So…what are you buying? what’s on your wishlist? What do you have questions about?
I pretty much love everything, but here are the things I’m most intrigued with:
Andy Trouser | linen
Clyde Vest | linen
Absolutely getting this at some point – it’s the LSJ for summer, in vest form LOL
Harperย dress | linen gauze
I like this better than the Georgia dress, I’m glad I waited – I need that pocket…
Clyde jumpsuit | ย linen
Honestly, I miss my clyde jumpsuit I got during the sample sale, but not because it fit well, just because I really need a jumpsuit. ย If I got this one, I would probably size down to a small.
So…my order is in. Sadly won’t arrive in time for my Italian vacay. ๐
Site only froze up on one of the pants and I really don’t need pants anyway ๐
I have always loved everything Liz has done, but this is the first offering where I can literally see ME wearing everything, in all colours, everyday, weather permitting. Even the shorts, which are pretty short for my aging, totally unfit legs.
I ordered: Lara dress in smoke linen gauze; Lara top and Bel skirt in charcoal linen gauze; Clyde dress (jumper) in Navy linen (like pants only cuter!); and Josephine vented tunic in ivory crepe (here’s hoping the ivory isn’t too yellow for me….). And due to the current exchange rate, may have to re-mortgage my house. I know! I have a problem when it comes to Elizabeth Suzann!
i am even considering the clyde shorts!!! i love my clydes ๐
i CANNOT WAIT to hear your thoughts on everything. wish it wouldn’t take so long…
Ordered! It’s cutting things close because I leave for France on June 14th, and with the 4-6 week wait time, my order should ship out by June 7th… so fingers crossed that getting my order in ASAP helps speed the process along…
I ordered the Petra in both the stone poplin and navy linen, and (old standard) the Tilda in black linen. I plan to put in another order next month, but for now I only ordered things that I knew I’d want in France.
On my June/July wish list (so… ordering in May!) is the Clyde trench in black linen, the Mara jumpsuit in black linen, Josephine tunic in flax linen and probably the flax linen Clyde pants… but jeez… I knew it was going to be good, but I was seriously blown away!
right? everything is good. it helps that it’s all linen. which i love. i just wish i could get over the seasonality of linen and wear it year-round….
Damn, and I just realized they had the Georgia in the new linen gauze and now I am obsessed… adding it to the list…
the only thing i can imagine splurging on for now is the clyde jumpsuit in linen. it reminds me of a black crane jumpsuit i scored on ebay which is my favorite item of clothing (but that one has a wider more flowy leg). if i was getting married again i would wear the mara jumpsuit in silk – so upset this didn’t exist back in the day!
what was your fit issue with the cotton canvas clyde jumpsuit? can’t remember now!
it stretched out A LOT, and the pockets were way too deep for my short arms ๐ if i put something small in there, i had a helluva time trying to get it back out LOL – it was comical!
I know — maybe that’s why it’s so hard to resist; it’s all linen! I run hot so I can make linen work maybe 8 months out of the year here in the SF Bay Area (when it’s not a torrential downpour like this year!). I’ve yet to own any ES linen but am hopeful that since I’ve heard it’s heavier weight that it might be more versatile through the seasons!
her linen is a heavier weight – i love it (i just have the harper tunic) and it could definitely skew more towards cooler temperatures than, say, eileen fisher’s linen, which is very thin/delicate
Okay that is helpful! I ordered a pair of CP Shades linen pants, and they are virtually unwearable — I’m sure I will bust a seam in them, and they are sooo thin, I can’t imagine chancing it and bringing them to Paris with me. Hence me ordering the Tilda.
PS: THANK YOU for putting up a post about the ES WWC! I don’t know anyone IRL who shops ES and I need a place to gush about it with others!
I was worried about that but the sizing notes on her blog indicated they have adjusted the sizing from what went out from the sample sale, and the models were shot in the size small. I have been waiting and waiting for that linen jumpsuit and pulled the trigger in the medium. I know it will stretch a little bit but I’m hoping that the linen will be more forgiving than the cotton looked if it turns out a little roomy. I also ordered the Petra Crop in black linen- thinking it will have a cool jumpsuit vibe with my black linen Florence pants. I WILL be ordering the linen Clyde pants as soon as I refill my penny jar and I’m obsessed with both the Clyde trench and vest. I’m not in love with the linen gauze (at least not for me) but I do surprisingly like the look of all the shorts and that long Josephine tunic. I am wishing I would have sold a kidney or something because I love so many of these new pieces and it is torture trying to narrow it down.
Same. I filled up my cart and then had to narrow it down to a total that I felt *less* stressed about, all the while saying “it’s okay, it’s not going anywhere, you can order it later..” … you know, talking myself down as if I were 5 ๐
I placed my order and then filled my cart with absolutely everything else that I loved, just to see what the damage would be. I, too, am thankful the WWC won’t be going anywhere…
I ordered the Harper tunic (short sleeves) in the lighter gray linen gauze color. I have the regular linen version in navy and it’s one of my favorite things to pair with a denim mini (for me, “mini” is just an inch or two above the knee).
I have the long sleeved Harper dress and I really enjoy it, but it did take a couple of trips to the tailor to get it exactly right. Initially I had them bring up the hem about 4″, so it would hit me mid-calf like on the model… but it the proportion looked weird on my short frame, especially since the dress is so billowy. I took it back and we brought it up to just below the knee, and also took up the back of the dress an extra inch. It still has a high-low hem, it’s just a better proportion for my height (I’m between 5’1″ and 5’2″). I was worried that taking it up so much would make the placement of the pocket look weird, but it doesn’t. (I don’t know why I was worried about that in the first place – it’s fine on the tunic, which is about 4-5″ shorter than my final version of the dress). Just something to think about for the shorties out there.
Also ordered the Georgia tee in black raw silk, which I’ve been meaning to order for a while but wanted to wait until WWC was out so I wouldn’t need to make two orders.
I LOVE that Harper dress in the linen…it looks like something I would get a LOT of wear out of. It looks like it has the right amount of drape in the fabric so it’s oversized, but not overwhelming.
I have an organic linen chambray color shift dress from Eileen Fisher last season that has been a WORKHORSE wardrobe item and this could be a similarly good addition.
I’ve been looking at ES for a while, but haven’t bought anything because I have no idea really about the sizing or how it will fit me. I wish I could try samples on before I ordered! She needs to go on a trunk show tour!
I ordered the Josephine long tunic shirt in black from the WWC. I also ordered the Linn tee in cotton twill (olive) ‘cuz I’ve been eyeing that shirt for a long time, and the Clyde billow skirt in raw silk.
I’m Henny and I’m an ES addict ๐
I love almost everything! Decisions, decisions. I’ll be curious to see some reviews from others once orders arrive in a few weeks.
Also, I am getting married next year and I am soooo strongly considering pairing the Clyde billow skirt in ivory midweight linen with the ivory silk crepe Marlena for my “wedding dress.” Maybe with a pair of Bryr’s bridal clogs…
YES!!! to the wedding outfit ๐ it sounds lovely.
I bought the Clyde and Florence shorts!
that wedding dress outfit sounds lovely!
OMG do it! I am getting married in June and I dreamt about getting an ES dress/set for my dress, but just couldn’t find anything that quite worked for me. I did get some Bryr clogs though, which are FABULOUS and beautiful and will be perfect wedding shoes!
I was going to say “I’d marry you in that outfit!” when I realized I’m already married, not gay, and we’ve never even been formally introduced ;-). Could I get away with a SECOND vow renewal and wear that outfit myself??????
Recently, my son had the temerity to state that “basically every wedding dress is just like every other: a fancy white dress”. I gave him a withering look and dug out our old wedding pix (in storage due to a long ago reno) to show him. He said: oh. I stand corrected.
Well, it was white! And it was a dress! But it wasn’t like every other. He should know better by now.
i wish i could have a do-over for both of my wedding outfits LOL – but then again, we didn’t have large ceremonies, only family, and the second time, not even family…so i don’t put a lot of stock in the actual wedding, i have a hard enough time staying married, better for me to focus on the marriage haha…but i would love to have some nice pictures to look back on.
we’ve talked about having a “party” on our anniversary each year, and invite all the people we didn’t invite to our justice-of-the-peace ceremony, and in that case, i’ll wear something special, for sure.
Grechen, you make me laugh too much :-)!!!!
I absolutely agree, it’s not about the wedding, it’s about the marriage. Which is just one reason why I think expensive big party dresses are nuts. Now, an inexpensive, big party dress, go for it! ๐
Yes, yes, yes. You should have a big “anniversary” party just once…….it would be so much fun for both of you, and you both deserve it, and think of the lovely outfit you could chose from Elizabeth!
I really need to STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER and get outside in the air, but you know the ONE THING I’m really missing from this collection? The Stevie top. Like the Maxine, but longer and more billowy. I fretted about it all last summer, because I loved it so much, but couldn’t decide between fabrics and colours. It looks like it has been lost to time, as I don’t think it will be part of the signature update, so has anyone seen anything similar out there? Or bought it and looking to pass it on? Any thoughts?
Ah! Thanks for all the support about this idea, everyone. I am a little nervous that I’d look back and wish I had worn something fancier or “more traditional,” but then I remind myself that I needn’t fit into boxes and all that matters is that I like what I wear and feel comfortable in it. Plus, I’d be supporting a business I respect and saving money, given how expensive dresses are.
Grechen, you should totally do an anniversary party! Maybe the Mara jumpsuit in silk crepe would fit the bill! ๐
Kathryn, LOL at your son’s comment! I appreciate your take on wedding dresses.
Alyssa, I’m glad that it sounds like you found something you feel great about in the end and that you love the Bryr clogs you ordered! I am completely smitten with the idea of wearing some on our wedding day, so that’s awesome to hear!
Don’t even think about regrets! It’s too early for that! After all, how many women have felt oppressed into wedding traditions and then looked back at their wedding photos with chagrin? (Now if you LOVE tradition, that’s fabulous, go for it. You’ll rock that too.) Every bride is beautiful…..whether in something fluffy or something spare…as long as she’s wearing what she loves. If I may re-quote something twice on the same blog on the same day: don’t wear anything if you can’t eat, dance, drink and sleep in (especially on your wedding day in this case.) The capacity to sleep in your wedding outfit may not be an absolute requirement in wedding apparel, but it is definitely recommended!!! On your wedding day you should be ready for anything!
There’s a lot I love but no immediate must-haves, and I’m grateful for that. I might later on consider the charcoal Harper, the Clyde trench and the Josephine shell or tunic. The Linn tee has always interested me as well. I love the Andy trousers but I know they would be too high-waisted for me. Liz mentions that she took in the V on the Harlow styles but it still looks too revealing for my comfort. They’re so, so gorgeous though. Anyone have a Harlow dress or tunic??
I ordered the Clyde pants on Flax linen, and a Georgia dress and Harper Tunic in Charcoal. Can’t wait to get that”Heck Yah your order has shipped” email?
The things that catch my eye are also the Andy Trouser, the Lara Top in linen gauze, the Clyde Trench, and the Clyde Billow Skirt in black. It makes me smile and I think it would be soooo versatile! I’d better start saving now!
Hi Henny! I’m Val, and I want to be enabled.
Well, call me a straight polygamist, because Christine’s wedding idea sounds uniquely gorgeous!
For some reason, I felt like I had to place an order right away or I’d miss out, and realized after that I was being crazy bc of the launch! I got a Josephine vented shell and a Petra crop, both in ivory linen. I just worry about the flax being kindof blah and not reaching for it, and I rarely wear dark colors on top in summer. I figure not both of them will work out and I’ll just return one for credit, or maybe for a different color if they are both great on. Also interested in the Harper in linen gauze and the Mara jumpsuit, although doesn’t it look like the armholes don’t fit the model well in the pics of the jumpsuit?
Fact I have the Georgia Midi dress in Flax and it’s a beautiful color. I ordered the Georgia Tee in Flax on Monday. I also have some pieces in the Ivory linen and It’s also gorgeous. The Flax will def be easier to keep clean looking for a slob like me ?
I got the Georgia T in charcoal linen gauze (to complete my Georgia T collection of black raw silk and ivory hemp/silk blend).
I feel my black pants collection is complete (Cecilia and Florence silk) and don’t need a second Clyde (olive canvas). I have 2 ES black dresses and if I need another dress it would probably be a JP.
My summer trip isn’t until August so hopefully it will be here by then. However I’ll be attending a very posh wedding on the northern coast of England. I’m afraid my DVF wrap dress is too mumsy and my ES Marlena silk crepe too unfitted (or I’m trying to justify a JP dress!).
Your wedding outfit idea does sound lovely! I was so excited to read that she would be re-launching silk crepe signature in ivory…I’ve been dreaming of the Marlena midi in ivory as a low-key wedding dress.
Clyde trench in black linen and Harper dress in charcoal linen gauze! Also dithering between olive Clyde pants and navy Andy pants. But like Christine, I don’t feel a pressing need to buy right away so going to give myself a week to mull over before placing my (next) order. I just got the “Heck yes” email confirming my latest Georgia piece has shipped! (Georgia is my favourite from ES and I own an embarrassing number of Georgia tops and dresses.)
I ordered one of the long Josephine tunics in linen, which will be my first Elizabeth Suzann purchase. I’d been eyeing the Harper Tunic, but this new style is more what I had been hoping for. The Harlow dress is gorgeous, and I’m intrigued by both the Clyde vest and short jacket, but I’m going to wait until I get my first order.
And my tunic order actually picks up on your happy accidents post, Grechen. The best thing I’ve bought in the last few months was a Rick Owens tunic on super sale at Totokaelo. It still was kind of pricey, and it was a total impulse purchase (which I generally try not to do anymore, since those tend to be less happy, more accident ), but it is the biggest workhouse in my closet now. I wear it with everything. It makes everything else I own better: dresses I never really wore now get worn, I feel put together, and it’s perfect. It even looks good with freaking gauchos (yes, reader, I succumbed to that trend a year or so ago.) So I’m thinking maybe it’s layering pieces like that my closet needs and will make what I already own more functional. Fingers crossed…
I bought the Stevie Top in cotton voile (in OSM, I’m petite, size 2) but returned it as it swallowed my frame. Loved the style! Had obsessed over it but was happier with the Linn tee in linen.
Sounds like it would have been perfect for me ๐ She who hesitates? Or think before you leap? I never seem to choose the right one in the right circumstances lol.
It all looks nice but I just can’t pull the trigger for anything that returns only for store credit. Not at those pricepoints and without being able to try on.
Oh that happens to me too! I wish I got the Wool Clyde Pant when it was available in copper. Perhaps you could keep an eye on ebay or when ES has a sample sale.
Wool Pant? Copper? Was I in a coma for part of the past decade and no-one told me? Dang.
I’d love to know what you think of the linen gauze vs the midweight linen that you already have. I’m thinking of purchasing the linen gauze Harper in the light grey too since I think it would disguise wear & tear & crumbs & dirt from the kids better, but not sure if I will like the crinkle fabric against my skin. I’m your height too and also planning on purchasing the raw silk Georgia tee, just can’t decide between black and eggshell.
