Yep, that’s right, Mossimo. At Target. I was walking through yesterday, on my way to the Benedryl (for the dog) and peanut butter M&Ms (for ME) and got stuck in the women’s clothing section (which happens a lot). Noticing quite a few things for fall that caught my eye, I took a handful into the dressing room:
From left to right, I’m wearing:
Mossimo women’s v-neck drapey tee | $14.99 + Mossimo leggings
Mossimo printed tunic top | $24.99 + Mossimo leggings
Mossimo twig print sweatshirt | $24.99 + my own pants (Herff Christiansen, not available anymore)
Thoughts:
I didn’t buy anything, except I did have the leggings/Ponte pants in my cart up until checkout when I decided not to buy them right now. Because it’s hot. The link goes to a pair of army green ponte pants, which is the same fabrication, different color, and the ones I tried on had the seam down the front-side of the legs, which I really liked. I can’t seem to find that exact pair online. They were great though, I’m wearing a medium, and they’re nearly identical to but less weighty than my HELMUT cocoon leggings from last year (the Mossimo leggings have the same seam going down the front-side of the leg as the HELMUT ones- take a look). I LOVED most of all the way they held everything in. Seriously. I will buy them eventually.
I’ll probably also get the v-neck drape-y tee in a couple of colors; it’ll be good for layering. It’s very similar to T by Alexander Wang, but as you can see on me, it’s not that oversized (I’m wearing a medium), so I might actually get a large so it doesn’t cling to my *ss as much! Overall it’s a great longer-length t-shirt for not a lot of money. I also like the printed tunic I’m wearing in the middle, but it might be just a bit TOO long in the back (can you see in the mirror?) for me. And it has a zip placket instead of a button placket, which is a little weird, and not great for when you’re sitting down. I did like the print though, and the idea of throwing it on with the leggings.
Finally, the sweatshirt. This was the first thing that caught my eye, because you know, I’m obsessed with sweatshirts. I loved the print, the style – it’s “mixed media” LOL- and the fit. I don’t know if I’ll get it eventually though, I have a great Etoile Isabel Marant sweatshirt that fits similarly. And I’m kind of feeling oversized sweatshirts lately, not as “fitted” as this one.
There were quite a few more pieces that caught my eye, but I didn’t have time to try EVERYTHING on this time. If you’re near a Target, I highly recommend going and checking out some of these pieces, and more because there’s lots of good stuff there now.
Have you found anything good at Target recently? Have you bought clothing at Target?
I also know the 3.1 Philip Lim X Target collection is coming imminently, but in principle I’m kind of opposed to those collaborations. I try to like them, but find the fabrications/styles/fit utterly disappointing. And I really really hate it when designers knock off their most popular designs for Target. I love attainable/affordable fashion, I just wish they’d come up with ORIGINAL DESIGNS for their collaborations, not deliberate copies of their already popular luxury products…
I really like that last sweatshirt. The print looks really interesting. I have only recently started wearing T by Alexander Wang tees and love the two that I have so I might take a look see at the drapey tee (which looks great on you). I generally try to space out my visits to Target because I’ll go in with a small list of household/beauty products to get and end up with a ton of other stuff I didn’t plan to buy (like the purse I bought last time I went in).
I totally get understand why you aren’t all for these collaborations. I totally agree that the designers should come up with original designs but I suppose they try to capitalize on their more popular and/or easily recognizable designer items. Most of the time I’m not buying lots from the regular designer line so I like that I can get a piece of the designer without going bankrupt. I just try to keep my expectations on the low side. The only thing I have my eye on is the yellow “Pashli” and maybe a blouse and sleep set. We’ll see what it looks like in person on the 15th and if there is anything left by the time I get to Target. π
That tshirt looks like it is going to be a favorite of mine. The fit looks perfect! Thanks for sharing! I’ll be checking those out this week.
I really like your own Herff pants with the sweatshirt. And I think that a bit fitted is more flattering than oversized at this point. I’m losing a little weight, and I don’t want anything to come between me (and my Calvin’s…couldn’t resist! π ) and my new figure! Our Target is so far away, that I rarely get there anymore. And I wouldn’t DREAM of going there and battling Hampton’s traffic in the summer. Maybe this fall, now that the crowds are [sort of] gone.
true. i guess i’m liking things I can wear with leggings for fall/winter though (oversized enough to cover my butt), because that’s how i picture myself when it gets cold. wrapped in fleece and/or cashmere constantly LOL
haha! that’s why i didn’t buy the leggings this time, because i was already loaded up with crap – i TOTALLY space out my visits to target π
i need to try that “lower expectations” thing – i can’t help but get a little excited about checking out the collabs, and then I’m inevitably disappointed. i guess if i don’t think they’ll be good, i won’t be disappointed!
I love that middle top and my local Tarjay has it in stock. Will be heading over there tomorrow to check it out.
it’s a great top- can’t wait to see it in an outfit if you get it! i hope it’s still available when i can wear it here. i would smother in it right now. and i’m not feeling like stocking up on lots of fall stuff…
