one of these casual black pencil skirts A LOT all year-round – mostly in Winter with tights and booties, but they’re just as good with sandals and t-shirts during the Summer. Now, it’s just a matter of deciding which one…
Do you wear pencil skirts as casual-wear? Or just to the office? What are you looking forward to buying this Fall?
Stay tuned tomorrow for the second item on my Fall shopping list!!
